May 14, 2012A week ago I realised that my phone was heating up rapidly and my battery was being drained alarmingly fast before days end. I used to go a whole day and would only hit 50% battery use. After some research, reading and testing of my own, I can say with some certainty that after turning off the push notification and location services on my phone battery life has dramatically improved returning to pre update performance and the overheating has ceased.

Mar 12, 2012When restarted my computer and reconnects my iPhone, it now prompts saying that iPhone in recovery mode and I must restore before it can be used with iTunes. I am very sure there's 2 backup copies in my (default designated) computer folder, with one being dated 12Mar (the day of updating). I browsed the computer folder while waiting for the downloads in iTunes.
However the backup folder is now empty!! and I can't restore to any previous backup, and my phone cannot be turn on. The iTunes restore button asked if I wanted to restore to original factory settings. How could this happen?!! My Recycle bin has this item "iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw".
How can I retreive my previous phone backup, or just return to iOS5.0.1 with its data prior to the 5.1?

Apr 3, 2012I just upgraded from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4S. The salesman tried to sell me something called Zero Charger. I come home late and often just go to sleep. He told me if I declined the Zero Charger, I have to set the alarm for 1:00 A.M. to disconnect my iPhone from the wall, or the battery will be ruined in a few months. Is this correct? An iPhone user who comes home late cannot recharge his phone and go to sleep? I never heard that one. Also, are there any PC programs that cause a PC to work like Zero Charger? Meaning, when you connect your iPhone, they detect it, monitor the recharge, and shut off the juice when it is recharged?

Mar 28, 2012I have these voice memos on my iPhone 4 which I want to extract, and I've read that the way to do it is to perform a sync with iTunes. However, the iPhone was synchronised with an older computer, which is no longer working. I don't recall having performed any major syncing with that old computer, except for apps. So iTunes told me the usual stuff, that if I choose to sync with my current computer, the data from the iPhone will be deleted and replaced with the new content (there's none at the moment) from the current computer. Now, what I would like to know is: if I choose to synchronise music only (plus voice memos) by only checking the "Sync Music" checkbox under the "Music" tab, would the other stuff (apps, for example) still be removed as well and synced with the current computer (no apps)? The dialogue box which appeared and warned of removing my existing data (and syncing with the current library) made me hesitant to proceed...
I'm ok with clearing music, because there are no music pieces on the iPhone in the first place. What I'm worried about is that the other stuff will be removed as well. Logically, I'm thinking it shouldn't, since I'm only asking iTunes to sync my music, but can anyone confirm this?

After that the charge does not go higher than 2% and it turns off after barely a minute of usage and there is no charging sign on the battery icon. May 21, 2012Telephone sounds are working. In Settings>Sounds, ringer slider works and makes sample ring, but everything below that does not make sounds. Any sound sampled there is silent. "Change with Buttons" is on, but if you push either button, the little popup comes up normally, but does not display the progressive dots like it usually does. (never seen those dissappear before) 'Lock Sounds' and 'Keyboard Clicks' are both turned on, but do not make sound when used. The phone rings, and voice conversation works normally, but incoming text and email alert chimes do not sound off as usual. Siri sound works fine. Did a power off, no change, did reset (Power and Home held for 10sec), no change. Did Restore from iTunes, then full backup from iCloud, no change.

Mar 14, 2010I have a 1st generation iPhone that was unlocked and jailbroken with ZiPhone. One day I was typing a text message/using internet (can't recall specifically) and a bunch of random keys popped up (as they do when you type) even though I had not pressed anything, and since then a portion of the screen no longer works. This portion is (in the context of text messaging), the top row of the keyboard, and the area where you have the actual message (hence I cannot press 'send').
I repeatedly tried the reset technique involving holding the home button and power button, but had no results. Recently I have reset the home screen and now have a "how to rearrange home screen icons" thing in the middle of my screen whenever I turn the phone on, and I cannot press "ok" due to the problems in the screen. Any idea what the problem may be, or what I can do about it?

My phone was fully charged sitting in the charger all night as per norm, but when I woke up I hade a frozen white screen so I pulled the battery for over 2 min's then put it back in the red LED was constant for 15-20 seconds then off. I have tried charging it and tried putting on a new OS but as soon as I plug any USB in the phone the LED will go off and will not be recognised by my laptop nor will I get any charging LED.

May 18, 2011I have a 9700, originally from wind, unlocked, now on mobilicity. I've setup tethering through the BB management software, everything appears to connect. However, when I try to access any websites, I'm redirected to a 'pay for another account' style webpage. From there I can click 'return home' which brings me to mobilicity's mobile web home page but if I click anywhere there, it brings me back to the 'pay for another account' page. I have a working data plan and have checked with mobilicity and they say there's nothing extra I would have to pay for. I think it may have to do with the phone coming from another network or being unlocked.

At this point, when I boot up the phone, I can enter my sim-pin, start the camera by the dedicated button and touch objects to focus. I can also select things in the restart/shut down menu. However, the lock sceen is all but responsive. The fact that I have partial touchscreen functionality gives me the hope that the problem is software related rather than a hardware issue. However, since I can't get past the lock screen, it's also impossible for me to reboot the phone to factory settings.

Apr 12, 2012On my Evo Design, the top notification bar will partially slide down automatically sometimes. In order to use the phone I have to lock the screen and then unlock it. It's not a HUGE problem, it's just a pain in the butt. Anyone know what's going on, and possibly what could fix it. When I first went into Sprint and showed them the issue, they recommended that I delete all of the downloaded apps on the phone. That didn't work. Then they told me to do a master reset. That didn't work either. It's rather annoying as it happens, usually, a few times a day at least.

Sep 25, 2011Before the gingerbread update, the LED worked great. It always blinked when I had a text message waiting for me, or anything else.After the gingerbread update, most of the time the LED won't blink if you lock the phone while still in the messaging app. It still works fine for everything else (Emails, calendar etc) but if you lock the phone before exiting out of the texting/messaging app, I would say %90 of the time the LED won't blink. If you exit the messaging app before you lock your phone, the LED works fine.
The LED worked great in froyo, sucks that's its kinda broken on gingerbread. Is this a known issue for Moto? Just adding in that I have already tried a factory reset and this did not resolve the issue.
