IPhone :: "could Not Connect To Cellular Data Network"
Apr 3, 2012
This message keeps popping up when my phone tries to connect. I can no longer send or receive SMS messages or emails. I have tried to reset network setting but that has not solved the issue.
I bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?
I used the internet normally, untik such a time that i decided to chance my network from zain to mobily (networks from KSA), however, i cannot chage the APN since it is missing. im rinning ai IOS 5.1.1 iphone 4S. how could i bring back the cellular data network? as far as i know i have that before (IOS 5) and im not sure if the update took it off or some other reason.
I just got an iPhone 3 because my android one stop working. I am not sure how to use my 3G connection because when I go on. Safari or Facebook it says you could not connected because you are not subscribed to a cellular network data. What do I do?
i have a 8g 3g iphone already jailbroke version 3.1.2 carrier 5.5 , my mms was working with att an my service gotten turned off. so i put my work tmobile sim card n phone an got mms working with some help on here. so now i have mt att service back on an mms is not working i dont have cellular data network option like i did before any help
i am not seen cellular data network options in my iphone 4s and i am unable to your gprs service from service provider please help and i also did not see the option for 3G?
How will I get to know that my phone is currently using wifi network or my mobile network while using data services? Can i install whatsapp without either purchasing it or jailbreaking my iphone?
I bought a new unlocked iPhone 4s, my problem is that the phone does not connect to Internet using cellular data, iOS 5.1.0, however it works fine on wi-fi networks. I called up my cell company and they could not help, I am using airtel 3G in India since last 10 years, and this is my third iPhone, I never faced any such problem before. I am unable to send and rcv emails on edge or 3G, can't access Internet also.
I tried using my sim on another iPhone 4s and the 3G worked, even edge worked,
I used another iPhone's sim in my iPhone, and the cellular data did not work- so it was clear that there was something wrong in the hand set
Now on checking forums I tried many things Turned off and on airplane mode - cellular data did not work Reset network settings - cellular data did not work Reset all settings - cellular data did not work Erase all content and settings - cellular data did not work Removed sim and put it back - cellular data did not work Soft reset - cellular data did not work Hard reset - cellular data did not work.
if there is something I can do to get my 3G or edge working, is there a possibility of defective handset.
My wife's phone stopped working last weekend. I went through the T-mobile technical care people and their solution was to replace the phone. Unfortunately the phone has a small crack in the bottom bezel so they won't replace it unless I pay the $175 deductible. I am hands on enough to fix some parts of the phone (I've replaced the screen on my G3 twice) so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
Her phone will work on wifi, but if you turn wifi off or if she goes out of wifi range her phone stops working. When the t-mobile person tried to have me manually connect it to the network, it said unable to connect to the network, please try again. We did a soft and hard reset. They tried to refresh my network connectivity and none of these options worked. We moved the sim card into my phone and it worked just fine. So obviously there is a hardware issue going on.
Anyone else have the issues of calls dropping as they are placed and/or "Cannot Connect to the Cellular Data service" when you try open email or Safari?
AT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:
39 04/06/2012 09:36PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0040 04/06/2012 10:35PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0041 04/06/2012 10:41PM phone Data Transfer 369,759 KB 30.00
If all of the data from 6 April was 'rolled up' into the massive 369.8 megabyte transaction at 10:41pm, why are there two small transactions at 9:36pm and 10:35? We installed Onavo to try to get to the bottom of this;; I will post the results at the end of the current billing cycle.

Still struggling to get to grips with my new iPhone 4S....Reading the User Guide it says "to turn Cellular Data off go to Settings/General/Network then turn Cellular Data off".The only problem with my phone is that "Cellular Data" does not appear in the Network screen. However "Mobile Data" does.is it the the same thing? For cost reasons I would like to be in control of when I use the internet and already I have inadvertantly incurred charges without being aware that I had gone on to the internet. Will selecting "Mobile Data" to "OFF" solve my problem.
what does this mean? i just got my iPhone 4 today and i was on the road (apple store is an hour drive from where i live) and i was texing my friends, had:
celluar data: OFF enable 3g: OFF data roaming: OFF
and i kept getting this response "turn on cellular data or use Wi-FI to access data" anyone know how to fix this? am i suppose to leave Cellular data on? i turned it off because i thought it would be wasting data. (got 200MB plan)
Im from the Philippines and my cellular network is Globe. My sim card is not read by my iPhone; showing "No Service". Is because of the sofware verion? How will i make it work?
I am currently abroad in Vietnam where Verizon Wireless does not connect; meaning I can only use my iPhone with wifi, in airplane mode. I've been trying to set up iMessage, but keep getting the "Waiting for activation..."- is there anyway to set up iMessage while abroad and unable to connect to my wireless network/receive SMS?Ā
