View 1 RepliesSo, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?

My girlfriend is also on AT&T, but she can't get the data package that AT&T now requires for all PDAs (including BlackBerries). However, our anniversary is coming up. And I'd LOVE to get her a BlackBerry Curve 8310 (her best friend has one and she LOVES it). If I purchase an unlocked one via eBay, will AT&T still slap a data plan onto her account once she inserts her SIM card and begins to use the phone? She actually has the internet blocked on her phone, so it can't access it even if she tries...but I've read where AT&T's system will begin charging once it recognizes a BlackBerry IMEI number - even if the phone is unlocked. Is this true, or will an unlocked Curve be ready for her to use?
I know BlackBerries are great devices and really meant for full use, but she really admires the keyboard's layout, the camera, and the look and function of the OS. So, I'd really like to get her a Cuve and introduce her to the BlackBerry world.
I bought an unlocked Blackberry Curve off of eBay, put my AT&T SIM card in it, and it worked great for about two weeks. Then I ignorantly downloaded a "free theme" and about a week after this, my Blackberry started freezing whenever I would go to make a phone call, the screen just goes black and it freezes until the hourglass comes up and the phone turns back on in about two minutes. Also, if someone tries to call me, my phone will do the exact same thing and they will go straight to voicemail. I have removed all the applications from my phone and done my best to wipe the entire system, but it still freezes whenever I try to make phone calls. It has pretty much stopped freezing at any other times besides when I am attempting to make phonecalls now so there is a slight improvement. Is there any way I can redownload the operating software (even though the phone is unlocked) or what else would be advised that I do?

While it was being unlocked, the phone got some error for some unknown reason and now whenever I start my phone, all it says is ' phone start-up failed, contact the retailer' the repairer says the phone's IMEI is damaged which I have confirmed from various repair shops and would need some RPL file (which I haven't got any idea about) and since Nokia servers are down its not possible right now, he tells me to wait for a bit before the servers are up on the run again. I have no idea if its even true. All I want to know is Can My Phone really be Repaired? And if Yes whats the Criteria for doing so? And if i take my phone to Nokia repair shop. I am afraid they would not fix it since they haven't got a license to unlock branded phones.

Knowing the right way to pose this question is probably harder than answering it.I want to use an ATT Nokia 6750 phone in Mexico with cell provider Telcel. I have to unlock the phone. No problem. Lots of places in town will do that for a fee. I also want to buy Telcel's 3G service and use it on the same phone. A possibly uninformed Telcel agent says it's impossible because the phone has ATT's software not Telcel's. I suspect he is wrong.
Will an unlocked ATT phone with a Telcel SIM successfully connect to a 3G network OR is there some Telcel software gatekeeper to prevent this? Do you suppose he is just talking about the Access Point configuration? Any ideas? Partial answers are often helpful it you don't have the full answer.

When I got the phone it was restored to factory settings so I took it home, plugged it into Itunes, and set it up. Upon connecting it to Itunes it said your phone is unlocked. Now, the guy who sold it to me said he originally bought it on Ebay from Australia. Does that mean its 'factory unlocked'? Everything has worked fine since I put my T-Mobile SIM card into it except MMS. Looking online for solutions I've found that people recommend downloading 'Legacy' through Cydia but my Iphone isn't Jailbroken. So I have no Cydia app. I don't necessarily want to Jailbreak but if I did could I do it from firmware 3.1.3?

Reset method of home key and power yield same result. Itunes does not see phone. When I hold home key, the Itunes logo and USB cable appear and I am able to get it on Itunes, with option of restore to factory settings. Several questions and concerns:
1) This will wipe all data and contacts?
2) My OS will return to 2.2 something i belive. Can i still download OS 3.0 and the firmware to needed? Phone must be unlocked/jailbroken for use on my carrier.

I bought a second hand Iphone 3gs which is working fine on other carrier (not AT&T) . So I know its not locked, it also came with Cydia installed so I know its jailbroken. But in Cydia I don't see any of the unlock Packages or Sources that are supposed to be used to unlock the iphone. Does that mean its officially unlocked? This problem is fixed when on speakerphone. It does not matter whether the call is sent or recieved from the phone. Obviously, I would like to be able to use it when not on speakerphone. This phone had no problems in this regard before I jailbroke/unlocked it.

View 15 Replies View RelatedBasically my phone slowly started turning off(no shutdown just straight off) after long periods in the car using the SatNav even when it still had over 40% power on the battery.
Eventually the other day it just started turning off every time I tried to open maps (whilst lost in some random suburb!)
And now if the phone is plugged on charge I can do whatever I want with it, as soon as I take it off charge it will stay on until I unlock the screen and try to do anything (swipe or open an app.) Immediately I though the battery was to blame but why would it stay on until I did something?
Now the stranger part, if I start my music, start the satnav etc whilst its plugged in then unplug it, as long as I don't unlock or do anything on the screen the phone will continue to work. I can even start and stop music, skip tracks from the lock screen, even unlock and lock it again, as soon as I try to load an app, boom it just goes black, not even a shut down, just straight to black.
I think this is a new issue, never noticed it before.
I set 3 alarms (just in case), 6:00, 6:15, 6:30.
First alarm went off, I pressed dismiss and went back to sleep.
Did not hear any other alarms go off.
Woke up at 6:33 by myself.. Alarm was not ringing, as soon as I unlocked the phone, 6:30 alarm went off and started ringing.
But that only happened after I woke up the phone with the power button....
I'll try to delete and make new ones.. weird..
