Sometimes when I unlock my phone I see a round status icon (like a checked radio button) at the top of the screen next to the power, it disappears quickly. Can't seem to find any information on the status icons. What it is?

My girlfriend and I both bought 1020's and they both show the backlight when hitting the power button. It happens when the device is at whatever current screen youre on, after you hit the button the screen closes as should, but then I get a glimpse of backlight.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm brand new to the Windows Phone 8 game and bought a used 1020. I've had various old school winmo phones before like the Moto MPx200 and the MPx220. It is not my primary phone and I bought it mostly for the camera to take pics whenever I have my phone. Haven't had the phone for long but one thing that irks me is that the status icons (cell strength, wifi, battery, etc) on the top do not stay there and always disappears. I can make them reappear by sliding down from the top but is there any way or option to keep it always there?

I know it uses the wired headset as a antenna so maybe there is a plug in antenna that will still let the music flow to the bluetooth headset?
View 10 Replies View RelatedPhone was on desk minding it own business I turned on my Bluetooth speakers bose. And the phone made a horrible sound via its speaker phone speaker. Load static for no reason. I went to the radio tuner as it sound like radio static and sure enough as it was searching the static changed.
So why would turning on my BT speakers cause the radio to turn on with static without head phones and be super loud on the phone speakers. The only way I could stop the sound was to power the phone off.
Why is the location icon always active in the status bar at the top of the windows phone start screen on Nokia Lumia 920. This is ridiculous and what I believe to be the culprit in the battery draining issue I am experiencing with this phone.

Just got a brand new (straight from ATT fresh out of the box) Lumia 1020. Usually they come with a decent enough charge left in them to turn them on and go through setup etc.. however this one seemed totally dead so I figured the battery must have run out.
I plug it in to the wall using the charger that came with the phone and nothing happens, I switch over to plugging in via USB to my computer and the computer does recognize and install the drivers however the 1020 will not start.
I have noticed that the home (windows) button is blinking repeatedly and I assume that means its trying to charge however a few things
The windows button does not blink when plugged in to the wall socket, when plugged in via my USB hub the windows button blinks long slow blinks, when plugged directly in to my computers USB port the windows button blink short fast blinks.

I got a Lumia 1020 a few days ago, and have noticed the lights of the 3 buttons at the button aren't working. I can't remember having seen them glow. Even last night, the didn't seen to be working in the dark.
I am currently using DP, could that be the reason?
I swear that little magnifying glass icon is the worst 'feature' I've had on any phone since the beginning of time.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an icon running the developers 8.1.... So I am trying to stream radio stations on tunein radio and it works terribly. When the stream doe actually play it will stutter and skip, it will do that for a few seconds and then just go into a buffering loop. I even tored different streams of the station and got pretty much the same results. My signal is fine, I have full LTE so speed isnt not the problem. Also its just tunein radio....youtube Pandora and mix radio work fine.
This is an app I used a lot on the android phone and Id really like to be able to use it on the widows phone too but right now its absolutely useless.
Nokia Icon received last week from Verizon. I generally like the phone and am excited about using it since I am a Windows user and want to take advantage of using my phone with Windows PC. Heard great things about this phone and wanted to try it after years of Android use. I have heard complaints about lack of apps but I am not an apps user except for the most basic ones. My problem is more with connecting to other devices. After receiving phone, downloading updates to installed apps out of the box, I have had problems with connecting/staying connected to WiFi. Had to reboot phone to get any recognition of networks. Working better now. Bluetooth is the current problem.
Phone does not recognize radio. Just searches and searches. Talked to both Verizon and Alpine Stereo. Alpine says I need to update a file since the head unit is four years old. Took Icon to my wife's brand new Escalade and it will not recognize it either. Just searches away. So, four year old or brand new units don't seem to have been set up for Windows phones.
I got my 1020 last week (Disclaimer: AT&T employee in a corporate store). It's great, except that I have to have my phone PIN locked. With the addition of the Nokia camera software and it being the default, I have to unlock my phone before it goes into the camera. If I switch the button to the standard WP camera app, I can take photos while unlocked.

I woke up this morning and noticed I had this weird icon on my status bar at the top where it shows if you have a message or something. It looks like a white speech bubble with writing in it. So I guess what i'm asking is what is this icon? and how would I go about getting rid of it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago my Nokia 1020 suddenly stated giving me an error message when I clicked to synch my Yahoo mail account. It worked absolutely fine for over a year. I have made no changes to the phone OS nor added any new apps. I changed my password and then retried - still not able to get mail. All of my other email accounts are still working fine. I can get yahoo mail on my iPad just fine. I have deleted the account, rebooted the phone and created a new instance of Yahoo mail and still it does not get to mail.

I used it for a day or two and then enabled PFD (couldn't go another day without it :) and the next day noticed the search button no longer lit up. Finally did a hard reset but no diff. So: hardware failure, return for replacement (they're good about that) or possibly software, wait for Denim?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere is a lag when trying to wake the phone up. I will press the power button and it will take almost 4 seconds for the phone to wake up. This doesn't happen often, but often enough that I have to do a soft reset several times to correct the problem. Even then, it's still not 100% responsive. I'm on the latest DP and still having this issue.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy screen froze on my 1020. None of the "screen" buttons would work but the physical side buttons would. I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.

When I upgraded to DP 8.1, I developed a couple of problems that I had hoped Denim would resolve. For example, my camera button stopped working. Also, I lost the function to hold my finger on the screen to move the cursor around in text. So I can't edit messages very easily. I was hoping these were issues with the DP version and Denim would resolve the problems. But I loaded the upgrade this morning, and none of these issues are resolved. I still can't use the camera button. And I still get hold my finger on the screen to get a cursor.
