View 5 RepliesI have an iphone 4s. Suddenly I was no longer able to receive imessages and the messages I sent to other iphon users were sending as text messages instead of imessages. I did a network reset which didnt work. Then i went into settings and toggled the imessage button. After doing that it now allows me to send imessages as an sms but says i can only be reached for messgaes at my email address and won't allow me to choose my phone number to get messgae. So now I can send imessages but they apepar to come from email account not my phone number.

This issue started with the last iOS update and has affected not only my phone, but my wife's and father in law's as well (we all have the exact same model) When I attempt to send a text message to my wife, my phone suddenly won't send imessages anymore. Only text. I have tried rebooting my phone, and my wife's phone. We have even tried wiping our phones and restoring them from backups. The problem still persists, wether we are at home connected to wifi or out of the house on 3G. The only way I have managed to send my wife an imessage was by creating a new contact with ONLY her e-mail address. That only worked once. since then, its trying to send everything as SMS again.
This is unacceptable as we live in an area with very poor celular coverage and rely heavily on wifi connections, therefore we won't receive an SMS until our phones get access to the celular network. All other apps and phone functions are working correctly across all 3 phones mentioned. On both my phone, and my wife's, I have double checked to ensure that iMessage is still turned on. I suspect that this is a global software issue seeing as it only started once we updated our phones to the latest iOS. My question is this:
Prior to the update, we were all able to send iMessages to eachother, regardless of where we were. The only time we'd have an issue is if someone's phone was turned off or not connected to either the celular 3G network or a wifi with internet access (which is natural).

After transferring a number from a previous carrier to a new carrier, I can no longer receive iMessages from my telephone number. People can only iMessage me if they know my Apple ID. I've tried restoring the phone, but I'm always faced with 'error' in the iMessage settings window.

So this question is actually about my friends iPhone 4... She and I text on a daily basis and we use iMessages. As of two days ago, every time I sent her an iMessage, it would fail and I would have to send it as a text message. Well we finally figured out it was because her iMessages were turned off (probably by her 2 year old daughter.) So she turned them back on and she sent me an imessage. But when she sent the imessage and I received it, I received the message from her apple id, not her phone number which is what I normally receive her messages from. Her and I can't figure out how to change it back to her phone number..

recently, I used my uncles iphone 4 to imessage my friends. my uncle recently decided to give it to me and get himself the new iphone 4s. Since its from out of country, we went to unlock the iphone 4 and got rid of the old sim card and he got a new sim card with the old phone number (same number for iphone 4). my problem is that im scared he'll be able to receive my old and new imessages. I had deleted them on his old iphone and reset the whole thing twice.the problem is that on the old iphone, I did input my own apple ID to send messages, but I realized later on that it was using the PHONE NUMBER as the CALLER ID. Sure the messages still synced into my iPod 4g and back and forth.
I heard that sometimes, two iphones that had the same sim card or phone number tend to send to each other messages as if it was one phone and that concerns me. Is it possible that when he activates his new iPhone, the old imessages would show up on his phone as syncing? I really don't want him to get his hands on my old messages. I had this problem at little while ago and it seemed to fix itself but now my iMessage has stopped working again, but only to my wifes iPhone. I'm not sure if it's related to the iOS update but i think it was working ok after that?I have a iPhone 4, she has a 3GS. They are both registered on the same apple ID I cannot send her iMessages but when she sends me texts (via iMessage) i receive them as messages but from my email address We are both in areas with 3G or wireless networks I have tried all of the suggestions that I have found on here and nothing is working on my phone!

I'm using a fully updated 5s and getting a delivery failure message whenever I send pics via iMessage. The strange thing is that the people I'm messaging are receiving the messgaes and pics despite the error message on my side. I've talked with some other iPhone users and they are currently having the same issue but I don't see anything online about the problem. I guess it's not a big deal since the messages are being sent.Â

Frequently, my texts and imessages won't send, the little sending bar stops a little before the end. So I close my messaging app and reopen it to find all the spaces where my text conversations are now replaced with blank spaces. After a few seconds, the "write new message" window opens, and I am able to choose a contact to send to and type a message but the send button doesn't work.
Closing and reopening the app again makes no change. In addition, photos are also blurred, and completely freeze the screen when I tap them. So far my only temporary solution has been to do a reset by holding the home and power buttons, but it only lasts a short while (10 minutes?) before the above problem repeats itself. I am becoming very tired of restarting my phone, and even after restarting, the conflict is not always resolved. I have thought about getting a new phone, although mine is only a year and a half old, but I fear the problem will carry over onto a new phone if perhaps the issue is too many photos and messages?
