How can be sure if my iPhone 3G battery is dead or just needs a recharge?

My iphone 4 has suddenly stopped charging for some reason. I've had no signs of battery problems at all before this.
I've read that some people have managed to fix this problem by doing a hard reset, but my battery was dead before I tried charging it so I can't do this. (when I try I get the connect to power image) I've checked the phone for any signs of lint etc, and cant see anything obvious.
I've tried multiple cables and adapters and the usb slot on my macbook and none of these get any response at all. When I plug into a speaker dock I have got, I get the connect to power supply image on the screen.
The phone is 2 years old (almost to the day) seems they have made it last the exact length of my contract Was wanting to hold off upgrading till the next iphone comes out
My iPhone 4 got submerged in water for 5 minutes, I somehow got it working after all. Now, the phone will only turn on when connected to the charger (the battery is probably dead). The phone displays the apple logo then procceeds to the connect to iTunes screen. The problem is that since the phone wont hold a charge and only works when connected, I can't get the computer to recognize it when it's plugged in because it's turned off and dead. So since the computer won't recognize it, it won't give power to it, thus; making it not plug into iTunes.

Like I said I plug the phone in at night before bed. When I wake up in the morning, with the phone still plugged in, the phone is unresponsive. Pressing the home button brings up the "iPhone-is-charging-please-wait" icon, indicating that its out of battery power but will power up when its ready. So, I wait, and wait, and wait, and finally it powers up to reveal that the battery power is at 100%. iPhone 4, appx 1 year old not jailbroken no problems otherwise What's going on?

My mums iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1 had 30% battery left this morning then 10mins later I tried calling her and it rang out and went to voicemail.. 5mins later she noticed phone was unresponsive and had a black screen and pressing buttons wouldn't do anything oh and she didn't feel the phone vibrate or ring when i was calling... so after pressing both unlock circle and top button and putting on charge it appeared the phone had lost all battery power.
So the phone went from 30% to 0% in a matter of 15mins? We think the phone may still be under apple 1yr warrant but not sure. But any else experienced this issue and is there any I can do or should it be taken back to apple to look at?

For the past few days my iphone 5c has been giving me all kinds of battery problems. Yesterday it died at 40% and today it died at 50%. I read online that calibrating the battery works but it did no good to me. I purchased my phone of December of 2013 and there has been no significant damage (water, drops.etc) but yet i still can't get it to stay alive for more than two hours! Is this something that apple is willing to work with me on? Is this problem so simple that a battery change will fix it?

So, one day I couldn't find my iphone. I look and look and then I finally find it just sitting on my bed (upper bed). I try to turn it on and it does something weird. If it's dead, it will show the dead battery and the connection sign, but it didn't do it this time. It just stays black. I attempted to do the two button reset but my home button has been messed up for a while, sometimes it works but most times it doesn't. I tried plugging it up and keeping it plugged, nothing changes.Â
Is there some way I can open it to fiddle with the home button to maybe try and get that to work? Also, I'm using the OS 6.x not 7

I came home, put the phone on the charger for a bit, and then tried to restart it.
When it restarted, I had the safe mode thing in the bottom left corner, and most of my folders are now gone. The apps are still in my app listing, but are gone from my main screens...
I plugged my Torch in overnight to charge. When I woke up in the morning, the phone would not turn on so I took the battery out a few times and tried to reset it. When I plugged it into the charger and tried to turn it on, I got the battery symbol with a red X through it.

