IPhone :: Would Previously Sent IMessages (old Messages) Show Up On Another If The Same Phone Number Is Used
Jul 6, 2012
recently, I used my uncles iphone 4 to imessage my friends. my uncle recently decided to give it to me and get himself the new iphone 4s. Since its from out of country, we went to unlock the iphone 4 and got rid of the old sim card and he got a new sim card with the old phone number (same number for iphone 4). my problem is that im scared he'll be able to receive my old and new imessages. I had deleted them on his old iphone and reset the whole thing twice.the problem is that on the old iphone, I did input my own apple ID to send messages, but I realized later on that it was using the PHONE NUMBER as the CALLER ID. Sure the messages still synced into my iPod 4g and back and forth.
I heard that sometimes, two iphones that had the same sim card or phone number tend to send to each other messages as if it was one phone and that concerns me. Is it possible that when he activates his new iPhone, the old imessages would show up on his phone as syncing? I really don't want him to get his hands on my old messages. I heard that sometimes, two iphones that had the same sim card or phone number tend to send to each other messages as if it was one phone and that concerns me. btw both phones have the new iOS 5.1.1
After transferring a number from a previous carrier to a new carrier, I can no longer receive iMessages from my telephone number. People can only iMessage me if they know my Apple ID. I've tried restoring the phone, but I'm always faced with 'error' in the iMessage settings window.
I'm successfully sending and receiving iMessages however recipients are saying that they are coming from my Apple ID rather then my phone number. Is there are way to coprrect this?
So this question is actually about my friends iPhone 4... She and I text on a daily basis and we use iMessages. As of two days ago, every time I sent her an iMessage, it would fail and I would have to send it as a text message. Well we finally figured out it was because her iMessages were turned off (probably by her 2 year old daughter.) So she turned them back on and she sent me an imessage. But when she sent the imessage and I received it, I received the message from her apple id, not her phone number which is what I normally receive her messages from. Her and I can't figure out how to change it back to her phone number..
This issue started with the last iOS update and has affected not only my phone, but my wife's and father in law's as well (we all have the exact same model) When I attempt to send a text message to my wife, my phone suddenly won't send imessages anymore. Only text. I have tried rebooting my phone, and my wife's phone. We have even tried wiping our phones and restoring them from backups. The problem still persists, wether we are at home connected to wifi or out of the house on 3G. The only way I have managed to send my wife an imessage was by creating a new contact with ONLY her e-mail address. That only worked once. since then, its trying to send everything as SMS again.
This is unacceptable as we live in an area with very poor celular coverage and rely heavily on wifi connections, therefore we won't receive an SMS until our phones get access to the celular network. All other apps and phone functions are working correctly across all 3 phones mentioned. On both my phone, and my wife's, I have double checked to ensure that iMessage is still turned on. I suspect that this is a global software issue seeing as it only started once we updated our phones to the latest iOS. My question is this:
Prior to the update, we were all able to send iMessages to eachother, regardless of where we were. The only time we'd have an issue is if someone's phone was turned off or not connected to either the celular 3G network or a wifi with internet access (which is natural).
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, iMessages being sent as SMS instead
My iMessage shows up as my email address and not my phone number. When I got to settings messages it has my number but you can't change it. The email address is highlighted and number is grey. how do you change it
I recently got a new number and reset my iPhone settings. I have discovered that an old contact from my previous number still shows up in my iMessage recents. I have not contacted them on my new number and I want to know why they are still showing up.
I have an iphone 4s. Suddenly I was no longer able to receive imessages and the messages I sent to other iphon users were sending as text messages instead of imessages. I did a network reset which didnt work. Then i went into settings and toggled the imessage button. After doing that it now allows me to send imessages as an sms but says i can only be reached for messgaes at my email address and won't allow me to choose my phone number to get messgae. So now I can send imessages but they apepar to come from email account not my phone number.
I was just wondering if when your on wifi and using iMessage or if your on 3G and using iMessage , will the messages show up on my phone bill ? (I'm on talus by the way)
After updating my software on my 3GS any iMessage reply I get from my husband shows as if I sent it to myself. The entire conversation is on the right in blue or comes thru as an iMessage from myself. It only happens with his 3GS and mine
A friend, with an older version of Galaxy Note, can Show only contacts with phone number on his contact list. It's seem to be impossible with my S6... Is it possible to add the trick? Or maybe I Missed something.
I recently had my phone repaired under warranty and since its been returned the newer versoin of Android has been installed and the process to save onto my SD card has changed and cant read the old messages saved form the earlier Android version.
Whenever I sent a text message, it comes through as my email address instead of my phone number. When I went to Settings > Messages, under "Receive at", is at my email address as the default and next to my phone number it says Error.I upgraded my phone, is there a reason this is happening? No one is really getting my texts.
Have an iPhone 5s and for some reason last week whenever I start a new message/ conversation, the message comes FROM my email address and not my phone number. I've gone into settings/ messages/ send & receive/ start new conversation from: and for some reason my phone number is not listed. Just various email addresses.Â
The is another "feature" of the SG-II's built-in email app that infuriates me regularly:Each time when the mail app reloads emails from the server, it deletes all previous mails from the inbox (be they read or unread). Thus, if one accidentally triggers two reload/refreshes in sequence (or has automatic mail downloads enabled) this causes the unread mails from (an) earlier refresh(es) to be silently deleted and to "disappear", before one has a chance to read them! This happened already a couple of times to me and this is really insane
After always using iPhones I'm finally making the switch over to Android. I'm most likely going to get a LG G4 to replace my iPhone 6 Plus but my main issue is I'm unsure how I can transfer my data from my iPhone to the LG ?
I'm most concerned about if I can copy my text messages and iMessages over so they will be on the new phone. Is this possible ?
Why does my 4S suddenly switch to text messages when it has been sending to the same person as imessages? I am connected to wifi and have no cell service where I am, so the text errors out. Can I force it to send as an imessage?
