Occasionally my double-clicking of the home button does not launch my camera. To get that working again I have to go into setting turn off that feature and turn it back on.

My buttons seemed to have stopped working properly. In order to adjust the volume using the side button, I have to shut down the phone and then restart it. It will work for a while and then stops working and I have to go thru the process again. The home button just works whenever it wants. It doesn't fix the problem when I restart the phone. I can slide my finger in a circle around the button and it still doesn't work.

When I doube tap the home button to use the camera from the home screen, it sort of 'hops' up about 1/2 a cm, but then bounces back down without opening the camera app, this is only since the upgrade to 5.1. I tried a hard reset, but no joy (and no shortcut to the camera either!!)

Is there a way to completely disable the "double-tap" home button to start the iPod on the iPhone?
Currently, I have the double-tap to open up the camera.......however, when the phone is in lock mode and the home button is double tapped, the iPod turns on.
I don't want the iPod being activated by any means other than tapping on the iPod app icon.
Ok, so now our options for double clicking the home button are Home, Search, Favorites, Camera, iPod, and now multitasking??? 6 options? And if we DON'T want to use double click to go to multitasking what happens... we just lose multitasking all together? Many people have gotten used to and like being able to use the double click for our favorites or for the camera... and now we need to ditch that if we want to use the most desired feature of 4.0??? really? I mean, REALLY? It just seems like a pretty clunky afterthought to throw another double click option at us. Surely apple could have implemented something nicer.
Personally I think for multitasking they should use some sort of 3 finger gesture. Either a 3 finger swipe up (and keep the dock-like implementation apple chose) or a 3 finger zoom out (which would then zoom out to showing all active apps at once. imagine the tabs view in mobile safari.Additionally I think apple should add a dedicated camera button. That would solve the other double home button issue and this would make the iphone much more usable as a camera.
I know in iOS4 if you double tap the home button it gives you the multitasking option...is there a way to override that so the double tap can be ipod controls?
Im still on 3.1.3 waiting for the jailbreak 3gs, so I was just curious if a way existed for those who have been able to jailbreak their device.
just as the title really, I don't like it when the phone is locked that any1 can double tap and play the music.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBefore 4.0, my girlfriend had double-tap home button set to open camera app. Now, if she double taps home and holds that second tap it will still launch camera vs app switcher. Can someone see if this is stuck to whatever you previously had double tap home set to.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been tooling around with iOS4, and unfortunately one of the features I use the most appears to be missing. You can't customize the behavior of the home button anymore in Settings, and as such you can't set it to do things like open phone favorites, open the camera or open the iPod controls. This is kind of a downer since I used to use the double-tap for phone favorites all the time.
I know that previous reports about iOS4 said you could double-tap and hold to bring up phone favorites but that's not working anymore, it seems.
- Holding the home button brings up voice control.
- Double-tapping brings up the multitasking/recent apps bar along the bottom.
- Double-tapping and holding does nothing.
- Triple-tapping does nothing.
- Triple-tapping and holding brings up voice control.
I used have a music control even when the phone was locked. I can at least go to the next song, pause or go to the previous song. Now I don't have that option when the screen is locked.

My iPhone 4 running 5.1 has suddenly started crashing back to the shutdown animation when I double tap the home button. It's happening every time I click it, so I can't access the ?springboard??, the part where you can close apps, slide left to access volume, etc... It appears to jam, then drop back to the black screen with loader animation, then just a few seconds later, I see the lock screen again and have to enter my password...
It seemed to start after I installed some rubbish apps last night, but I've removed them since, but the problem persists. Maybe it's a coincidence, and not connected to the naff app..

Why does voice control keep opening up without pressing the home button? This happens when i'm listening to music or watching netflix. The songs will also skip and begin to fast forward without any buttons being pressed. I've done a restore on my iphone but this has not resolved the issue.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy 3gs iphone took 'the plunge' out of my pocket and into my toilet the other day. i was not happy. i immediately put the phone in some rice in a ziplock bag and waited. and prayed.today i took the phone out of its grain cocoon and was thrilled to see that it still worked. only problem? the home button is completely unresponsive. obviously i think this is a hardware issue, but what's really strange is that every time i restart the iphone (a few times), upon power up my phone goes immediately into voice control as if i pressed and held the home button. figuring there still may need some drying, i put the phone back in the rice for another 12 hours. questions:
1. does this whole voice control aspect put a software spin on this problem?
2. after i give the phone some more time with the rice should i do an update/restore?
3. should the genius bar be my next stop?
4. are there any other solutions out there besides this one: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=615755
so over the weekend, while I was away from home, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. It happened suddenly, and the only preceding events I can think of were that (1) we had heavy rain but I kept the phone in my pocket and neither my pocket nor the phone were wet when I took it out after the rain had passed (2) I downloaded the F1 timing app which initially had some crashing issues. I'm not sure if either of these contributed but it's possible. While the home button wouldn't work at all when pressed, I found that the voice control was starting automatically (and calling my contacts without me knowing). This would suggest a long press of the home button I think however I couldn't replicate it with the button. To avoid calling more contacts from my pocket I turned the phone off but it turned itself straight back on and always went straight to voice control after starting up. I finally got around this by leaving the phone on flight mode while not in use. I also found the accessibility setting to have an on-screen home button which made the phone slightly usable but not ideal.
When I charged the phone that evening it came up with the recovery screen requesting that I plug into iTunes. As I was away and without my laptop I was not able to do this but got through the weekend by cancelling lots of voice control pop ups and a lot of flight mode use. Now I'm home I have connected to iTunes and a restore was required. I followed this right through, the restore completes and when it reconnects to iTunes it says it needs to restore again. At this stage I can unplug it, turn it off and on again and use it.If it's turned on while unplugged it will start ok and then can be connected to iTunes and synced but the voice control will still start automatically after turning on and the home button does not work at all.If it's turned on while plugged in it will be in recovery mode and request a restore again.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhave had my iphone for almost 1 and a half years, and about 8 months ago my home button started wrecking; i would press it and it would either not open the iphone (take it off sleep mode to show lock screen) or the button would get stuck in and would start the voice control.. then about one week ago my vibrate button wasnt vibrating, even when i got a call or message or alarm... around one year ago, my camera started wrecking; like i would go into it and it would be blurry, and over the past year it has been getting worse and worse, and now i cant use my back camera at all.

A friend of mine has the iPhone home button as the button he uses to take a picture versus the regular shutter button on the camera app. He has no idea how it was done - as his son set it up. In all my research I cannot figure out how to do it.

how to trigger a Smart Action using the "double-tap" feature of the Home button? I would like a Smart Action to trigger the Vehicle Mode on my phone. I know that there is a blue tooth trigger to do so, but I do not have any blue tooth devices.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am constantly pressing the rewind or fast forward button when trying to pause or play the audio by using the controls on the lock screen. I normally listen to audio podcasts or audio books, and these are usually 2 hours plus long. When you hit the FFW button it's not a big issue and it will retain it's place, but if you are in the middle of an 11 hour audio book and you hit the rewind button it takes you all the way back to the beginning. That works properly, but I am constantly hitting the RWD or FFW button because they are so close to the play button.
