IPhone :: Recommendation For A New Feature - Alert When An Important Email Arrives?
Jun 25, 2012
Why can't I set my iPhone to give me an alert when an important email arrives? This new feature would alert me when I get an email from a predetermined sender or subject line. AOL offers this feature. Why can't my iPhone do it too? The phone would need to read the sender address and subject line of each email, and then bounce it against a list of pre-configured alerts that the user programs. This would also cut down on data consumption, since users would not have to check and recheck their mail when waiting for somethign important. With an alert, you just set it and forget it.
My ringer won't ring and there is no sound when I receive text messages but if I go into settings to check it all is normal and ringtone will play! I have missed several important calls!!
How do I set up my 4S phone to chime when a new email arrives? Right now, the chime only sounds after I tap the mail icon. I need an alert to check my mail. Comcast mail. Settings for mail set at "fetch new data".
i went to account settings for my hotmail account, under "email notifications" i have the green check mark for it to notify me when an email arrives, however, every 5 mins it sends me a message saying there's a new email when there really isnt one.i have the "check email frequency" for every 5 mins so should i change that?
This is only the second time this has happened since I got the phone a few weeks back.I have all of my messages set to different specific ringtones. My SMS to one, my MMS to one, my email to one etc. So tonight I rcvd an email and instead of playing the tone it always plays that it is set for (one of the generic preloaded notifier tones)... it played my SMS tone (which is an actual song tone) to alert me to my email.
And NO I didnt recieve a new SMS at the same time. That folder is empty and the only red star alert was on my email envelope. Like I said this is very, very few and far between but why would this happen??I went over every one of my sound/alert settings and they are all the way they should be set for my liking.
Up until the day before yesterday (with no iOS updates in the interim), I was able to use my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.1) as a mobile security key with my PayPal account - when I want to log in to my Paypal account or make a payment, a confirmation code is sent by SMS to my phone. This has all been working nicely and adds a layer of security to the use of my Paypal account. Until this morning when I went to make a payment and the SMS arrived but was totally scrambled. Instead of the usual "Your 6-digit code is....." message, it's all wacky characters like upside-down triangles, and characters from other languages like Greek and Russian. Tried turning phone off and on again and re-adding to Paypal account but problem persists. Googling indicates that this may be a problem with iPhone interpreting SMS rather than Paypal sending rubbish, however I can't find anything more recent than 2009 on this problem.
Has anyone else experienced a lag from the time you receive the email to the time you hear a notification? I have my phone set to Push and Fetch for manual check to help conserve battery, and when I check, I will see the email come in, but no notification sound/vibrate. Even on fetch it does it. And from appx. 5 mins and on I will finally hear the notification ding or vibrate. I called apple care- they walked me through resetting all network settings.. that did not work, I also restore my phone.. and that did not work..
In my iPhone, I can't know if is arrived a mail in my account. Only when I try to enter in the mail-app I can see if I have some mails. I wants to see the number in the app when a mail is arrived.
I am getting my sound alerts for incoming email from my Gmail account. Yet, when I go to read it, it's not there. I've checked other folders. I've done a hard reboot.
I used to have Alert Matrix for my BB and it allowed me to assign specific alerts to email contacts that I had. I could turn it on and off so if I was waiting for an important email it would alert me but things like spam or unimportant mail were silent. It was almost like my phone was a pager because the alert would continue to sound until I acknowledged it. Is this possible on an iphone?
Why is it so important to have the new iphone on the 24th. I am amazed at how pissed off people are when they find out it may be the 25th. Am I missing something here?I really like my iphone, and I will be getting a new one, but I don't get the stress and pressure people put on themselves to get one the first day.
Just wondering what the general opinion is here on how important having an iPhone is. Would you guys switch carriers left and right to follow a release of a new iPhone, or would you stay put with AT&T and get something else?
Which phone shall I upgrade to as my contract in finishing in a few months. There is nothing I particularly like so I think I would start looking round early. Preferably a 8MP camera would be nice and a big screen, something with a good operating system and good battery life. I have chosen these phones which one is best for me.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Sony Ericsson Vivaz HTC Desire Sony Ericsson Satio Nokia X6 16GB
I used it for lot of calls and internet and a lot of texting too a bit of everything really including music and pictures.
Bought a cheap one off Ebay and the rubbery coating is peeling off the underlying plastic after a week. Plus it doesn't adequately cover the top and bottom of the phone. Anyone have one they really like and that provides good protection without adding bulk or making hitting the side buttons difficult?
I know with older devices it was really important to give it a full load before using it. However I've heard that we use different batteries now which don't need it. Is there a general consensus on whats the best move?
I am receiving important emails on my Iphone 3gs that never show up on my computer. I need them on my computer. Is there a way I can be assured they will be received on my computer? Also, AT&T added a folder on my Iphone in the mailboxes called "synched messages". There was a problem that caused them to do this and stated we could delete the folder after we dealt with the emails they put in that folder. I do not find an option anywhere allowing me to delete the synched message folder.
Info: Dell, Windows XP, Home Edition, 2002, Service Pack 3
I am trying to delete all my emails from my phone (300+). I really do NOT want to have to select or swipe them all. Is there a select all feature so I can delete all at once? On my old phone, I could select one, then menu, then select all, however, there isn't this feature on the menu of the Galaxy S6. I have tried everything and searched everywhere! Perhaps it doesn't exist (really?!!).
