Has anyone else had a problem with the back light dying? Twice it has happened to me. One time it came back with a battery pull and once I had to do a full reload of the OS.I've had the phone since Sept 09 and this is the only problem I've had, but it is a big pain in the **** when I have to reload the OS, since I have to get another activation code from my IT department.
View 5 RepliesI have an 8220 flip (with T-Mobile) that has stopped responding half the time. Some of the time it works perfectly -- and then, without warning, the screens go dark (both inside or out, depending on whether I have the phone open at the time) and the red "you have a message" light comes on, and stays on for about ten seconds. Then everything goes dark for a bit, and then the screen goes white, with the spinning clock in the middle. After ten or fifteen seconds, the screen goes dark again and the red light comes back, and the cycle repeats endlessly until I take out the battery.
Sometimes replacing the battery fixes the problem; sometimes it doesn't. The phone seems most likely to be lucid when fully charged, but swapping out the battery for another has not worked.
I received my Flip 8230 today and have not yet had the chance to activate it and probably won't until tomorrow or Friday. I've been playing with it though to get a good feel for it, and I've noticed that there's no browser installed nor is there any MMS folder or option when sending a picture. I did a search on both issues and found one thread in which it was suggested to resend the service books to remedy the browser problem, so I'll do that as soon as it's hooked up.
What worries me more though is the lack of an MMS folder or MMS option when trying to send a picture. (I can't actually send one of course since my phone isn't activated yet, but the option should still be there.) I did a search on that as well and did find a couple threads about it, but neither really contain an answer to the problem. How do I fix it? I'll be pretty sad if I can't do MMS with this phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry 8230 that won't turn on. When the battery is charged, the red light flashes very slowly (about 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off). When I plug the USB cable into the computer, I see the BB hard drive for a brief second or two, then it disappears. It will appear briefly again about 20 seconds later, then disappear again. Is the battery shot? Or could there be something else going on? The phone was on the charger all night.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm posting this for a friend who has an "almost year old Pearl Flip" with Rogers Canada, running Rogers' latest officical software, whatever that is.She was able to use her Motorola BT headset up until about a month ago, then updated the OS on the phone, and now BT will NOT enable. No matter what workarounds, it simply will not activate. Believe me, I've tried every method known to "force" the BT to activate.Is this a known problem with this phone? i've googled and found some hints that there might be a hardware issue, but nothing really concrete that she can take to Rogers to show that this might be a known issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo earlier, my Flip was charging on top of my computer [my comp tower is on the floor, so it wasn't a LONG drop] and the battery popped out [backing of the phone is missing -.- im getting a replacement in shortly though]. So when i put the battery back in, and some error came up on the phone...I didn't exactly get to read it, because it started up shortly after.
Now, what happened was that my memory card took a crap and I couldn't access ANYTHING in my memory card NOR any of my MMS! My SMS are all there though. So I did a battery pull...ran a checkdisk for the SD and my pictures/music are alll back. My MMS, which is more important, aren't though.
Is there something i'm missing here? Is there any way to recover it?? My biggest headache is that I thought I did a backup of my phone two nights ago when I did an OS update. However, what had happen was that during the OS update, it backed up my phone...so me being dumb, I thought it saved the backup in my computer [unless perhaps it did?!].
the trackball on my pearl flip will NOT go down. Can this be cleaned or does it have to be replaced?It goes up and side to side, but not down.

Then i tried some ways to get it to work (take the battery out, attempt to use loader to wipe the device, etc) and now it tells me "Reload Software 507". Also the phone has no sound when trying to play music, but the alarm still works. Internet and texting also works. If I go Options...Advanced Options ... Host routing Table... Register now... then pull the battery it will work for awhile (an hour or two).

I know for sure it was saved in my 'saved messages' folder, for the purpose of forwarding it later.I am able to delete the message from the 'saved' folder, however I cannot delete it from my Inbox. I've tried doing a battery pull, but it didn't help. I've tried deleting the message, then pulling the battery...and pulling then deleting. Nothing works.The message was sent and saved on February 19, 2010 at 5:32 PM. As for deleting..I've tried to delete prior, delete it individually, mark it read and then delete it, everything I can think of.Anyone know what I can do? It's been annoying me for months, and no suggestions on other threads have helped.

I don't want to delete the OS and have to reinstall and all that, I just simply want to remove my own personal information that I've put into it.From everything I've read, I simply go to Options > Security Settings > General Settings > Wipe Handheld. On my 8330 I can find this perfectly but on my 8230 it's nowhere to be found? That option is just not there and I can't find it anywhere else either. I know the phone had been restored to factory settings when I received it so there's gotta be a way to do this. Any ideas anyone? Running v4.6.1.234 ETA: Okay, I just went back into General Settings and scrolled down to a few random things listed under Services.I see that when I click those, I'm given the "Wipe Handheld" option. View 8 Replies View RelatedFor the last two weeks or so I have been getting an alert tone every 6 hours. The tone is Notifier Nymph which I do not have assigned to anything. I get no text or icon notices, just the tone at 9:39 and 3:39. Strange.....I have tried several battery pulls, Downgraded BBM (to 4.6) and then uninstalled BB Messenger, then reinstalled BBM 5. Still the same thing. There are no tasks running no recurring appointments or anything.

None of the repair shops could resolve the issue & hence I decided to wipe the existing OS (on my own) and reload the latest one by downloading it from BB website for my carrier (Airtel). I wiped the existing OS using BBSAK and tried loading the OS.But since then I have been facing issues and not able to do it. While trying to load the OS, the handset restarts automatically, for some reason, and the loading ends abruptly. I have observed that this happens while the applicaion tries to load 'net_rim_cldc.cod'.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have not abused this phone nor has it gotten wet. I've tried two different batteries and two different chargers and it still yields zero response. Not even a charging light when i plug it in. I literally put it in my pocket while it was fully functioning, took it out an hour later and it was off. Now i can't even get the bricked screen of death. I haven't taken it apart yet but i have a feeling i'm going to have to. I just got it from a friend and he just downloaded the newest os to it. It had a 2 gig memory card in it but there was nothing on the card as i only had it for a week before this happened. The phone will not allow me to disable the password function. Beside where it says Password: there is a red lock symbol and the word Enabled. I want to be able to use the phone without having to always enter a password.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe speakerphone isn't working for my phone, which also includes the ringer and anything not including the earphone speaker. I dropped my phone and it cracker and only the speakerphone was working. I opened it up and a few things became disconnected including the ear speaker and camera so I reconnected them and they worked but then speaker stopped working after I had taken it apart. Did I somehow manage to disconnect that or ruin the connection? Any tips would be appreciated I think that the speaker is located on the plastic housing that the keypad is attacked to but im not sure.

So, Verizon sent me a replacement phone; however, there does not appear to be a web browser on the replacement phone. When I go to advance options and then to applications, I think I see what may be a file for a browser, but regardless, no "globe" icon on the main menu or in any of the folders. How do I find/install the web browser?

I updated it today to the .305 and didn't notice this screen issue till just a hour ago. I deleted the vendor and both my favs files I saw in the java folder.
