View 2 RepliesMy iPhone syncs with my gmail contacts, but they were all lost during upgrade. In the gmail account settings, it no longer allows me to select contacts for syncing. Has anyone else experienced this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my iphone 4 to the 5.1 software yesterday evening. Following upgrade my calendar, notes and bookmarks were still there but many apps missing, all music gone and most crucially most of my contacts have disappeared although I still have lots of text messages (numbers appearing rather than name) and emails. I have contacts only where their name begins with an A !All backups have disappeared too. I connected to an old laptop and managed to retrieve apps and the music which I had syned from that laptop previously but still no sign of the contacts.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1, problems following upgrade
Just upgraded wife's iPhone 3gs to latest IOS(5.1). After completion everything was good except all of her contacts were gone. I tried re-synching and nothing. I tried restoring and, I thought it had made a backup before the upgrade, but all backup copies were after the upgrade.

I upgraded the Iphone 4 tothe 5.1.1 OS and after the upgrade all the contacts have been lost? can I restore to a previous back up from last week?

when I was upgrading to 4, I got some error that came up (something like MobileBackup.exe has crashed, not too sure what it was) and it stopped restoring. However, it is still called "Anthony's iPhone", the same as during the last upgrade and I synced it so I still have all my old apps. Is there anyway I can recover all these lost contacts etc? It's basically like a new phone now with apps, I had to so the shift+restore method to upgrade as my iTunes account wasn't logging in.
Oh and btw, yes I was doing it on Vista because my iMac broke a few weeks ago, so no comments like "because you're on Windows" please :P
Within the past week I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1 and my iTunes to 10.6. When I synced the two with my usb cable, I lost my "Recently Added" and my "Recently Played" playlists on my iPhone. When I sync, I sync everything, not specific playlists. Both playlists remain in my playlist section of iTunes. To further troubleshoot the problem, I synced my old (but still loved) 80GB iPod Classic. The playlists remained on my iPod Classic. how to get my "Recently Added" playlist back on my iPhone?

My iphone recently lost sound on all the apps. The ringer works however. When I try and press the vloume button on the side all I see is the ringer logo. I dont see the level indicator. When I mute the sound and then unmute the sound i briefly see the level indicator. I can only change and hear sounds when I change ringer sounds. Video playbabck also has no sound. Apps installed also have no more sound.

I received an email message from Blackberry inviting me to upgrade my OS to 5.0.0.1, which I did wirelessly. At the end of the process, after the restart, I got a message that said "uncaught exception ....I pulled the battery and tried again a few times, but I kept getting the same message.I Goggled the error message and to my horror found hundreds of listing - most related to corruption errors! However, since my blackberry home screen appeared under the message warning, and it is supposedly a mission critical device and I need to work, I clicked ok and started to use my device again.
All seemed find until I noticed that some of my contacts were missing.Maybe about 10%. I determined that some of these missing contacts had been updated since my last back-up. Others had been on my BB for years.I decided to try and restore the address book from my last back-up.I launched my Desktop Manager 6.0.2 and tethered my Curve.First I backed up the "damaged contact list" as part of a full back up.All went well. Then I went to use a 2 week only back up file, that I made before the OS upgrade. But the address book field was dimmed. There were 4036 entries on the dimmed back up file. I had 4021 on my Curve, but many more than 15 were missing. Regardless, I couldn't restore because:
(Dimmed entries are data types that are read only . . . . )The only solutions to this problem I found via Google related to older OSes and devices and involved deleting service book entries which look nothing like the service book entries I found. Or, is simply a problem related to running a RIM application on a RIM device after an upgrade to one more "advanced" RIM OS from another RIM OS, at RIM's recommendation?
ost contacts and apps after android upgraded . I backup before i upgraded, and then restored. Got sms messages but lost all contacts and apps.

When I sync my iPhone, my recently added and my recently played wont sync to my phone. Why?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1
In my iTunes window, the playlists for my iphone 4s when it is connected show correctly. The playlists include 'top 25 most played songs', 'recently played', and 'recently added'. Although they appear in iTunes even after syncing, they do not show on my iPhone and I can not use them (they aren't there). But they continue to show in the iTunes list for the device. This is frustrating because I often like to play my recently added list or top 25.

Some (not all) of my contacts have recently started to go missing from my iPhone5. Not sure why.
Haven't made any changes to my settings. Only thing I can think of was that I deleted an old mail account that (1 of 3) I had coming in together into my mail inbox. Would these contacts have been linked to this mail account as a default?
The strange thing is that even after having since deleted the mail account, I can still search for and find some of the contacts in my phone. However, after sending them an SMS through iMessage (just this morning), the contact then erases itself and I'm only left seeing the number and have lost all the name and saved email data associated with the name. Â
I tried to do a restore by backing up my iPhone5 to iTunes/iCloud but this didn't work. Very time consuming to re-save all contacts manually.
So one day almost all my contacts disappeared. I tried to get them back by turning the phone off and on. I also tried to resync them from my account. None of that worked. So I manually added them again and resynced them again. After I added them, some have been disappearing again and again. I have readded contacts three times already. My phone has always worked fine except for the last three days.

But about 10 months before, I had added 2 very important contacts in it but now I had forgotten the name and number of the contacts I saved. So, is there is any solution to find recently added contacts or is there is any third party application because I always face these types of problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI find that I call and message the same people more regularly than the rest of my phonebook. As such, I believe it would be much easier to have a "Favorites" or a "Recently Used" section at the start of my phonebook to quickly find my most commonly contacted friends.
The "Recently Used" section could be similar to how Microsoft Word works where it saves your last 10 used fonts at the top of the menu when you click to change the font of your text. How do I go about suggesting this to Nokia to update their software?
I haved reset network setting, all of contacts erased, can I recover the lost contacts?

Lost wifi connectivity on 3GS after 5.1.1 OS upgrade. Have tried every remedy, short of wiping my whole phone (have done reboot, backup and restore, reset network settings, reset all settings, etc.). Apple says my "hardware must be broken." Hard to believe, with 350,000 hits with same problem on Google search, just in these few days since upgrade was released. I do not want to wipe my phone and start over (for obvious reasons), nor do I unnecessarily want to purchase a new phone (for even more obvious reasons).

I just upgraded an iphone 3gs from 3.1.2 to 5.1.1 and it properly updated the firmware then at the end tried to restore the data. While restoring it kept prompting me for a password which I don't have any setup so I pressed cancel and it started synchronizing but my messages and notes are not showing up! I'm particularly concerned because I checked the size of the backup and it's like 200 mb! that seems very small. Is there a way I can fix this so it sync back everything properly and otherwise how can I restore to my previous backup with the previous firmware?
