Iam using the Apple 3GS .There a Apple software update iOS 5.1. The software update is over-the-air (OTA) I have lost all the contacts. How can i recover my lost contacts?
Do any of the folks have the same problem with the software update.
After receiving a replacement Tour, I performed the device switch wizard, and all came through fine except...I no longer have the notepad icon, looked everywhere..."show all", options - > Applications -> All and I can't find it.I also can't find a setting for my phone, or desktop software that will allow me to accept meeting requests.
I had used the hack to jail break my iPhone 4. At the time my OS was 4.0. Last night I updated my OS to 4.0.1 and lost cydia. And I have tried to go to the website and reinstall it but it won't work and automatically brings me back to my home screen. Is there any way to get cydia back on my iPhone or have I completely messed it up.
just updated my 3gs to the newest software, but have lost my favorite ringtone, its still on my mac in itunes, but gone from the phone......... re sync done and its still not there ?
I backed up to itunes before update, but last known update showing in itunes is 2010?I had just updated itunes to latest software, if this would make any difference! After the restore has completed, if i open phone app and go onto favourites, the names show for a second and then it goes back to showing numbers only.
Contact list only shows a blank( well.... lined) sheet, as opposed to the alphbetical list on the R/H side. I didn't have icloud, so not backed up to there!!
Also, there is not a "contact groups" icon in the top right of contacts, as suggested on other answers for this problem.
After upgrading to iOS 5.1 one of my iPhone's completely lost his sound. The sound comes back once in a while for a few minutes. I tried everything (hard reset, restore, factory reset, all settings reset etc). On this forum i found a lot users with the same problem after upgrading to iOS 5.1. Unfortunately, there is no solution. The only one "solution" is replacement with a new iPhone - warranty. Unfortunately, my iPhone which I bought over a year ago through T-Mobile had already stopped working (after 11 months ) and I got a new one. Unfortunately, the guarantee of a new (Refurbishment) iPhone was valid only 3 months.
Since I upgraded to iOS 5.1 my iPhone (without sound) is a brick and lies at the desk. Every few days I search the Internet to solve the problem. In my opinion is software problem. I can't understand why Apple don't release a patch for so long.
I have the 4s and updated and now have lost all my photos, how can I get these back as I've never had this issue before ,i had photos going back as far as the 3g model on there and each time I've swapped phones they have always come across.
I just update mine & my wife's iphone4 from ios 4.1 to ios 5.1.1. Initially my iphone lost all the contact. After I try "Restore from backup" in itunes & luckily I got back everything including contacts. But no luck for my wife's iphone. She still lost all the contacts even after "Restore from backup". I try restore for several times but still have same problem.Isn't it the backup will keep the contacts?
I used to have an iPhone 3GS and upgraded to an iPhone 4S a few months ago. I haven't synced my iPhone in months, and when I connected to the iTunes today, it prompted to upgrade to a newer iOS version. Upon completion of the upgrade/sync, it prompted to name the new iPhone as the old iPhone name. Without thinking twice, I cliced okay. Then I noticed all the photos, videos, new contacts, text messages, calendar, etc. were all gone! The last backup on my old iPhone was October 2011, apparently, I lost all data from October 2011 to now!
Is there any way I can recover the photos, videos, contacts, calendar, etc. on the new iPhone after it's been synced with the last sync dated October 2011?
I just updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 5.1. I went to play my movies on my iphone and I lost the description tags in my Chapter menu. I used to have a meaningful description tag. When I play the video on my iTunes the description tags are there. I tried removing the videos from my phone and then re-syncing them, but no success. Is this a glitch in the new iOS update?
I have an iPhone 3 (iOS 5.1) and iTunes (10.6.1), both of which I updated last night. Now, all of my music and apps are gone on my iPhone. I've tried syncing, and it did not work. How can I get my music and apps back? All of my messages, contacts, pictures, bookmarks, etc. are still on the phone - just the apps, music, and videos are missing.

Having recently updated to ios 5.1.1 I have lost all my contacts on my iphone 4. Does anyone know how I get all my contacts back on my phone? Why did they make such a stupid update that would do this?! All of these numbers were really important.
I lost my non iTunes music on my iphone when I updated it but when I ask Siri to play song from the lost library she can. How can I get the music to show up In My song library again ?
After changing to the new iPhone software and iTunes, while resyncing, computer shut down. Now the photos, my personal settings, and all pictures are gone. Any way to find/resync back to normal?
When I updated my phone to iOS 5, I received a message saying my phone couldn't be restored because the backup was encrypted--I had neither requested nor set a password for this encryption. The phone now had none of my information on it, notes, texts, voicemail. I panicked, called Apple, and they helped me find a way to restore the notes from files in iTunes, which is a relief because I'm a writer and had a lot of work in there. However, the phone started asking me for a voicemail password that to my knowledge, I had never set. I tried a few passwords and attempted a few other methods of recovery, all to no avail. So I reset my voicemail password, as all the online literature I could find suggested. However, the "password is incorrect, please enter your password" prompt then no longer showed up. After long deliberation I set up visual voicemail over again, but to my dismay I no longer have any saved messages. At this point I have lost over a year's worth of text messages and voicemails. Some of these were incredibly important to me. I would love to recover all of it if possible, but I particularly care about the saved voicemails. Some of these were from my girlfriend during a difficult time in our lives and I really need them back. I also lost important texts from my girlfriend, best friend, and siblings, but the most important thing is the voicemails. Nothing I'm concerned about is more than a year old, but there are around five or six voicemails I need. No, there is no deleted folder from which I can undelete messages, I know how to do that. My phone is not yet jailbroken but I'm not against doing it if it will allow other methods of restoration to be attempted. I do some coding myself and I'm not daunted by the prospect of sifting around in my computer's files and command line, by the way. I still have all the itunes backups, although half of them are still encrypted with an unknown password.
After following the steps to sync the ringtones from the RMaker I do not get the option to chose for a custom ringtone in the settings. Is this gone after the upgrade?
How to recover data lost during software update. iPhone asked for software update. I agreed without a recent backup to iTunes or iCloud. After finishing update requested iTunes. I had to use restore in old back up and I lost my recent data. How can I retrieve them?
