How do I get my contacts and other information from my backup once I have updated iphone with most recent update?

Cant understand why the backup to PC of vital Lumia phone information such as contacts, calendar and messges can not be easily and quickly achieved as with the Nokia suite and N8. I believe it is synced automatically to Sky-drive but I cannot find evidence of this. I would like to have control of this data for easy retrieval and stored on my PC. Windows phone software on my PC is sub standard in comparison with Nokia Suite. It is clunky, contacts cannot be backed up, photos have no picture reference when transferred and the overall Windows Phone software on my PC is second rate in contrast to the Windows Phone 8 phone experience. Can anyone enlighten me on how I can easily copy my contacts to PC. No problem getting contacts into the phone. Just unclear on how to get a copy of them out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup?When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today.The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone.What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?

iphone messed up so i backed it up at 1:46am so i could basically restore my phone as new. anyways, tried to restore from my backup at 1:46am and there's not an option to restore it from. it has one from 2am, so i clicked that and i lost everything. not really sure why. also went to itunes>preferences>devices and my backup from 1:46am is there but i'm not sure what i can do about it. viewed it in finder and dragged it to my desktop just incase i need to use it.

I just deleted an iMessage thread on accident. I went to plug my phone in to restore from a backup I did last night, but of course it automatically synced as soon as I plugged it in, and now it wants to restore from the backup it just made (in which the messages have already been deleted). Is there a way to select a backup point inm the past that is not the most recent one? I am not using iCloud (yet).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently restored my iPhone4 on my Mac computer and I'm absolutely freaking out because my iTunes will not locate the correct backup (even when I left click on the iPhone icon in iTunes tool bar and select "Restore from Backup"). However, I can locate the file on my computer from the Library/ApplicationSupport/MobileSync/Backup. I've tried dragging it a bunch of different places/renaming the file to get it to show up in iTunes but nothing's working I saw that before I completed the most recent backup, it said the date before that was around mid-Jan 2012. The only backup file my iTunes can find is from 2010! My phone is not jail broken but if that's what it would take to get all of my data back.... I'm basically deserate.

i initiated and ios upgrade to 5.1.1 from my phone b/c it said it was already downloaded... after i kicked it off, it says i needed to connect to itunes.. however, it then said i was in restore mode.. after downloading the 800+gb download... it only gave me the option of restoring from an old restore... i thought since it said downloaded, the phone only need to update files and not the entire os. therefore i didnt perform a backup first.

after I updated to belle FP1 from the phone itself (sw update) the contacts do not work, the list is dislpayed but if I choose a contact a black screen appears and contacts program crashes.I did the following:Hard reset the phone by turning off then pressing the home+volumedown+camera+ON buttons, but did not help. (this step made me lose all ovi apps such as maps, store,...etc)Connected the phone to OVI suite and made a software re-install but also wasn't helpful still the contacts do not work and lost the most important apps.

When I did, I started the activation process, but never got prompted to restore from iCloud, just from my last backup in iTunes. I've run the restoration, and the backup was pretty out of date. Is there a way to restore the backup I'd set up in iCloud at this point?

As you know, the HTC has a built in backup system that stores to dropbox.
Before an RMA I used this to backup my phone and files. When it returned I was about to hit restore, and accidentally hit the create a new backup button.
The problem I'm having now is that the software seems to remember the last backup, so I cannot access the one I need to restore.
I've tried deleting the newer backup on dropbox, but then the restore software simply says there is no backup to restore from.
I'm starting to think HTC may well have the worst software dev team in existence if this is an intentional 'feature' to prevent you using an older backup.
I accidentally updated the iphone to version 5.1.1 without a recent backup!! Now it seems that I have lost most of my data except for my contacts!! Is it possible to retrieve my previous data?

Today I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer.Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup.After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process.I left it restoring for a while. When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap.But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & Facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere.

Since then I never connected the phone to the computer again until yesterday to update the software. In the middle of my first attempt to update there was a crash so I started again but for my surprise after de update has finished and i reinitiate the handset it seems that almost eveything was wiped out, I had to reinstal all the applications and when the phone was on it came the option the contacts from sim to be installed but then i have some contacts missing and part of the info of some of the ones that still there are also missing, the weird thing is the pictures that i had in the phone are all there.... DO you think theres anyway to get the contacts back? SHould I restore from the backup of the 9700 that i did when i bought the new phone?

The names of contacts from iphone does not appear in the recent calls, only numbers. I think the settings are different, eg, the numbers appear in the contacts: (333) 333-3333 and the recent calls appears :3333-3333.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my iPhone 4 last Sunday and since then, every time I send a text to a non-iMessage user, if the text is over 20 characters, I'm being told that it cuts off the last word and sends it as a second text to my friends. Is anyone else having this trouble? I know it isn't a big issue, but it's annoying to my friends to send two messages and the second only has one word in it. I'm with Sprint, but I can't imagine it being a carrier problem, right?
