IPhone :: Missing A Status Icon For The Ring / Silent Switch
I really like my iPhone, it's easily the best of say the dozen or so cellphones I've had during the last 21 years. But there's a small feature I miss: the crossed-out loudspeaker icon (to be shown whenever the Ring/Silent Switch is set to silent). On my previous phones it was usually placed in top left corner of the screen, together with signal strength etc. I wish the iPhone would show that icon as well. I've missed a few calls due to unknowingly having flipped the Ring/Silent switch. And being in another room, it does not help that my iPhone vibrates as well.
Otherwise I think Apple has done well by limiting the flavors of status icons in the top left corner. But a "no ringtone" status icon would be swell.

IPhone :: 3G Silent Switch Won't Stay Silent
A few months ago on my 3G, I tried switching my silent switch over and it wouldn't stay silent. The switch does go fully to the left side, but it doesn't do the typical vibrate and show the silent graphic on the phone. BUT if I ever so slightly nudge it to the left it does go to silent but there is no way to keep it in place.
It is almost as if there is something in the way or maybe there is a short? My warranty is no longer valid, but the phone is in perfect condition, has been cased. It makes no sense.
Anybody have any advice, because I would like to sell the phone soon but obviously do not want to sell it without the silent working. I guess I could go to a cell phone repair shop but they charge a $30 diagnosis fee and then apply that to the repair. I do not want to get screwed.Anybody have ANY advice or experience with the switch conking out on them. Any home remedies?

IPhone :: Silent Switch
I was sitting in church today with my Silent Switch engaged. All of a sudden my phone started to emit my ringtone. I beat a hasty retreat and saw that my Clock Alarm was going off. Apparently this is the way it works. To me a Silent Switch should Silence everything. So, my question is why was it designed that way.
And, is there any chance that could be "fixed" in the next OS.

IPhone :: 3GS Silent Switch Not Working
I recently dropped my iPhone 3GS from the desk in my bedroom. I checked to see if it worked fine, and it did. No scratches or nicks. After that, I found that the Silent switch does not work. I flip it down and receive no notification that the phone is on silent, no on-screen & vibrate notification. So, I tested it by calling my phone from the home phone - and my iPhone 3GS rang and vibrated.
I checked the settings and I even did a reset. Should I do a full reset (Erase All Content and Settings option)?

IPhone :: 3G Silent Switch Not Working
just getting familiar with my unlocked iphone 3g. it is jailbroken and i have installed and run various apps to customize my sounds. i have noticed that when using my silent switch, the bell indicator that should appear on the screen does not appear and subsequently my phone rings when the switch is in the silent position (with the dot showing on the switch).
has anyone found themself in a similar position? what is the fix? it is important for me to be able to enjoy the sounds i want on the phone but also use the silent switch.

IPhone :: Loose Silent Switch
So I'm curious if others have this issue or not. When i went to the ATT store to pick up my iPhone, I noticed that the Silent button was loose and you can hear it rattle when you move the phone. It's not noticeable while it's not on silent. The most annoying thing is that when it is on silent and I put it down, I hear a small rattle.
Am I nuts for taking that back to ATT and swapping it out? I don't want to have a phone that I hear a loose button rattle every time I put it down.Anyone else w/ the same thing?

IPhone :: Assign A Silent Ring?
IVe been getting robot sales calls many times a day. Im on the do not call list and I've filed several complaints but the calls keep
COming. The calls come from 4 or 5 distinct (out of state) numbers. I thought I might save them to my address book and assign a "no ring" to them. But there's no option for that. I'm stuck with hearing some kind of ring if I use that method

IPhone :: Vibrate / Turn On The Silent Switch?
Wen using the otterbox I know to turn the ringing down you can just use the volume buttons on the side to turn it down. I was wondering if there is a way to fix it so everything will vibrate like it does when you turn the silent switch on?

IPhone :: Alarm Not Silenced With Silent Switch
I'm surprised not to see any comments on this. I entered a meeting and silenced my phone. Moments later to my horror my alarm sounded! Evidently the alarm functions DO NOT silence with the flick of the silent switch. Therefore, each time I enter a meeting I must turn off all alarm times (which I have a few). Does anybody have any way around this? I'm surprised Apple would not make the silence switch to silence everything. Any ideas is appreciated.

