Lumia 1020 :: Resolution Test With The Phone In DNG Mode
Nov 28, 2014
I've done a good deal of testing with the 1020. Shown is a resolution test with the 1020 in DNG mode. I judge the resolution at 100 LP/mm ( 35mm equivalent ). For comparison, my 14MP Sigma only makes it to about 50. My friends 20MP Canon earns about 65. 35mm color print film maxes out at about 85 and Tech Pan, 120. I use my 1020 in JEPG mode which yields about 90 but is considerably faster and less noisy than DNG mode. All these tests are " apples to apples ". In other words, the test chart fits the frame on all devices.
I am not talking about the 5mp shots the phone creates. When my wife uploades or mms a picture or video they are terrible. Is there something in the settings I need to adjust? If I send it to my phone over bluetooth is looks amazing still.
Today I acquired a Lumia 1020, black, from the at&t store. Have to admit, I was super excited until I got home and saw the images this thing produces. Maybe I got a bad phone, but I doubt it. The images are incredibly noisy, and I expected much better.I'm looking at the images with high-res in the file name. And all of these were on automatic settings (except for one or two where I turned the flash to "assist only".)
Is it this bad everywhere? Maybe a bad phone? The images is horribly oversampled and pixelated even at low zoom levels, or default "just looking at the picture". My Lumia 920 doesn't look like this on normal photos (when you don't zoom in). URL...
I have read lot of reviews of great 41MP Camera of Lumia1020. I can take both the pictures (seen in the camera settings and tried). Both the pics look exactly same on the phone screen and there is no meaning of so hyped 'zoom, reframe, crop, edit' thing. I can only do this on the 5MP from my phone readily if I want to share the different angled shot or something.
Have tried downloading 34MP highres pictures on PC and they look not very different from the 5MP ones. It's a great botheration for me at least as I can't show my friend's the great 41MP pictures on my phone and then zoom them to see close ups. All I can do is see the 5MP pictures (although great quality, beyond imagination of any other camera phone brand right now). How to successfully exploit the 34Mega Pixels on phone screen right after the shot is taken and should look better than 5MP.
I tried,so many photography apps..certain apps good, but, the problem is,when we save after we make editing in that apps, they save my photo in low resolution..
I am using Nokia Lumia 1020. It has been having a trouble auto connecting Flight Mode. I can not use my mobile as a result of that. It connecting automatically WIFI connection as well. I can not off both Flight Mode and WIFI manually as they connecting automatically.
Did I miss the memo that says deleting lo-res photos will somehow not allow one to open the hi-res versions? I have the 1520 connected to my Windows 7 PC (via USB) and wanted to keep the hi-res versions only, so I deleted the lo-res ones. The hi-res files still appear as physical files in file explorer with multiple megabytes but no preview/ thumbnail (same as before). I can't transfer them to an empty folder on my Desktop or to Imgur, nothing happens, not even an explanation. I checked my recycle bin and the lo-res files are no where to be found.
For some reason Nokia suite does not detect my new 1020? I can't find any setting in WP8 for USB modes, I updated to the latest Nokia suite version 3.8.30, the phone is detected by the PC, I can see the hardware under my devices and printers.
So I have the following problem. I am using Lumia 1020 for the past 6 months (give or take) and unfortunately my job ended today, so I had to return the SIM card I got from them, but was able to keep the phone.
I already have a new postpaid SIM, but this time from a different carrier. The SIM is not yet active (it usually take around 1-2 days). I put the card in the phone and start it up. A demo mode is enabled and it seems I can't get rid of it, there is also no "Reset phone" under "About" in Settings.
I still have not figured out what is the most efficient way to transfer the highly resoluted pictures taken with my Lumia 1520 to my Surface Pro.
Inarguably, I've adjusted the settings on my Lumia 1520 to save both a 5MP and a highly resoluted picture. Also, the automatic OneDrive upload is enabled. However, the pictures on OneDrive seem not to be the highly resoluted ones. There are files to be found with something like "_high" on my Lumia 1520 but transferring them manually is painstaking as they are among many other different files (e.g. thumbnails).
How can I select highest resolution on automatic mode and scenes mode? It looks like some inportant function is missing. The creative mode is really hard to use. I perfer automatic and scenes mode which is easiler for me but I want it to be the best resolution is there any way because I couldn't find the setting?
Last night, I saw an article about driving mode and thought I'd set it up on my 1020 to try it out. (It would let me stop notifications of texts while I'm driving, but still take Bluetooth calls.)
Today, my phone wouldn't connect to my car's Bluetooth. I decided to disable driving mode as it was obviously causing the problem, but the on/off option was greyed out.
