If you have the phone plugged in, is there any way to set it so the screen doesn't go to sleep? Basically I have the Clock on to run the timer, and I would like it to stay up and not dose off in the middle somewhere.View 6 Replies View Related

So as well all know, AT&T uses a ridiculous set of cellular frequencies that not only produces a lower signal (compared to Verizon,) but also puts a lovey "DA DA, DA DA, DAT DAT DAT DAAAA!!!!" sound in my speakers! (GSM interference) I've tried the tricks with the little things you put on your speaker cables to catch the stray RF noise but they did not help and I am SICK of this stupid sound that gets transmitted into every set of speakers I have.
The only way to fix this is to shut off the cellular network by putting the iPhone into airplane mode. Then, I can play music from my iPod and not have the stupid interference playing as well. The only problem is, now I can't stream online music like Pandora, etc because Airplane mode shuts off my WiFi? So is there any way I can shut off the phone, but leave on the WiFi?
I put some movies on my iPhone and then removed them from the computer. Next time I synced they were erased. So I unmarked all videos to not sync thinking that would leave them on phone, but no, it erased all of them. How can I remove videos or songs from the computer and leave them on the iPhone and still sync?View 7 Replies View Related
Is it okay to leave my phone on the charger overnight frequently? I find it runs out to about >30% everynight so i just plug it in and go to sleep. Will this be bad for the battery? Is it better to do 1-2 hour charges? How long does a full charge take anyway?View 5 Replies View Related

I just got my new curve. love it! don't know what i did without it! i just put in a 2GB card. of which i don't have much on it yet. but i've just noticed that its running slow. when i leave my phone, the screen goes on standby. and when i get a call or when i just want to access the home screen, it takes awhile to process. the hourglass comes on and takes awhile to process anything. sometimes i even miss calls because of it trying to proces. any ideas on why its slow? its just a month old.
I have another question regarding the smartone-vodafone. does that give you free access to the internet? i'm confused as what its for. i don't subscribe to my t-mobile web service...i just have the email service. so would i have to subscribe to the web access and then use the vodafone as a broswer??kind of like using internet explorer?
I'm hoping there's somebody out there with personal experience regarding this question. I have the 8830WE from Alltel (CDMA). I travel a lot, specifically on cruise ships. I was told that my Blackberry should still push my emails thru when I'm out to sea but what Alltel couldn't tell me for sure is if I would be billed additionally for that. Most ships now have "Cellular At Sea" service so you can still make and receive calls at about $2.50 per minute. What I'm wondering is if my BB can't connect to it's own service if it will automatically try and use the phone service of the ship? If this is the case, is there a way of disabling the phone function but leave the data running so it only works on BB service?
Secondly, has anybody confirmed that they get their mail thru BB while traveling overseas? I realize it doesn't work in all countries but wondering about the major European countries or any place that you've maybe used it.
I'm totally clueless about how the SIM card thing is going to work. When I got the phone Friday the rep at Alltel said I had to use only their SIM from their international provider or my BB service wouldn't work. I checked and their rates are very high. I already have an international SIM card where I get free incoming calls and the outgoing rates are reasonable, most around $1 a minute. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Almost 3 hours ago I started the process of upgrading my unlocked 1.1.2 iPhone to 1.1.3 using the official soft upgrade. I wasn't expecting it to be quick (the iClarified tutorial says ~20 minutes) but I'm starting to worry.
Does it really take this long? Is there anything I can do that won't result in a bricked iPhone?
It's been at the stage of "Updating and Jailbreaking to 1.1.3" for pretty much the whole time.
I really like the service I have with TMobile on my 2G iphone. I have tzones still at $5.99 and everything works great on it. Plus I pay half of what a typical ATT iphone user does and w/o a contract. However, the new 3Gs with the speed increase and other *hardware* features are really tempting. Are you going to jump from T-Mobile to ATT for the new iphone?View 9 Replies View Related
I can't take my phone into where I work b/c its a secure facility where absolutely no electronic devices (no beepers, no phones, etc) can come in, but its getting too hot here to leave it in my car all day. Any thoughts on what to do? There's a lot on line about not leaving the phone in a hot car but not many suggestions as to what to do with it!View 6 Replies View Related

If it's not safe to leave an iPhone in the car, even turned off, what do I do? Leave it home? If I carry it around all day, I'll worry about it and if I leave it in the car (trunk). I'll worry. Options? I could leave it in an EMPTY (no ice) cooler.View 24 Replies View Related

I wanted to add a line to my plan to give a phone to my mom so we can talk on my shared minutes (she's on verizon and we talk a lot so this seemed to make sense).i have old phones that she could throw a sim card into and run, and be perfectly happy. so i used the reduced cost to buy an iphone and turn around and sell and make up some of the cost of having her added to my plan. I wanted to leave the iphone sealed, if possible, so that the buyer could get the cleanest purchase assurance. i thought i could just walk into the att store and pick up another sim card and activate that sim on the phone for my mom and no need to worry about the sim in the box with the iphone. This guy at the store would not give me one, and said that no changes can be made on that sim for 30 days, in an effort to prevent people from signing up a new line just to sell an IPHONE.It's my iphone, i don't see why i can't do whatever i want with it?.frustrating, and try as ATT might, they can't prevent people from doing whatever they want...they got their 2 year contract, and i paid for the phone..i would bet i can find an old sim i never used here and i imagine i can activate that over the phone.but does it matter if i leave that old sim in the box?is Apple and ATT gonna get the posse together and hunt me down for violating their wishes?View 10 Replies View Related

i have been stuck in a group chat since january. Some days it useful but most days its just a drain on my battery life and vibrating annoyance in my pocket. IT IS ABSOLUTELY rediculous that apple would create a collaborative message program without a way for the user to exit. they are so focused on voice regonition and other useless software when they hve major issues to address like this. I think apple should refund my messaging bill for the past 3 months or buy my next nonapple cellphone.

I left my iphone on a wet surface for a bit, back down. I don't think anything got onto the screen side, was just damp on the back. It was on, seemed to work but turned it off to be o the safe side. Should I leave it off until tomorrow or is it probably ok?View 6 Replies View Related
My wifes contract with Verizon is up and I can get out of mine for under $100. Instead of spending $200 a piece on Droid Incredibles, we're both strongly considering the joining AT&T and picking up iphones tomorrow. The phones are the same price, and although the andriod OS has some nice features, and verizions network is allegedly superior, I dont think either offers enough features to keep us. Really, we're already leaning heavily towards switching, and I'm hoping some of you can post feedback here to push us over the top.
If you've left Verizon for AT&T, or have used both the android and Iphone OSes, i'm particularly interested in your feedback. My main concern with AT&T is the dropped calls and poor data coverage that everyone complains about. Also, will the Iphone ever get flash support? with the newly instituted data caps, streaming alot of video probably isnt a good idea anyway, but i'm just curious. Finally, is there an ETA on when the Iphone will support the newest google maps? My friend has an incredible and the 3D GPS maps accompanied by turn-by-turn voice directions was awfuly impressive. I've heard the Iphone will get the app at some point, but never anything concrete.