IPhone :: Ringer Has Gone Silent / Mute Switch Is Off
My ringer has gone silent, even though the ringer mute switch is turned off. In addition, I cannot hear anything when I attempt to play my voice mail. The volume is set as high as it can go.I think this explains the problems I was having with playing back my voice mail messages.

IPhone :: 3G Silent Ringer Switch Broke Off!?
Today i switched my iPhone 3G to silent, and the slient ringer switch fell off . I did not push it hard at all. I can see that they put almost half of a drop of glue and stick it on it is made VERY cheaply! I live in Canada. Will apple repair this for free (Is it covered under warranty) or will they just completely replace the phone, or will it have to be sent in for repair etc? I will call Apple tomorrow but they are not open right now and wanted to know what you guys thought.

IPhone :: 3G Silent Ringer Switch Stiffness
So my silent switch on my iPhone 3G is kinda stiff, and I've heard that stiffness is one possible indicator of a faulty silent switch. Also, the metal cap part kinda jiggles when I thumb it. So far, I've been lucky that nothing has happened with it (like the metal cap falling off), but I'm getting sorta paranoid as time goes by.
I got my iPhone 3G way back in July and never realized how much stiffer my switch was until I tried out my friend's iPhone 3G and found his to be smooth and easy to flip. Mine does "click" when I flip it from ringer-to-silent and silent-to-ringer, but every time I flip it, I feel like I'm going to snap it off because it flips over so hard and sharply. To compare, my switch goes like "on-off" really fast and hard, while my friend's is more "onnn-off" and really gradual/smooth.
Am I just being too picky about this? I never really had a problem with it until I read about other people's metal switches coming off and trying other people's switches. Would Apple even let me switch out for a new iPhone 3G since nothing (as far as I'm aware) is actually broken?

IPhone :: Messed Up Silent Toggle Switch?
So this just recently started happening. When I slide the switch down (thus putting the phone on vibrate) it'll freak out and go back and forth between loud and vibrate. Touching the screen or the phone causes it to switch back and forth as well (i'll vibrate to signal). The other day the physical switch showed it was on vibrate but it was audible and playing sounds. The switch isn't actually broken off, and I don't think it's a software problem. Has anyone else had this issue? Phone hasn't been dropped and doesn't have any water damage

IPhone :: App That Allows A Contact To Ring Even In Silent Mode
Has anyone come across an app yet that will allow the phone to still ring even in silent mode?
I want to be able to NOT hear any of the emails or texts at night when I go to sleep but at the same time, I want to be able to have the phone ring through from certain contacts - in case of emergencies from my parents or my son.

IPhone :: 3G Silent Switch Fell Off Jailbroken / Out Of Warranty
Any suggestions here? My finally had my silent switch fall off my 3G (it's actually less than a year due to a replacement) but I'm out of warranty and it's jailbroken. Do I take it in to the Genius Bar as is? De-jailbreak first? Or am I screwed even if I restore and take it in?
Just looking for some advice from someone who's gone through a similar situation...

IPhone :: Cannot Adjust Volume Using Side Buttons And Silent Switch Not Working
All of a sudden I have a problem with the volume on my phone. I know it isn't a problem with the speakers as all my videos play normally with sounds, and when I try to change the ringtone, it plays. However, I cannot adjust the volume using the volume buttons on the side, and the silence switch doesn't work...when I press any of them, there is no on screen confirmation of a change. The ohphone also doesn't play any noise when I have an incoming call or text. But I like I said, I can play videos with sound, I can go to settings and sound and hear the ringtones. I have reset, and restored the phone but nothing has made any difference.

BB Bold 9000 :: Is Possible To Temporarily Switch To Silent Mode?
I had the option to switch my phone to silent for a period of time of my choice. After that the phone would switch back to normal. The benefit of this was that I could never forget to switch back to normal. For example at the beginning of a meeting with an estimated duration of 2 hours, I would program the phone to a 2 hours silent period and after that it would switch back to normal. This was so handy. Is that possible at my BlackBerry 9000?
