View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible for a phone to have water damage while the water damage indicator is inactive (white)
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I don't, the phone will not change time zones (when I am traveling) and sometimes will not pass smoothly from cell tower to cell tower. It came to my attention while traveling with a companion who had an identical 4S, bought 4 weeks after I bought mine in December. Email delivery to the iphone also is effected. When I found I was not getting my emails, or even my phone calls I went back to the sprint store I bought it from for help. The Sprint staffer there performed a Network Reset which cured the problem for the time being.

I have a new iPhone 4S that has developed the habit of shutting off randomly by itself. When I pick it up after it has been on standby for a while, the buttons are not responsive, then after a few more tries I get the apple logo, which I presume means the phone is resetting itself. It concerns me, since my family and I keep in touch via texting during the day, so if the phone has shut off, they can't reach me and I don't know that they are trying to.
I took it to the genius bar today, and they suggested I do a restore. My concern is that some of the games I have accumulated a lot of points in will be set back to zero. I have tried the regular reset procedure by holding down the button and swiping the 'shut off' option

Why is my iPhone 4s not recognizing wi-fi? I have completed the Netrork Reset several times and have even done a restore from iTunes (after doing an entire Reset). It seemed to fix the problem for an hour or so but now the Wi-Fi button will not turn on again. Also, my phone is slower than ever before.Â
I would hope Apple doesn't configure the phones to quit BEFORE most people can upgrede or IMMEDIATELY AFTER the warranty runs out. Â

I have recently purchased an iPhone 4s and a lifeproof case. I'm trying to attempt a mounting idea for in my truck. I've decided to glue a piece of metal onto the back of my phone, and attach a speaker magnet behind my dash. It holds rather well, but I've read much about people saying the magnet can damage the screen. If it's behind my dash, opposite of the front, does it still do any damage?

Used my iphone in the gym listening to music, drove home and the phone was off. Tried to turn it on and got no response, plugged it into the mains charger and the phone just loops restarts on the apple logo screen, tried to restart the phone and it comes up to connect it to itunes... soon as i unplug it the phone goes off, ive tried a restore on the computer but i get an error message, i am 2 months away from the end of my contract and i am no longer covered by warranty or insurance...
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1) was not quite two weeks old, and had experienced none of the overheating problems that are reported sporadically in various fora. Then, last night, I shot a 21-minute video. By the end the phone was fairly hot, though it did not shut down or display the green-triangle "overheated" image. I stopped the video and noticed that the left-hand quarter of the touchscreen no longer worked: for example, nothing happened when any icons in the left-hand column of any screen were touched. Display was unaffected, but nothing (cooling down, cycling power, resetting the phone, etc) restored the touchscreen function.
I took the phone to an Apple store today and they gave me a new one, saying this is a problem that they hadn't seen (which they always say, of course). But I'm still curious because my first stop was the Verizon store across the street, where I bought the phone in the first place. The Verizon folks told me that (1) they would not replace the phone, because (2) it sounded to them that I might have voided my warranty, on account of shooting a continuous 21-minute video, as (3) this overheating during video recording and trashing the screen was a known issue in iPhone 4Ss, which I should have known about, and at any rate (they stated emphatically), iPhones were not designed for long video shoots. Not only had I not heard any of this, I had heard the contrary many times, so I'm still wondering whether they were just trying to BS me or whether there really have been similar reports that just hadn't got publicized yet.