Eventually, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, I decided the only option was to reset the phone to go back to driving mode not being set up. You can imagine what a hassle that was. But the phone still doesn't recognise my car, or, it seems, any other Bluetooth devices.
It is galling, because my new car (a Mini Cooper) doesn't have a Cd player, so Bluetooth is the only way I can play music.
My 1020 went from 100 percent charged to zero last night in three hours while in stand my mode. All apps that run in the background are blocked What could have happen?
Is it possible to save settings on the 1020 Nokia Camera App so that it starts with these settings? I'm assuming it would mean altering the way the app is coded, or possibly using and add-on type of extension for it. I'd like it to start in 'Sports' mode as this is the one I use most often, and in my haste often forget to change.
I'm having some weird issues with the WIFI connections when my phone is on airplane mode. I can't connect to both of my home WIFI - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both of the SSIDs are not being displayed at all, until I turned off airplane mode. However, both my Nexus 7 (2013) and HTC One are working fine with their airplane modes. Is this some crazy limitations of Windows Phone again?
I just got my device back from the repair depot. I sent it in b/c I cant charge my battery. Everything else worked great on the device. I was told that it was out of warrenty and it was sent back. (Not a problem, I have a broken screen 9800 that I was using to charge my battery in the first place)When I got my device back, it is stuck on a white screen that gives me an option on testing the camera, LED, FLASH, etc.. But it does not give me the option of exiting or anything. When I plug it into Desktop Manager, I get that it doesnt connect and gives the options of retry or upgrade. So I go and press update, it connects and starts working. It gets upto the JVM and then it states that it can not connect to the device. What can I do here? It was fine (software wise) before I sent it off and the depot screwed it up!!! What steps can I take into getting my Torch back to where it was?
I've tried to do the field test mode by typing *3001#12345#* but when I hit call it doesn't do anything.Does anyone know how to enter field test mode on the new iPhone 4?
how to get telus milestone in field test mode?i want to see what frequencies the cell towers i'm connected to are broadcasting at. 850 or 1900 or both?
I recently bought a Nokia 1020 and i suspect that there are something wrong with the camera. The quality of the photos that i take are, in my opinion, nowhere near the ones you can se in reviews and those released by Nokia.
To me it looks like it's only the middle part of every photo that is correctly focused. The edges are very blurry. I have no case on the phone, no dirt on the lens and i have tried to reset the camera and reboot, no difference.
I will attach some photos on which I think you can see it clearly. The images are very sharp in the middle but when you move towards the edges it quickly becomes blurry. Both pictures are taken in daylight with Nokia Pro Cam, all settings on auto.
The pictures are the high resolution version: FileSnack | Easy file sharing FileSnack | Easy file sharing.
New to the Windows mobile phone... I use my Windows phone for business and do a lot of conference calls. With my iPhone I used to be able to put the phone number with three commas and then the passcode to the conference call in the meeting request (format = 555-555-5555,,,12121212#). By using this format my customers could just click the link in their iPhone and it would auto-dial the conference number along with the passcode so that they did not have to remember the passcode while driving.
Example: 555-555-5555,,,12121212#. (autohyperlink for iOS) VS 555-555-5555 Passcode 12121212 then press # (caller can hyperlink the phone number but has to remember the passcode and dial it while driving...)
By using this format you could just click the number and it would dial the number pause then auto add the passcode and # to enter the conference call. I think Blackberry used to use a similar format to achieve the same thing.
Yesterday, I went running with my Lumia 1020 listening to music and using the Runtastic app. The music stopped - I looked at the phone - it was turned off. I tried powering on, but to no avail. I should also mention that upon leaving, the battery was fully charged and this happened after some 20 minutes. When I came home, I immediately put the phone on the wall charger and expected it to power on after a while. I checked it after 3 hours and nothing, the phone was still stone-dead and what was even more worrying, completely cold - no heat-up from charging.
I tried connecting it to my PC - the computer didn't even recognize ANY device was connected to it. Just to be sure, I tried Nokia Software Recovery Tool, but sure enough, it was not able to detect the phone. The phone seems to be dead meat now, but when I put it on my desk wireless charging stand, the stand's indicator lights up, although the phone does nothing and stays that way.
Yesterday I updated my Lumia 1020 to Lumia Cyan. I've been using WP 8.1.1 with developer preview. Today I left my phone at home, I didn't use it and when I tried to pick it up I actually got scared, it was so extremely hot that I thought it will explode. After few seconds I got warning that battery is low but I know that it was around 70% when iI left it(I've left it only for 1 hour). I turned it off so it could cold before I charge it.
There seems to be an inconsistency in safe mode working on the Droid Bionic using the technique as described by Verizon. If any of you have the opportunity to test the safe mode procedure, please go here and report back as to whether safe mode works on your phone.
