I've been trying to tether my Sony Erricson Xperia Neo to a laptop pc. Android OS.I first tried USB tethering but my laptop had no internet access, so I instead tried setting up a portable wifi hotspot to see if that would work. My laptop recognised the network I had created and I joined it succesfully, but I had no internet access. (Note: When I used USB tethering another network was recognised by the laptop)
I checked my phone and the 3g icon which shows that mobile internet is enabled (the two little verticle arrows with 3g above them) were not visible, but when I disabled the wi-fi hotspot, the icon appeared again. I'm not sure whether this is normal but could it be that 3g is being disabled with the activation of hotspotting, or is it just hidden automatically when wi-fi hotspotting is disabled? I find sometimes that the 3g icon disapears for no reason in areas I previously have had good signal, and then when I try and connect it takes a few seconds and then the icon appears again and I can connect.

I keep getting the following message:"The network you are connected to appears to be a hotspot. You may be required to consent to legal terms and/or set up an account to get internet access. Hotspot operators may charge service fees for internet access". However, its a free network that my other devices, such as my playbook connect to without problems. When I click "OK" I get another message that says: "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." I click OK, and it takes my to the BB browser, which of course doesn't work. Its like it wants me to give permission to use the network, but I need to use the network to give the approval.
-WiFi is enabled
-Bluetooth is enabled
-Other devices including Playbook currently work on the network
-Repeatedly gives me the first message above, followed by the second message above

I have an iPhone 4S, running iOS 5.1.1. (Though this issue has existed since 4.3) I enable Personal Hotspot on the iPhone. Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on.
My iPad 2 (running iOS 5.1.1) sees the iPhone in the list of available Bluetooth devices, connects to the iPhone, and voila! The iPad is tethering my iPhone's internet connection. When the two disconnect from one another (like when I leave the house). I simply pick up the iPad when I return, go to Settings>General>Bluetooth and tap my iPhone in the list of available devices, and (as long as my iPhone is within range) the iPad connects, and I'm online again. Painless! The problem arises when I try to connect my iPod touch or spare iPhone 4 to the Personal Hotspot of my iPhone 4S via bluetooth. I enable Personal Hotspot on the iPhone 4S. Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on.
I pick up my iPod touch. Bluetooth is enabled, but the iPhone 4S does not appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices. I pick up my spare iPhone 4. Bluetooth is enabled, but the iPhone 4S does not appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices. The problem is, if I want this iPod touch or spare iPhone (acting as an oversized iPod touch) to access my Personal Hotspot, I have to unlock my iPhone 4S, go to Settings>Personal Hotspot and wait for the iDevices to connect; something I don't have to do with my iPad. Additionally, Personal Hotspot connections made over Wifi use far more power on both devices than Bluetooth.
The weird thing is, there was a week or two (before updating to iOS 5.0) that my iPod touch was able to see my iPhone 4, connect to it via Bluetooth, and tether off the Personal Hotspot painlessly without me ever having to unlock the iPhone, and open Settings. To be thorough, I tried using my iPhone 4 (and even an old iPhone 3GS running 4.3) as the 'host' devices for my Personal Hotspot, and every time the iPad had no issues connecting, but all the other iPhones saw no available Bluetooth devices.

I have a iPhone 4 WITH the Personal Hotspot package thru Verizon Wireless. When I try to connect my laptop to the Hotspot, it says its connected with excellent signal, and then say it has limited or no connectivity. If you try to open up Internet Explorer it just says that it cant connect to the internet. When i go to details, it has an IP address, but no gateway or DNS addresses. My laptop is Panasonic Toughbook 29 running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3.

recently installed GoLauncher Ex on my OneV and created a mobile hotspot. The connection appears in my wireless connections and it appears to have full bars, and it appears to connect me when I select it, but when I try to open a web page I get "server not found" message, and then when I look back at the connection it says "connected with limited access". I am in a city with so called full red 3G coverage too. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is it the phones inability to transmit a wireless signal? I tried all the different types of security options in the program and still nothing. Am I simply out of luck with using this phone as a hot spot and am I going to have to upgrade to the evo v 4g to do it? By the way I am using windows Vista if that matters.

I searched around and found a few forums dealing with similar issues and the previous models of the Razr, but couldn't find any solutions. I purchased a Razr M yesterday and cannot get the hotspot to function. I can connect the computer to the hotspot and I can see that connection on both the phone and the laptop, but I have no internet connection. I previously had an HTC Incredible and it worked with no issues. I have tried disabling the security, re-naming the connection, changing the channel in the hotspot settings and even changing the client start address. this is really frustrating to me because it is the primary use of this phone. (or at least it's supposed to be) has there been any solution to this issue in the previous models I missed? is anyone else having this problem?

I saw there's a post describing how to enable internet sharing for 1020 but one of the requirement is a foreign SIM card which I don't have.
My 1020 is a Hong Kong version got from eBay and it didn't come with a SIM. I called T-Mobile but they said since it's not from their store, it may not work, they tried to do something on their end but couldn't make it work.

Want to access internet on my gaming PC. Have iPhone 4s. I do not have access to internet from another source.
Do I need iTunes on the PC to allow the iPhone 4s to connect PC to internet (drivers installed from iTunes)?
If so, how do I download iTunes to the PC? Is there a CD available? Can I copy setup from my iMac or PC laptop?

Next couple of months I'll be staying in a house with no Internet access, yep it does exist. But I'll be in a built up area so should be 3G, anyway so plan to teether that. I've been looking at the options and a tenner a month seems alright. But you only get 3GB for that. But just a bit of internet surfing, IM, etc would that probably be ok? I know its easy to underestimate what you use. But not sure I'll have that much time to use it at any rate as at work I'll obviously use their internet, it's only when I'm at the flat! Also anyone used the o2 service, any good? Easy to set up?

Here is the setup, iPhone 4S, apple tv 2, on a gig LAN at home. DIR655 is the router. No Internet access at home though. I want fit be able to stream say crackle from my phone to the apple tv. As of now it's not working, since there is no internet access at home as soon as I join the network I'm cut off from any online access. No emails, browsing, or streaming videos. Now, I know that it's possible because it did it about two weeks ago, I was able to join the network at home and still browse and stream videos from the phone. And it does it briefly during a reboot of the router. It won't give the wifi bars on the header but it will give me an AirPlay icon and recognize the apple tv2.
Solutions which have been suggested and failed:
- Disabled the dns relay within the router settings.
- Changed the DNS servers to 4.2.2.2/3.

My iPhone 4s is no longer accessing the internet, despite the fact that it is successfully connecting to my home wifi network. It was working up until late last week and seeing the new patch/update (which I downloaded and applied) thought it would fix it, unfortunately it didn't.
I have done a quick search through the regualr channels and googled to problem, and I didn't change anything to do with my network before it stopped working and obviously my computer and interent are still operational.

So got the Tmobile 810. Have been using unlocked Nokia phones (Symbian) till now and use JoikuSpot to share internet on as needed basis. Not very often, but good to know it is there when needed.
Now when select Internet Sharing to ON, asks if want to activate that feature in my plan. Is there anyway to bypass this or to get another app to do this .. like JoikuSpot ?
