So when I click my contacts icon on the iphone a bunch of my contacts are missing. If I use the search function, the page to the left of the home screen, i can find contacts I've added and ones I'm looking for, but they dont show up under contacts. There're obviously on the phone somewhere, but I dont know where. O and if I add a contact via the contact icon, push the little green plus sign, and add it manually it will show up under the contacts, but if i try and save something from resent calls or maps and say add to contacts, new contact, it doesn't show up. Also if I add a contact to outlook and sink, it wont show up either. Thanks and hopefully this is pretty clear.

how to get iOS Spotlight to do this?
When I am start to make a call I start the phone app. Then activate the num block. At the number keys there is letters.I would find it natural to start typing the letters that my contacts name starts with. But it do not work that way. Even when I know that the app is looking in the cantactlist after each number i press.

I just moved from the US to the UK and purchased a new iPhone 4S. When my contacts migrated from Outlook to the iPhone they did not include the country code in the US and therefore all contacts numbers are now listed incorrectly. How can I add the country code to hundreds of contacts painlessly?

I have recently deployed a new BB Pearl 9100 to a user that is attached to a BES server w/ MS Exchange 2003. This is the users first blackberry coming from a Nokia device. They are used to viewing their contacts by typing in the first character of the contacts last name such as "S" for 'John Smith" and all contacts whose last name starts with "S" are displayed.
On the current BB 9100 I can change the sort option on the phone by going to Contacts | Options | Contact Display and Actions | Sort By: Last Name. But when the user searches the contacts and types the letter "S" for 'John Smith' on the Blackberry, the user is shown all contacts that contain the letter "S" (first name, last name, or company). I know that you can type"SMI" to narrow your query but is there a function on the device or a BES policy that can be applied to display/search for contacts in the manner that they are used to?
I've searched high and low, it seems I may be the first to report this issue:not long after I upgraded to the new firmware, I noticed that I can no longer search my contact list; I can get into contact list, but when I try to type some letters into the search box, the letters do not "stay", it comes up for a very brief moment and then deletes itself :-/
I've tried typing in other languages: same.
I've tried typing in other application: works as normal
I've tried clearing the cache using y-browser: no good
I've tried reseting the phone - both the 7370 and 7780 method: doesn't really fix it -> 7370 reset will fix it for a while, but as soon as I load my contact lists back in, it either stops working or allow for one more search and then it's gone.I'm suspecting it's related to the new firmware... and that's pretty much the only thing I haven't tried, I don't know how to roll-back the firmware
As you know Nokia confuses duplicate numbers and doesn't show any names for them, showing only the number
I have a missed called from someone and I'm sure I know the number but can't figure out who the caller was because evidently I have it with two contact entries.I dont want to search more than 400 contacts!
I have an E75 that I use for business.
Why can't you set Contacts to search by company? The settings only allow you to sort by first or last name.
I have two N8s..1st I purchased in 11 Jan 2011 and second one on 27 Dec 2011. Both have latest firmwares (025.007.C03.01) installed on them. But there is a difference in search option for contacts. The first phone (black in the pic) has normal old fashioned keypad which occupies the whole screen. And the second one (white in the pic) has qwerty keyboard which occupies half the screen. Why is so?I want qwerty in black N8 too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently moved from an N95 to a X6 16GB. I transferred all of my data including 4,200 contacts successfully. However, when I attempted to use the search function in contacts I received the "Memory Full - Close Applications" message. When looking at the memory data both the C and E drives have plenty of available memory.I have tried reformatting and both soft and hard resets but the only successful solution has been to reduce the number of contacts to around 2,000. This is a real nuisance since it means that I cannot do a simple synch with Outlook on a regular basis.Does anyone else have this problem? More importantly, does any know a solution so that I can return to normal Outlook synchs as I did on my N95?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad my 9780 for about a month, with OS 6 v6.0.0.285.At first i could just type in a name from the home screen and it searched contacts, press green call button and dial. Now it searches everything except contacts -i have to go into contacts first to call someone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find a way to change the default behavior of the Contacts app to search only for contacts that have a phone number.
My contacts are synchronized with my Google account and since Google saves all used emails as contacts (in the "Other Contacts" group), whenever I search for a contact in the phone I get a list of all the emails that also match my search. this is so annoying.
I enabled the option "Only contacts with phones" in the settings, but that seems only to affect the contacts that are displayed in the list, search is not affected by it.
I also tried changing the "Contacts to display" option to use a customized list and selecting only the desired group (My Contacts) from my Google account, but nothing was affected except for the list itself.
Any way to change that behavior without installing a third party dialer app?
Contact loads bit slow, when i type any name in contact search it is taking more than 10 seconds to list the name.i have sycned my contacts from gmail, but duplicate (multiple times) contacts are generated under Motorola Services Contact.whenever i listen radio it gets switch off automatically.

