IPhone :: Signal Dropping Intermittently Even After Uninstalling Blacksnow
Jul 17, 2010
I purchased an iphone over kijiji locked to rogers and jailbroken to 3.1.2. During my days of owning it i found that the signal would drop randomly to 0 bars and proceed to "searching" to look for a network.. Ive looked this issue up plentiful over these forums and found that blacksnow seemed to be the culprit. After going through cydia i found that blacksnow was installed so i uninstalled it. I thought the problem was solved but a couple of minutes later after using apps that use 3g the connection dropped again. I dont know how this phone was jailbroken. its the 3gs with the old bootrom. ive never had this issue with my 3g phone. I restored again using redsnow and still same problems.

iPhone keeps going from 3G to Edge and then showing no bars. And after I turn off cellular data and put it back on to get back 3G it loses all bars completely and goes to "searching.." and then finally "no network"Â and then I have to manual search for my network. Whole problem starts happening all over after connecting again.
I have an iPhone 5 with latest OS 7.1.2

Last few days (even before 4.4.4 update) my m8 data would drop on and off. Restarted and no use. Same. Cell signal is full bars but data would drop after being on for several minutes. It would drop for 2 minutes or so. Toggling data on and off or airplane mode is a temporary fix sometimes. Over the course of this post it has dropped 2x.

My xperia x10 keeps dropping the signal very frequently. It happens mostly within 3-4 seconds of picking a call. On the notification bar, the signal goes from full to zero, it shows the no sim card symbol for a moment, and then the signal reappears. Another problem is when I call someone, the screen goes blue. I can't cut the call or see whats happening, though the call does go through. I factory reset the phone, and then restored it back again. The problem went away for a day, but has started again now.

My colleague and I both have Bold 9900's, one on Vodaphone and the other T-Mobile. Both of seem to be experiencing similar problems with the signal reception at different times and places. Whilst at home I can have a great signal of 3 or 4 bars but without moving the phone it will suddenly fluctuate and more often than not it will drop to zero and give the SOS display. I can then wait varying amounts of time for the signal to pick up again. I have the same problem in my office and in other areas so I am sure it's not the signal. My colleague has very similar problems and sometimes the signal does not recover in adequate time to make a call or send a message so we have to remove the battery before the phone signal recovers. I have also tested my wifes Blackberry Curve alongside mine and it is fine.

My brand new Galaxy S6, with the most up to date drivers, appears to randomly drop my data connection. After several restarts and updates to the OS, still seems to randomly occur. The error I receive is "No network connection. No signal found for mobile networks." My (very) old phone had a very strong signal in my area. Faulty device?

It happens like 15 times a day. Its almost as if I hang up the phone on the person. I know it isn't the network because I actually have better signal than I did with my S4 on Tmobile and I never dropped calls with that phone. This issue I think is software related I think. I did read somewhere on the forums that on verizon people said it was the VoLTE (HD calling) if so that sucks because I love HD calling.

Always maintained a very strong 3g signal, 5 bars always no matter where I was. The last 3 or 4 days my signal started dropping like crazy to EDGE - edge - to gps or whatever to no signal. Did everything to try and fix it. Called T-Mobile about the problem and they said no problem we are sending you a new 9700. I will have it Wednesday afternoon. I asked if it will be a new one or refurbished, she said a new one. You can't beat that with a stick. They have the best customer service out of all the carriers. Just wanted to tell my recent experience with my carrier.

My wife and I have two photons since Septermber 1st. They have been working fine until a week ago. Since then mywife's photon is dropping calls signal in our house. Both phones have full bars when not maling a call. When you dial anumber my wifes phone looses all bars and cannot make a call. My phone still has one bar or so it works. The data connectionworks perfectly (texting etc.). Wife's phone also works at other locations. So, I presume something has happened to the signalat the house but why does my phone work better? Is data and phone signals differ like this? We have been using Sprint phones

My nexus 5 GPS used to work GREAT under kitkat. However, after the Lollipop OTA update the gps signal keeps dropping and I am not able to use any navigation system.
I did try the factory reset but it didnt work.
A friend of mine is also facing the exact same problem, we both have the 32GB model.
My girlfriend, however, has not faced any issue after the ota update (she has the 16GB model). Her GPS works great! Our basebands versions are exactly the same.
I really need the gps. I use it almost daily!