The other day I dropped my phone in the ocean, but was able to put it into a bag of rice and let it sit for 24 hours afterwards. It works fine now except for it won't charge. Yesterday I let it die and then plugged it in overnight. The next afternoon when I turned it on it was fully charged. I was hoping that that was the trick, but the next time I tried it wouldn't work. It isn't recognizing being plugged into a wall or my computer. It's a Japanese iPhone if that makes any difference... I've tried cleaning out the USB port on the phone, but that hasn't made any difference.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedLong time listener, first time caller. If anyone can help, y'all can.Small amount of water entered top of iPhone. Phone kept working, he plugged it in and charged it (car charger) - a few hours later went to take a photo and phone quit working. (After searching, I realize we should not have plugged it in.)
I had him put it in a bag of rice, and kept fingers crossed. No luck yet, but it's only been a day. I suggested leaving it sit and not trying to keep turning it on. I realize it may never come back, but the bigger problem is the texts and phone call history, which really we need to recover. I see from searching that it's not stored on the SIM card. The phone has not been synced or backed up w/iTunes recently. I'd love to have the phone back, but if it stays dead is there any way to recover that text/call data?
I have a new iPhone 4 and a cup of water fell on it today. The water damage indicators did not turn red but they both now have a gray spot on them both. Is this an indicator of water damage for apple?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an old iPhone 3g that I have been letting my kid use as a touch since upgrading to the 4s. He dropped it in the toilet. I put it in rice and let it dry for a week. I was able to restore it using iTunes. It now will charge and iTunes does recognize that the iPhone is plugged in when I try to sync. However, it gives me an error message saying that something is either wrong with the phone or it is inactive, so it won't sync. I don't want to activate it, he just uses it for games and music. I have been using an old sim card to try to connect.

About 5 weeks ago, I got my iPhone 4s wet. It was not completely submerged in water and had a phone cover on it at the time.I put it in a bag of rice for about 3 weeks and it is now fully functional. The buttons, sound, camera, touch screen, etc... it works the way it did before. The only way the phone will turn on is if I connect it to the charger, but it will only stay on for a few mins before a red line appears across the screen and fades out then will power itself up again. If i leave it connected to the charger it will keep doing this over and over again.

today listening to my iPhone at the beach, a huge wave clobbered me. I grabbed it from the water as quickly as I could find it and dried it off asap. I tried to turn it off to keep it from shorting out, but it won't. I have it in a ziploc baggy with 2 pouches of industrial size bags of silica, but every time I try to turn it off it looks like it is powering down and then restarts itself.

i recently had water damage to my iphone 4 but it wasnt completely submerged. I put it in a bag of uncooked rice for a while then plugged it in. My itunes recognized there was an iphone there and said it was in repair mode. strangely though, the iphone was not named and there was no seriel number like theyre usually is. in the middle of repairing my iphone back to factory mode, it seems that itunes couldnt recognzie my iphone anymore. it did get past extracting the software though.
i put it back in some rice, and now when i plug it in the apple icon keeps going on and off, like the phone is trying to start but cant. also, at one point it was telling me to plug my iphone into the usb even though it already was.

After a long teleconference call, my iphone was blistering hot from extended use.
Hot enough in fact, to damage the backing to the display. Looking at it it's clearly behind any image on the screen; guess I'm gonna visit a genius. I'm not sure what chip or component is under that spot. I'd be curious if anyone could ascertain what it may be.
Here's two horrible images (sorry, only had my wife's 3g to take the pic) trying to show the burn spot. One is on a white field, the second is where I move the image to show it's the display itself and not some image being drawn.
About 4 days ago I got some juice from a pint of blackberries onto my iPhone 3G. It worked alright after I cleaned it up, the next day it started giving me non-stop "this accessory is not made for iPhone" messages and now it has finally refused to charge when connected to a dock, usb or speaker. I've cleaned it with alcohol, poked around with a toothpick, etc to no avail. Any other suggestions (aside from replacing it or chucking it out the damn window)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I was in Canada, I dropped my iPhone 3GS in a water drain, and it essentially got drenched. After submerging it in rice for seven hours and letting it sit for three weeks, it works absolutely fine - albeit one small problem.
The backlight is completely non-functional. It won't react to anything at all, I've restored, everything.
Now, all that's left is asking you guys for help. HELP! How can I get my backlight to work again? Is it fixable?
I place my iphone 4s on the table, so does it bring any harms or any damages towards my iphone 4s glass screen (I provide my iphone 4s with a back case and place my iphone 4s nicely in a pocket cover) when I got up from a chair and accidentally hit the table??
