I have a Nokia 5000 that I bought and used in China for a couple years with no problems and now I am back in the U.S.
I have since signed up for AT&T with an iPhone but had a free card for T Mobile prepaid I would like to add to this phone.
I called today and gave them the activation, sim #, IMEI #, etc. and everything went well BUT the cell phone does NOT see the network. I can't make any calls and when calling my new number from another phone it goes straight to voicemail.
Does T Mobile require a special phone to use their prepaid service? I was under the impression that you could use any phone. Also I was under the impression that this phone is NOT locked because in China 99% of people DON'T use contracts but rather just buy prepaid minutes anywhere you go. And this is exactly what I did - just add minutes every few months.
I also thought that if your phone is locked when you put in a SIM card it will basically not let you access the phone. Mine does not do this. I can still access all features. It's just that there is no service.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this situation? I am definitely not that educated on cell phones, unlocked, hacking them, etc and this phone is not worth my time going to too much trouble. But if it's at all possible, I would like to get this to work as a backup.
know if this 9788 works out of China?9788 is TD-CDMA system specially for China Mobile; this phone works fine in China; but it stops getting Emails after arrived Malaysia; phone call and text message are fine; it gets a small "edge" (not EDGE) , we checked the BB service status is fine, did battery pull, switch between several carriers, 2G only, data service while roaming is on; it can only get edge on Digi 2G; get emegency call only on all other carriers?

Want to get a headstart on a memory card for my 9800. All the literature about specs refers too Micro SD not Micro SDHC. Are these inter-changable, It seems tougher to get a high capacity Micro SD?

I live in China and have a China iPhone 4S Model MD242CH currently subscribed to China Mobile. I will be going on vacation in Canada and I want to be able to take my iPhine 4S with me and change out my China Mobile MicroSIM card for a Canadian carriers MicroSIM card (Rogers Wireless, Fido Solutions, Bell Mobility, Telus Mobility, ???). It would also be nice if the 3G (or 2.5G GPRS/EDGE) works. What about my iPhone 4S WiFi ??

My mum bought me an Iphone 4S in duty free in South Korea airport, she was told it was unlocked, however, when I tried to activate it with my Kazakhstan sim card, it said that I had to use sim card of certain providers. I've checked the model's number in the Internet (MD237C/A), and from what I've learnt my Iphone is supposed to be unlocked.

Someone got a brandnew N97 from O2 in Germany. The interesting thing is the packages says "Made in China". My own N97 was made in Finland, as expected. Does Nokia really assemble some N97 in China? Or could this be a faked phone!? But I do not expect O2 to sell faked phones. What does Nokia say about this? Here you can see a picture of the package:

How will I get my Micro-Sim from AT&T. I pre-ordered my iPhone from Apple and I have it shipping to my house, how will I get my Micro-Sim? Will it be sent to me by AT&T or do I have to go to AT&T and get one?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo since the iPhone 4 will have a Micro SIM, how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM? I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. Will the Apple Store be able to transfer the cards, or will I have to go to the ATT store later and have them do it? Also, think ATT would charge me anything for doing it? Thanks Guys.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI am planning on upgrading to the iPhone4 on launch day, or as soon as I can after. However when I am going out and having a few beers I like to take an old phone with me so that I don't need to worry about getting drunk and loosing it.
Obviously with the iPhone4 I will no longer be able to just switch the sim card like I do at the moment. I have searched on the internet and found this product
http://www.noosymicrosimadapter.com/cp/html/?39.html
This would be the perfect solution for my problem, but I can't seem to find any online store that sells it. I was wondering if anyone has managed to get hold of one or knows of anywhere that this can be purchased?
I am getting the iPhone 4, but I am keeping my JB'd iphone 3GS to use MyFi to connect my iPad when I am traveling. With the new phone it uses the micro sim, is there such a slot that will fit into the regular sized sim card and hold my micro sim?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been wondering about this. So, when I receive my new iPhone 4, I am assuming that it will have the new micro sim already installed in the phone. I won't just be able to pop my old regular sim into it. I'm thinking that I will go to iTunes to setup the new iPhone 4 and do all of the rate plan setup and somewhere along the way it will transfer my current phone number to my new iPhone 4's micro sim. Do you guys think this is the way it'll work?A drawback to this new micro sim thing is that I no longer will be able to swap the sim from my iPhone 4 to any old phone that i may wish to use for whatever reason. But I'm thinking that there will be adapters that will work just fine, so that won't really be a problem. Just throwing this out there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat is the point of it other than it's smaller size?? Is there any real working benefit?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI sold my iPhone4 to stay with my 3GS. ATT said I need to get a new sim to keep my 3GS since I had to activate my iPhone4 which wiped out my old sim. Do I ship the iPhone4 with the micro-sim or no?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using my husbands upgrade to get the iPhone 4 & was wondering if I am going to be able to use the Micro-SIM that comes with it on my line or will it be activated to his line? Oh, & I will be pre-ordering from Apple online.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have the iPhone 3GS, iPad 3G, iPhone 4 and a micro sim adapter.I would like to use the new micro sim from the iPhone 4 to use on one of these three devices at a time as I choose. Is this possible? I'm aware of the changes to the iPad APN that needs to be made. Also, if the new micro sim will not allow me to do it, can I just cut my exising sim from my 3GS and use on the iPhone 4 instead? Main concern is AT&T detecting and either charging me additionally or disabling data plan on my account.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi just cut up a verizon sim card and inserted it into the phone and it says no sim card. i didnt cut any of the gold contact. i have a regular tmobile sim that is active and i wanna use it in my iphone 4 but im worried if i cut it up its not gonna work
View 23 Replies View RelatedWhat happens when you “reactivate” your iPhone 2g with the i4 micro sim and micro sim adaptor? Wondering what happens with the data plan if you change over to the iPhone 2g in case of emergencies/unforeseen circumstances, or if you need a phone that is more acceptable for loss or damage. Will this change the unlimited aspects of the plan? Does this re-sign you up for 2 years from the reactivation of the 2g, or does it just continue service as one would think it should, as there is no subsidy or contract renewal going on.I know its early, but has anyone tried this yet?
Assuming att makes this a poor choice for users to swap phones when it is advantageous , what are the option for making the iPhone 2g compatible with the new micro sim and the i4 simultaneously? Is JBing and unlocking the 2g a option to make the sims compatible simultaneously? Can anyone definitively answer this question at this point? Also a side question, I know I will want unlimited data for the foreseeable future, are there any precautions that I can take to lock myself in so att cant change my unlimited data to a limited plan? I have heard that some have called in and requested that there be a note on the account that no changes be made to the data plan without written conformation, is this a prudent solution to the issue?
