When I am start to make a call I start the phone app. Then activate the num block. At the number keys there is letters.I would find it natural to start typing the letters that my contacts name starts with. But it do not work that way. Even when I know that the app is looking in the cantactlist after each number i press.
I can't seem to find a way to change the default behavior of the Contacts app to search only for contacts that have a phone number.
My contacts are synchronized with my Google account and since Google saves all used emails as contacts (in the "Other Contacts" group), whenever I search for a contact in the phone I get a list of all the emails that also match my search. this is so annoying.
I enabled the option "Only contacts with phones" in the settings, but that seems only to affect the contacts that are displayed in the list, search is not affected by it.
I also tried changing the "Contacts to display" option to use a customized list and selecting only the desired group (My Contacts) from my Google account, but nothing was affected except for the list itself.
Any way to change that behavior without installing a third party dialer app?
My new E72 devolped an interesting problem:When i open the phonebook and start typing to look up a contact, a lot of contacts do not show up in the resukts. The same happens when i start typing on the home screen, however in messaging the lookup works. Example: want to call "Anna B." I type search for "Anna" in my phonebook, "Anna K." shows up, but "Anna B." and some other contacts containing "Anna" don't.search also does not work for the last name (for completeness).Interestingly, the affected numbers also don't show up on my car kit when the phone can't find them.I can, however just scroll through the contacts ( on the phone, not on the car kit) and, bang!, the missing contacts are actually there. so just search and car kit sync are affected. The problem can sometimes be solved by resterting the phone, sometimes not. In OVI Suite all (~280) Contacts show up and can be found.I have yet to determine wether the affected contacts are always the same, but it seems that way. They are a mixture of old/new with/without picture/email etc. so nothing obvious in common.
I have my contacts in my iphone, I am now trying to search my iphone contacts by zip code......can I do so with my iphone or with itunes or do I need some other means?
So when I click my contacts icon on the iphone a bunch of my contacts are missing. If I use the search function, the page to the left of the home screen, i can find contacts I've added and ones I'm looking for, but they dont show up under contacts. There're obviously on the phone somewhere, but I dont know where. O and if I add a contact via the contact icon, push the little green plus sign, and add it manually it will show up under the contacts, but if i try and save something from resent calls or maps and say add to contacts, new contact, it doesn't show up. Also if I add a contact to outlook and sink, it wont show up either. Thanks and hopefully this is pretty clear.
On the home landline we are able to register our telephone number so that the nuisance / cold calling sales calls can be blocked. Does anyone know of anything similar for mobiles or if there is an App that blocks certain numbers?
I've never been bothered by these calls before but a couple of particular numbers are now texting & calling trying to sell PPI etc.
Is there software that will allow for blocking specific callers and texting. I am looking for a proven result that can block specific incoming/unwanted meassages.
I have recently deployed a new BB Pearl 9100 to a user that is attached to a BES server w/ MS Exchange 2003. This is the users first blackberry coming from a Nokia device. They are used to viewing their contacts by typing in the first character of the contacts last name such as "S" for 'John Smith" and all contacts whose last name starts with "S" are displayed.
On the current BB 9100 I can change the sort option on the phone by going to Contacts | Options | Contact Display and Actions | Sort By: Last Name. But when the user searches the contacts and types the letter "S" for 'John Smith' on the Blackberry, the user is shown all contacts that contain the letter "S" (first name, last name, or company). I know that you can type"SMI" to narrow your query but is there a function on the device or a BES policy that can be applied to display/search for contacts in the manner that they are used to?
I have recently bought a new N8. My previous phone was HTC touch diamond 2. In the HTC, you could block the caller id to people not in the contacts list. For example, only people whose numbers were stored on your phone/sim card could see that you were calling. If you called anyone else, it would come up as 'Caller ID Withheld'. But now in my N8, I only have three options. Show caller id, withhold caller id and 'set by network'
how I can show my caller id to people only on my contacts list?
I've searched high and low, it seems I may be the first to report this issue:not long after I upgraded to the new firmware, I noticed that I can no longer search my contact list; I can get into contact list, but when I try to type some letters into the search box, the letters do not "stay", it comes up for a very brief moment and then deletes itself :-/
I've tried typing in other languages: same.
I've tried typing in other application: works as normal
I've tried clearing the cache using y-browser: no good
I've tried reseting the phone - both the 7370 and 7780 method: doesn't really fix it -> 7370 reset will fix it for a while, but as soon as I load my contact lists back in, it either stops working or allow for one more search and then it's gone.I'm suspecting it's related to the new firmware... and that's pretty much the only thing I haven't tried, I don't know how to roll-back the firmware
As you know Nokia confuses duplicate numbers and doesn't show any names for them, showing only the number
I have a missed called from someone and I'm sure I know the number but can't figure out who the caller was because evidently I have it with two contact entries.I dont want to search more than 400 contacts!
I have two N8s..1st I purchased in 11 Jan 2011 and second one on 27 Dec 2011. Both have latest firmwares (025.007.C03.01) installed on them. But there is a difference in search option for contacts. The first phone (black in the pic) has normal old fashioned keypad which occupies the whole screen. And the second one (white in the pic) has qwerty keyboard which occupies half the screen. Why is so?I want qwerty in black N8 too.
When I want to place a call and need to search my contacts, I hit the first letter in the name and the search function will not take me to that letter in the alphabet.I have to scroll thru hundreds of names.
When I try to block contacts on my Motorola droid turbo I cannot find anything of the sort. On previous android phones the ability has been in settings with easy to find access. But now I am unable to prevent calls and texts from reaching me.
I'm looking for a Call Blocker App that can block all calls except from contacts I put in a Whitelist and that blocks the call before the call connects/rings from the caller side.
There are many Call Blocker Apps on the Play Store that can block all calls except from contacts in a Whitelist, but all the ones I've tried so far connect/ring before the call is disconnected, so the caller can here the phone ring/connect before the App rejects/disconnects it, therefore the caller can workout that the call has been blocked/rejected.
I'm from the UK and have a stock/un-rooted Samsung Galaxy S6 running Android 5.0.2, so I'm looking for an App that doesn't require my phone to be rooted.
I recently moved from an N95 to a X6 16GB. I transferred all of my data including 4,200 contacts successfully. However, when I attempted to use the search function in contacts I received the "Memory Full - Close Applications" message. When looking at the memory data both the C and E drives have plenty of available memory.I have tried reformatting and both soft and hard resets but the only successful solution has been to reduce the number of contacts to around 2,000. This is a real nuisance since it means that I cannot do a simple synch with Outlook on a regular basis.Does anyone else have this problem? More importantly, does any know a solution so that I can return to normal Outlook synchs as I did on my N95?