Why can't I search my contacts by company, like BB? Is this in the next update? I have 4000 corporate sync contacts and I can't always remember who I need from a particular company. Improper handling of Outlook 2010 contacts is a deal killer. Some of the contacts in my phone are a complete mess. There is random historical addresses and numbers that don't appear in outlook anymore but are evidently stored somewhere for the phone to access. The DC contact duplicate entry is annoying but it works. I have been putting this phone through it's paces for about 2 weeks and I am satisfied otherwise.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy new E72 devolped an interesting problem:When i open the phonebook and start typing to look up a contact, a lot of contacts do not show up in the resukts. The same happens when i start typing on the home screen, however in messaging the lookup works. Example: want to call "Anna B." I type search for "Anna" in my phonebook, "Anna K." shows up, but "Anna B." and some other contacts containing "Anna" don't.search also does not work for the last name (for completeness).Interestingly, the affected numbers also don't show up on my car kit when the phone can't find them.I can, however just scroll through the contacts ( on the phone, not on the car kit) and, bang!, the missing contacts are actually there. so just search and car kit sync are affected. The problem can sometimes be solved by resterting the phone, sometimes not. In OVI Suite all (~280) Contacts show up and can be found.I have yet to determine wether the affected contacts are always the same, but it seems that way. They are a mixture of old/new with/without picture/email etc. so nothing obvious in common.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI have over 1,500 contacts in Outlook and has successfully synchronized them with Nokia E72 (last firmware). But quick search in Contacts application simply doesn't work - I can find only few contacts - others just dissapear when I start typing correct letters.
I tried to kill the process of this app and restart Contacts. Voila, it works correctly! But then in 5 min. I tried again and got just the same problem.Desktop quick search doesn't work too.
I've already tried to reload all the contacts in my phone - no results.
I am experiencing strange behavior of E72 contacts application. My contacts are synchronizes via Exchange (as is email, calendar and tasks). When I enter Contacts and seach for a specific name (starting H today, but it was a different letter) no contact is found when in fact this contact exists and I can find it by scrolling thru all contacts.I find that restarting the phone solves the problem for a while.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using the E72 now. But I have used almost all E-series (with keyboard) and even back to the 9000 series communicators. So far I am still very puzzled why Nokia cannot do a proper and simple search for CONTACTs. eg. John Smith, IBM, (Address) - Australia xxxx, (cell) 901222*******. You type Smith John, and it will return nothing. You type IBM and will return nothing. You type Australia, it will return nothing. You search the cell number say 9012, it wil return nothing why so dumb. I really don't care how it can connect to the internet, or listen to music or anything extra you can think of. It is a phone and the address book is the most often used pcs of software. Pls improve it with GLOBAL, all field search, instant and fast, even telephone numbers should be searchable. How difficult can that be? I am sure if you open the code, a 16 yr old kid can improve it!

View 8 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, when I want to use the search function to make calls, the contact's phone number will not show up. For example, I will type "Colin" and the only thing that comes up in the search is his email address. Otherwise, I have to manually scroll through to find his phone number to make the call. Why the search is not bringing up the phone numbers, but instead other links.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I search contacts on my Motorola admiral it only searches first and last names. So if I have a contact without a first or last name it doesn't show up in the results at all. How can this be? A business centric phone can't search contacts by organization/business name! I called sprint and Motorola support and their solution was for me to manually go through all my contacts and put something in the first/last name field
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange issue which I have not found on any forums.Up until yesterday I had a Droid X, which was working fine until the speaker had an issue. So, I did a factory reset. First one ever since going to Gingerbread. Since then, if I use the hard button to search for contacts the results always send me to the same contact. For example: Lets say I have contacts John Smith, Larry Jones, and Susan Doe.Search for Doe, shows me Susan Doe's name, click on her name...and John Smith opens up.Search for Jones, shows me Larry Jones' name, click on his name...and John Smith opens up.No pattern as to why it's John Smith. Not first in the contact list or anything. And, if I delete John Smith, then another contact becomes the 'go-to' contact. Again, no pattern as to why.
So, why is this in the Droid X2 forum? Because I didn't worry too much about this issue since I was getting a new phone, a Droid X2. Got the new phone, set it up...and the same issue is in this one. I did not import any contacts directly from the one phone to the other using VZW or Gmail. All contacts are loaded via DejaOffice/Companionlink. Very frustrating, since the hard button was how I would bring up my contacts.
Using Voice Search on my RAZR MAXX, using it for the automatic commands, I'm getting odd results. Here's a specific example...
speaking ... "Call Mom mobile" - This comes up w/ the display that's about to call a number, but it has the wrong number. The screenshot has the number blocked out and I aded "Wrong Number" on top of it, but so people could see what stage I'm at.This also occurs using the autocomplete when sending a text message. I type in "mom" and the WRONG contact shows up in the drop down below (wrong name, wrong number). *** It is important to note here that the WRONG contact that shows up in this case MATCHES the wrong contact that shows up w/ Voice Search. This used to work just fine, I've used it for months. But it's recently stopped working.
So, using "People" (which is listed as "Contacts" in manage apps?! - so, under Apps, only "People" is listed, no "Contacts" ... under manage apps, no "People" entry is listed, only "Contacts") on my phone - entry for "Mom" is NOT present. But, an entry using her first / last is there. The number is present, the wrong number is not.Getting online to check my contacts directly with google - there IS an entry for "Mom", with the correct number, the wrong number is not there. If I do a search for the wrong number, it takes me to the correct contact (not Mom), if I search for Mom's number, it pulls up the correct contact (Mom).
When I seach informations in contact lists with spotligh (Ex.: Address, Notes, etc.... ), it only show results of the contacts principal header, and not of the other camps (notes, address, etc...).
How to search in "spotlight" details in contacts, with base in another camps, how "notes", "address", and others?

For the past few days my 808 dialler no loger does Contact Search while tapping the T9 keys. I've checked that the setting is enabled.I've also found that Messaging no longer displays my contacts, just their phone numbers. The timing of this seems to coincide with the recent Social update for FP2, but it could be coincidence.