I already bought a new battery but that doesn't seems to be the problem.I have Handy Taskman to see which apps are running and I leave only email running with syncing to exchange every hour.Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor starters, my battery indicator does not seem to work. Even taking that into account, I manually check it constantly and it's at 100%. It never goes below that because the phone just suddenly goes black (and dead) every single day. There is no warning, nothing. So, I will recharge it and it shows that it IS charging though it will again be fully charged in about two hours. It is on the charger overnight, but will suddenly go totally black/dead every late afternoon without fail. Today, it happened even while I was typing. No, I haven't bought a new battery - I have taken it out and put it back in. I'm not convinced the battery is the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy battery goes completely dead but ONLY after i switch it off for the night. It seems to drain away but is perfectly OK during the day. I bought a new (Blackberry) battery and it does the same thing. Is there ac software fix for this or is my phone (bought from a reputable used hone store) just useless?I was also told that the little dot just inside the phone by the charger is supposed o be gold in colour and of it has turned blue then it means that the phone has water damage?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my BlackberryBold for 2 years. Now, the battery is dead within 4 hours. I use my Blackberry only as a phone., for texting and for the "Drive Safe App". Nothing else. It is fully recharged ( or so it indicates) every night. I still have 1 year on the contract with my provider.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had an N97 for 5 months, yesterday my battery drained completely, a normal drained, I didn't try to turn it on. I connected the charger to the phone and the white screen with nokia came up (first the white screen, then the blue nokia word). The usual symbol for the battery didn't show up. I left it like that, thinking it was charging. Then, I tried to turn on the phone but it didn't turn on, it stayed with the white nokia screen. I tried taking the battery off and putting it again and the same happened, checked the battery with a firend, it actually charged to 6 bars, but my phone won't start (also, tested with my friend's N97 battery). Connecting to PC has the same problem, the Pc doesn't realize something is connected.
Tried to leave it alone for without touching, and waiting hours for the white nokia screen to go away but nothing happens.
upgraded to 5.0 last nite.....dead battery 4 hours into the day with no cellphone use....what gives....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this has been posted already (apologies if so in advance), but I'm continually coming across the same issue with the battery. It is as follows:I come home from work in the evening and charge the device. The battery fully charges within a few hours and I go to bed.I get up maybe six or seven hours later and the device is completely dead - the battery is dead!
If that wasn't strange enough, every other morning I wake-up and the device is fully charged (still from the night before)?I have absolutely nothing running; I never use the caleandar and I've been a faithful user of Nokia N - devices for the best part of five years now, so I know to turn off everything in order to save battery charge.
My battery was low and I plugged it into my desktop with the USB cable. Now it is dead and I can't get it to charge?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Curve 8302. Yesterday the battery depleted unusually fast (with in about 2-3 hrs with hardly any use). I put it on the charger for about 3hrs. Still showed the battery symbol (top left) as dead. And the words low battery below the clock. I left it charge over night. Still same thing. I put the battery into a friends 8320 & it showed fully charged no problem at all. I can access the phone if I have it plugged into the computer or charger. But the moment I disconnect it says something along the lines of "battery drained powering down". And it turns off my phone. So I have discovered there wasn't anything wrong with the battery. So is there something wrong with the phone? Or is there something wrong with the firmware? Even when I go to the wrench Icon & check battery level from there, it say 0% for charged. What can I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just received my Galaxy S2, the first android phone I've ever owned. I've been advised to charge the battery for several hours the first time. When I plugged in the battery charger the battery charging icon appears for about 1 minute and then the screen goes completely dead when the charger is plugged in! Every phone I've had since the mid 90s constantly shows a battery symbol charging throughout the charging process. Is there something wrong with my phone or charger or does the Galaxy S2 not show anything on the screen when charging up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedObtained my Droid3 two weeks ago and I'm now finding that it will not charge.Long story short: I did not charge my device for 2 days straight, upon complete epletion of the battery's power I hooked it upto the wall charger and noticed that the screen turned on with the droid symbol and subsequently the charging icon. I left it to charge, and after a while when it was upto 15% I attempted to turn it on by pressing the power button (without holding it down), which caused the screen to go black and ceased the charging.ow whenever I try to charge the device via the wall charger, the white charging LED (between the microUSB and miniHDMI inputs) turns on occasionally and remains there for an hour, after which it goes off again. When I try to charge via the computer the same thing happens, except after 45min or so of charging, the device repeatedly connects and disconnects from the computer USB (the usb connection and disconnection sounds ping repeatedly until I unplug the device). This also happens when I try and turn on the device while charging via USB.
Normally after 45min of charging from the computer the device will turn on, with the Droid logo appearing and system activated. Now it will not turn on at all.I have tried removing the battery from the device for at least a min and then recharging, I've also tried removing and re-inserting the battery while the Droid3 is connected to the charger to no avail. To replicate the situation, I've left the battery without charging for a period of 48 hours, and then tried to charge it again via wall charger; same problem: the white LED turned on for about an hour and then went out. The device did not turn on this time. My suspiscions are on the battery..The phone is a great piece of hardware and I've grown to love it, yet I had honestly no idea it would be susceptible to such trivial conditions 3 weeks out of the box. I've ordered an extended battery just in case
My Atrix will not charge or turn on. While charging the green led blinks sometimes. When I press the power button the led goes solid for about 3 seconds then goes off but the phone never turns on.
