I just restored a new iPhone from a backup of my old phone on iTunes. However, I don't find any of my personal data now on the phone. All my apps are installed, sure, but none of the following is:
photos
contacts
personal data associated with the apps
phone settings
email account details
Which, to me, entirely misses the point of a backup and makes it virtually worthless. Is this what an iPHone "backup" actually is, or did the restore not happen correct?
i have an iPhone 4s that refuses to restore. when i try through settings, it restores halfway and then reboots. i used the 'find my iphone' erase/restore and now it just keeps rebooting and restoring. it doesn't give me enough time to get to the settings section.
I tried to update my iPhone 6 to the newest version today. I got a message that the update failed. I now only see a picture of the data cable and the red iTunes picture. All updates and restores fail.
- Iphone 4 frozen every time I try to fix - This has happened whilst updating to IOS 7.
I am in continuous loop resulting in the apple on screen with 1/4 full progress bar following phone going through the full restore process, and trying to backup from iTunes. I have used both Recovery and DUF mode a number of times. I have also recovered all my files using both Wondershare and Tenorshare. Over the past 16 hours I have probably hard reset 100+ times. RecBoot 'exit recovery' has failed the 3 times I have tried, and TinyUmbrella gives a 'product configuration is missing' error message when I try to run it.
Should I try 'new phone setup' rather than restore from iTunes files?
I switched iphones today with a friend of mine. I made sure that I had backed up everything to my computer AND iCloud before doing the trade. Did it, everything set up fine. Restored through iTunes and then turned on. I still had my email, texts, call logs, contacts and notes. But all my apps and songs are gone. How do i get them back?
I inadvertently backed up my iPod Touch 3G which ended up being a blessing because it actually died due to water damage. When I get my new iP4 I want to restore from that iPod Touch backup because it has many apps I use for studying including the settings which I definitely need. Is there a way to restore just the apps? How would/could I restore at least the one app with data that I really need?
I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.
I have a 3G phone that was Jailbrken, I got the White Apple of Death and restored... was also forced to upgraded to 3.1.3, so I lost my JB!However, after the restore I still have to 2 jailbroken apps remaining. 1. Make it Mine and Fake Carrier.Does anyone know how to remove these to JB apps!
I believe I need to perform a reset to the factory default and know I need to backup my iphone first. When restore the backup I would like to leave off the apps. Can you restore bit by bit and not automatically restore the apps ?
My iPhone was acting up so I backed it up and took it to the Apple Store. They promptly replaced it and told me not to restore it from the backup in iTunes. While I was certain I'd heard Apple/Mac's didn't get viruses, the Genius told me that whatever problem the iPhone had, may be embedded into the Contacts and restoring them may transfer the problem to my new phone. Sounds like a virus to me.
He said there's a way to retrieve the contacts from the PC without going through Itunes & if I do it this way, my virus program will filter out any "embedded problem." No, I did not backup my contacts to Outlook. I never needed them and just assumed they were being put there. HELP!! I no longer use a paper phone book--I had over 10 years of contacts in my iPhone and are somewhere on my PC. How can I get them on my new iPhone?
2nd question. How do I get all of my apps back, again, without restoring from prior backup? I tried to right click on my iPhone in iTunes and click restore purchases, but a funny thing happened...it transferred only one over??? I have at least 25 or 30.
I had an iPhone 3g in the summer, and I downloaded quite a few apps. I got an iphone as a secondary phone, and I would love to have those apps back without paying. I have a new iphone 3g, and unfortunately my last computer broke so I am running a new netbook. I have no backup of my apps!! Is there any way I can restore these old apps as they are already paid for?I was thinking by just logging in to itunes on my apple account it would work, but no apps are listed
My iphone keeps dying and I have to restore my iphone repeatedly. I just restored as a new devise last week. Today I tried uninstalling and installing an app that refused to open and all my apps disappeared even the pre-installed ones like mesaages, itunes, phone and such? Is it time to get a new phone?
I had an app that I had wrote down passwords and added pictures to and when I update to 5.1.1 it put my phone in recovery mode so I had to restore it and after that I got my apps back but not the information on them like the pictures and passwords. Is there a way to get it back?
the Genius Bar restored my iPhone (battery problems from system software crashes) and has b0rked two apps that have save data from October thru today. One is a game (impossible to level, but not a fatal loss). The other is a financial app that has been tracking money for eight monthsr. I can restore my apps from a backup WITHOUT having to do a general backup restore... Can I cherry pick my apps from backup?
I have a 4S, IOS 7.1.1. I did a factory reset, after first backing it up, and now that I am trying to sync all apps from that last backup, it says it cannot sync because this computer is no longer authorized. So I authorize the computer as it prompts me too, then it says, this computer is already authorized. I try to sync again, it still says computer not authorized. It's been a continuous circle. I have done everything from de-authorizing and re-authorizing the computer, removing the SC Info folder and restarting the computer and authorizing the computer associated with all Apple IDs, basically everything I have found on this site and everything support was telling me to do.
Ive downloaded quite a few apps and games i want to restore my phone to factory settings and it says everything will be deleted So how do i backup my settings and app / app settings to my computer so i can just put them back again?
I have restored my phone settings and now trying to restore apps & music from Itunes on my computer but is asking for my backup password. I tried my password that I have always used when getting new apps, etc. but that didn't work. I'm loss as to what to do.. I can't even use my phone at this moment because there is nothing on it..
My problem started when I tried to make my N8 a bootable pendrive. I needed to make my E: (phone memory) NTFS. I copied everything, formated E: into NTFS and copied all my stuff back again. Thing is that N8 doesn't support NTFS. My apps that were placed on E: stoped working. So I quitted my bootable pendrive idea. I formated E: again using N8 itself, copied stuff back again. I even restored last working phone backup. Aaand my apps still don't work.
After using the on-device Backup, I want to restore just CERTAIN apps. Â Will the restore function give me the ability to choose which apps I want to restore or will it restore EVERYTHING i backed up if I click on restore?
I have a problem with restoring my apps when I switch to another ROM, I can't so it, I tested on Cr-Droid, Euphoria OS and another and it can't restore my apps, I used Titanium, Go Backup, Backup+ and not worked.
If I do a full format of my N97 where will I find all the setup/installation files of the programs I have already installed to save them in order to re-install after format or will I have to download them all again?
I used BBSAK to backup my 3rd party apps, tried to load an OS that didnt take, and had no choice but to wipe my phone and start over. So I get my OS right, and try to restore my apps. BBSAK says "Phone may reboot after back up is complete" then "restoring apps completed". Fail. Problem is, it didnt actually DO ANYTHING! So i try again, nothing still. Dammit.
So instead of asking how with another thread, I searched a bunch of threads and here is what I came up with to get 3rd party apps back on the phone.
Open up your Blackberry Desktop Manager, go to the Application Loader, "browse" to find the "Backup" file BBSAK created. In there is a file called "backup.alx". Open it and load your 3rd party apps back to your phone.
