IPhone :: Bought Unlocked Phone - Will Restoring Backup To New Unlocked Phone Restore It To Its Original Locked State
Mar 4, 2010So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?

Apr 20, 2012I changed my contract from an iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4 in may 2011. Since then my USB does not work properly and the earphones, well one ear works and the other doesn't. I then went online to check if I could get a replacement for both which I am still not sure that accessories are covered under tha warranty. Then I put my serial number and it said that my phone was out of coverage which doesn't make sense as I got the phone in may 2011 and it's only April 2012.Not a year yet.

May 1, 2012I left for work this morning and I would love to listen to some music but but apparently the library is empty. I have a lot of music that I put on my iPhone 4 using my old computer. And I have not synced my phone since. I have not been able to access that music for a few days now. I did still have access to all the music that I purchased from iTunes and all the music that I uploaded to the cloud using iTunes match on my new computer. But now apparently my music folder is completely empty.

Feb 18, 2010I'd really be grateful to you if could help me out with this. I have got a locked Nokia N91. I went to a local mobile repair shop which claims to unlock branded phone. While it was being unlocked, the phone got some error for some unknown reason and now whenever I start my phone, all it says is ' phone start-up failed, contact the retailer' the repairer says the phone's IMEI is damaged which I have confirmed from various repair shops and would need some RPL file (which I haven't got any idea about) and since Nokia servers are down its not possible right now, he tells me to wait for a bit before the servers are up on the run again. I have no idea if its even true. All I want to know is Can My Phone really be Repaired? And if Yes whats the Criteria for doing so? And if i take my phone to Nokia repair shop. I am afraid they would not fix it since they haven't got a license to unlock branded phones.

Jan 29, 2010Knowing the right way to pose this question is probably harder than answering it.I want to use an ATT Nokia 6750 phone in Mexico with cell provider Telcel. I have to unlock the phone. No problem. Lots of places in town will do that for a fee. I also want to buy Telcel's 3G service and use it on the same phone. A possibly uninformed Telcel agent says it's impossible because the phone has ATT's software not Telcel's. I suspect he is wrong.
Will an unlocked ATT phone with a Telcel SIM successfully connect to a 3G network OR is there some Telcel software gatekeeper to prevent this? Do you suppose he is just talking about the Access Point configuration? Any ideas? Partial answers are often helpful it you don't have the full answer.

Although there is an authorized dealer nearby, the iPhone from there would cost $400 more. However, I am really willing to buy a factory-unlocked iPhone 4 instead of a software-unlocked one, and I am going to check out the unauthorized dealer tomorrow. I am afraid that the salesman would trick me into buying a software-unlocked one without my knowledge. The reason for which I want a factory-unlocked iPhone is so that I wouldn't have to jailbreak it each time I update it and risk getting it locked by mistake in case that there is no available software yet to unlock it. Therefore, I would like to know what are some features that would help me identify a factory-unlocked from a software-unlocked iPhone.For example, what is the default iPhone software that Apple releases with all iPhone 4's (if there is a default software version)? Would the Cydia icon be visible on a software-unlocked iPhone (I'm afraid that it would be hidden in some way)? Feb 9, 2010I bought an Iphone 3G on Craigslist last night to use on T-mobile. When I got the phone it was restored to factory settings so I took it home, plugged it into Itunes, and set it up. Upon connecting it to Itunes it said your phone is unlocked. Now, the guy who sold it to me said he originally bought it on Ebay from Australia. Does that mean its 'factory unlocked'? Everything has worked fine since I put my T-Mobile SIM card into it except MMS. Looking online for solutions I've found that people recommend downloading 'Legacy' through Cydia but my Iphone isn't Jailbroken. So I have no Cydia app. I don't necessarily want to Jailbreak but if I did could I do it from firmware 3.1.3?

May 8, 2010IPhone 3G OS 3.0 jailbroken and unlocked. Phone wont charge, or turn on. I get the silver apple, but it shuts off after that. Reset method of home key and power yield same result. Itunes does not see phone. When I hold home key, the Itunes logo and USB cable appear and I am able to get it on Itunes, with option of restore to factory settings. Several questions and concerns:
1) This will wipe all data and contacts?
2) My OS will return to 2.2 something i belive. Can i still download OS 3.0 and the firmware to needed? Phone must be unlocked/jailbroken for use on my carrier.

Jun 12, 2010I bought a second hand Iphone 3gs which is working fine on other carrier (not AT&T) . So I know its not locked, it also came with Cydia installed so I know its jailbroken. But in Cydia I don't see any of the unlock Packages or Sources that are supposed to be used to unlock the iphone. Does that mean its officially unlocked? Right now its on 3.1 (7C144) and modem firmware 05.11.07.
