Jun 18, 2012i had my last back up a month back. today i jus happend to connect my iphone 4 s to my laptop ( windows vista), to restore few applications which were deleted .
i thought i will be able to restore few of my apps. on thinking so. i connected my phone and after sync process. i right clicked on my iphone in itumes and clicked on restore . it did show me the last backup day. which was one month prior. i was still ok with that. and i proceeded it.
now i am notice that my phone is exact like it was a month back, even my wall papers changed to what it was at that time, but the latest apps which i have downloaded during this one month are there. but my camera roll pics arent
is there anyway i can retrive that back?

When I came back I plugged it into my computer and was asked if I wanted to put my iPod touch backup on the iPhone. Sep 7, 2014I mistakenly selected restore backup on my computer with my iphone 5S plugged in and little did i know it was going to delete all of my photos and contacts that I had from the past year and send me back to my last backup which was when ios 7 came out (LAST YEAR!!) I really need these photos and contacts back, so I did some research about recovering deleted files on my phone and turns out applications like these exist. I just don't know which ones to get. Most of them range from $50 to $100 so i really don't want to have to buy two of them. Some of them are called PhoneRescue, MobiSaver, Wondershare Dr. Fone...etc and i tried all of their 'free trials' and none of them worked.

May 6, 2012I backed up to itunes before update, but last known update showing in itunes is 2010?I had just updated itunes to latest software, if this would make any difference!After the restore has completed, if i open phone app and go onto favourites, the names show for a second and then it goes back to showing numbers only.
Contact list only shows a blank( well.... lined) sheet, as opposed to the alphbetical list on the R/H side. I didn't have icloud, so not backed up to there!!
Also, there is not a "contact groups" icon in the top right of contacts, as suggested on other answers for this problem.