Yesterday my cell service dropped has it has been doing every once in a while lately except that this time around I had to reboot the my iphone unlocked 3gs (3.1.3) for it to come back. Today it did it again, I rebooted, the service never came back and my wifi went away.
I used to have the wifi problem before so I uninstalled blacksn0w and it came back. How ever, even after several attempts at reinstalling blacksn0w and several reboots in between, my cell service is gone for good.
Any advice? This has never happened to me before, I am ready to unjailbreak and start all over again, but I would rather not.
Also, every time I install blacksn0w now the phone says " Searching..." and my wifi stops working. It is also worth noting that I have not installed anything new at all on my phone lately.
Anyone have any wisdom for me?

i unlocked a 3.1.2 iphone 3G using blacksn0w but theres no camera button on the sms screen so i can send an MMS. i went to settings>messages but theres not even an option to turn on MMS messaging. ive searched through a number of threads but all seem to say something different about what to do. there appears to be a general consensus about downloading a package from cydia but i did a search on cydia, and it turned up many different options/packages.would anyone have any advice? thanks in advance for any help

I originally unlocked the phone so i can use it overseas while I was there, the connection was fine and had full signal most of the time. Since my return, my AT&T sim card is not maintaining its network connection, it will display 3g, I would try and go surf the internet, it wouldn't connect and it will go blank (like no service mode) for a few seconds and 3g comes back up. I had to reset my network a few times for the iphone to pick up internet connection. I'm on 3.1.2 with 5.11 modem and old bootrom 3GS. Anyone else is having this issue and how did you solve it? I'm deciding to reflash the phone with 3.1.2 without the unlock to see if this solves the issue, if it does then that means blacksn0w is the crippler that is crippling my AT&T network.

I installed the Five Column Springboard instead of the Five Icon Springboard. Now when I attempt to remove the Five Column Package, I get an error everytime it tries uninstall. Sub-process/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) When I restart the springboard it goes into Safe Mode. Do I have to SSH into my IPhone and remove the package? Also, my IPhone won't get out of Safe Mode.

Basically my iPhone's battery was losing 1% per minute, but while on standby it was great. So after some research i saw that if u uninstall mobile substrate and install it again this may fix battery issues. So i uninstalled it through cydia and when i rebooted my device and use blackra1n to start it up (as it is a tethered 3.1.2 jailbreak with new bootrom 3gs) geohots pic comes up for about 45 seconds and then it turns off. I have tried booting it up 10 times and it's still not starting up.

I've recently discovered a problem when trying to install Infinidock on my iPhone 3GS. In order to install Infinidock, it is a requirement to uninstall Five Icon Dock which I believe is causing the problem. I have attached a screen shot of the pop up that appears when I try the process. I'm not sure who I need to contact to look at this problem.
I have attached a 2nd image with a second pop up. I've noticed a third, but it appears and disappears so quickly that I cannot get a screen shot fast enough. Will keep trying.

I got the new facebook app with push updates, and the other update that came after (3.1.1?) and it worked well for a while. But now I don't seem to be getting facebook notifications anymore. I still get mobileMe notifications, which I believe come through the same system? Which was the whole point to save battery power?
I've tried turning them on and off in the settings place, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it on my iPhone (not iTunes). When I launched it again, it didn't ask permission to send me notifications, which if I remember it did when I first installed the update? I expected it would have asked as when I uninstalled it it said all the data would be deleted, such as the permission to send notifications?
No idea if any of that's relevant, but I'd quite like to get notifications again if anyone has some tips .Also, there's no way to get notifications from facebook without pestering friends and looking a bit sad asking for comments is there?

I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.
Anybody else having this problem?

My iPhone 4 developed a problem where it shuts itself off intermittently, sometimes at night when it is unattended (and yes, the battery was fully charged). It is my 2nd iPhone 4 with this problem, and from what I see on this forum, not an uncommon problem with this device. Apparently it is a known hardware issue with some iPhone's and the refurbished units they use as replacement devices have not been expunged of this circuit board demon.
Rather than swap out my phone for a new one (or even another refurb), I was given the possible explanations:An application is crashing the OS. (I interpret this statement as IOS 5 is no further evolved than Windows 3.1 where an app can crash the entire OS)An application may be using too much memory causing the phone to shut down (Really? No OS protection or throttling to prevent this?)A 3rd party application might have had a bad update in the App Store and Apple does not review updates (Really? So if I publish an app in the store, I can then update it with miscellaneous viruses and malware? Whoo Hoo)It could be usage (Translation: using an iPhone 4 to play music, run apps and make phone calls may cause the device to fail. Sounds like a breach of Warranty for Fitness of Intended Purpose) I am not an Apple hater. I just want my phone replaced with a non-defective device. I don't appreciate the total run-around and denial of responsibility on Apple's part.

The screen on my brand new iPhone 5S 32GB keeps blacking out intermittently. This sometimes happens I turn the phone from portrait to landscape, or sometimes when the keyboard is open and I try to type the letter ‘a’. Each blackout lasts less than a second and everything else appears to function normally, but it is impossible to use the keyboard in landscape mode sometimes as certain key presses black the screen out.Â

iPhone 3GS intermittently drops 3G and displays SOS Only. A reset fixes it for a short while before it fails again. I have been having this problem for a while, and have tried many resets and restore, clearing the phone, using the phone as a 'new' iphone with no apps or user data, and it always fails the same way. Other phones in the area on the same carrier display full signal strength when this happens. Following a reset, the phone always works correctly for a period (of between 1 minute and 1 day), then fails again. I suspect I have a hardware fault.
