Aug 17, 2010When I was in Canada, I dropped my iPhone 3GS in a water drain, and it essentially got drenched. After submerging it in rice for seven hours and letting it sit for three weeks, it works absolutely fine - albeit one small problem.
The backlight is completely non-functional. It won't react to anything at all, I've restored, everything.
Now, all that's left is asking you guys for help. HELP! How can I get my backlight to work again? Is it fixable?
IPhone :: 4s Started Making Strange Sound Like A Ping/water Drop?
Apr 29, 2012First time it happened my phone was locked sitting in my lap, nothing lite up just made the sound, 15-20min later I plugged it in to charge and it made the sound again. Nothing ever comes up in notifications just bluooop sound! It has also happened while I have been using my iPhone, while in iMessage and other apps! I have checked every app on my iPhone and sound setting I can think of and can't figure out were it is coming from or why!!

Apr 11, 2012I have a water damaged iPhone that I've arranged to return to Apple for replacement at a cost of £126.44. I want to back-up what I can before I do this, but the phone literally only lasts about 60-90 seconds each time I switch it on. I have had a look at iTunes, in the edit->preferences->devices section, and it is showing the following [url] That seems to show a back-up on 9 March 2012, which is fairly recent and I'd be happy with using that to transfer to the refurbished iPhone from Apple.Can someone confirm:-
1. What that back-up actually "backs-up" - i.e. does it back-up everything (contacts/SMS/MMS/Pictures/Videos/Notes/Apps, etc)?
2. If I tried to do a further back-up, will this wipe the back-up from the 9th March 2012, or will I still have the 9th March back-up available to choose to use as a restore when I get the refurbished phone?
3. How long does a back-up take?

Jul 25, 2012My blackberry 9630 was water damaged pretty bad. I went home and put the phone in rice for a day, it still didn't turn on. I then left it in my car (in the heat) for a few hours and it turned on and was working.The only issue was, the keyboard wasn't functioning properly. It would type several letters on screen when I typed any single key.I opened it up and put isopropyl alcohol on it, upon closing the phone it was not working at all.When I plug it in, the red light turns on. (and stays on for quite some time) however the phone never turns on.

May 7, 2010Last week my girlfriend dropped my BB in water that was real quick (3 secs | kitchen sink) and it wasn't that bad but as precaution I pulled put battery and put in jar with uncooked rice. After about a week took I out tried it yesterday to get it working for about 6 hours and no use.
It's just total dead just very very long red light flashing
I have tried Jl_Cmder doesn't seems to be working
I Can see it connected with PC but not DM
I have tried APPLOADER with jvm and no jvm just stuck on waiting for device initialization for hours and hours and keep sending error device not found.
And yes there was no sign of life for about 4 to 5 hours but after pulling out battery and connecting it to external charger I am getting a battery sign on screen.
IPhone :: Water Damage Indicator Triggered Without It Being In Water?
Jun 13, 2012My phone has been acting really strange recently (multiple apps shutting down, long app loading time, extremely bad battery life-- almost 20% decrease with 2 hour use) So I visited apple store today and they told me that all of the symptoms were due to water damage of my phone.
And water damage was least of my suspections. Okay so my phone has been near water, but never in it. I take my phone to the shower sometimes for music and that's the closest my phone got to water. The apple store showed me how the supposed to be white sticker inside the charging jack turned red and they told me that my warranty is now void.
They also told me that I need to pay $200 if I want a replacement and that there is nothing they can do when I told them that this phone has never been in water or suffered water related accidents.
I asked them if there was only one water damage indicator in a iphone. The person told me that there were four, two on the outside and two in the inside. He opened up my phone and told me that only one water damage indicator (external one) but they only need one indicator to turn red to void my warranty.
When I repeatedly told him that I never had my iphone near water he told me that it only takes one drop of water to trigger the indicator and that it could be anything like a raindrop. I think this is absurd.

Jun 10, 2011Does anyone else have major 3G problems with this phone? Sometimes it will stay on 1X in a known 3G area, other times it will drop totally and then come back after a few seconds. I have had an Original Droid and a Droid X that had no such problems in my area. I need to know if this is defective behavior or if it is a software problem that can be fixed and Motorola is aware of.

Aug 27, 2014Recently I got a broken Iphone 4S from a friend and he told me he dropped it, so it doesn't show anything at all. I thought it was a LCD problem so i bought a new lcd screen from amazon and well it some-what works. I hear siri and it vibrates a couple of times (vibrates when i plug it to a charger) but the screen is off , nothing no light or anything, also the light in the back is always on (it did that before). My question is whats the issue now? and is it still fixable? Also i can't connect it to itunes because of password and i don't know how to unlock the phone through the computer.In addition, I already tried holding the home and power button for 10-20 seconds, even holding just the power button...

Jan 6, 2010I had a bit of an accident with my iPhone about 8 weeks ago, some tool spilt their drink down my leg, which got liquid into the docking port of the phone (sensor has been tripped) The backlight died and the phone wouldn't play sound out loud, although if it was rang it was fine (??) I left it switched off and the next day it started to function normally again.couple of weeks later and the backlight has died again, this time for good. i've tried resets etc, and it looks as if it needs a hardware repair, an LCD screen one would assume. The phone has been opened by a 3rd party, and they quoted a £110 repair, so i've decided i'm going to buy the part and fix it myself.
Will replacing the LCD solve the problem, as i have read of occasions where this has not fixed a backlight problem?Any ideas on where I can get the cheapest deal on a replacement 3GS LCD screen?Could this be a problem thats related to something other than LCD?
