I have an iPhone 4 through Sprint. Yesterday I purchased a ringtone through iTunes on the phone, and assigned it to 1 contact. It shows as being assigned to that contact, however, when I get a call from that person, the default ringtone plays. I've since synced with iTunes on the computer, but I can't figure out why the assigned ringtone won't play.

I set my wife's contact with a custom ringtone. Sometimes when she calls, the phone plays the custom ringtone. Sometimes she calls, and it plays the default ringtone.
I check the settings, and the custom tone is still set correctly. And the ringtone is on the phone, not on the memory card.
Today I noticed that when this happened, the phone started ringing the default tone while her cell number appeared on the screen, before the phone detected it was the contact with her name. Could it be that the phone delayed recognizing her number as being on the contact list, and therefore played the default tone?
I added a custom ringtone to a contact but the ringtone only works when the contact calls me. But when he texts me the ringtone is the same as the other contacts and I don't know how to make the msgs stick with the custom ringtone of the contact.

I just got my nice new iphone and have found trouble putting custom ringtones on. i can succesfully sync 1 ringtone (yes its 29secs long acc format with .m4r ending). In my itunes ringtone folder i can see the 3 ringtones i have put on there so far yet when i go to settings on my iphone only one shows up, not the multiple copies others have experienced. im using itunes 9.0.3 and have iphone 3gs 16gb version 3.1.2

I couldn't find a thread with this specific problem. I have certain contacts that I have specific ringtones for when they call. But I don't want to have a custom text ringer for those people. Whenever I set a custom ringer for those contacts, it automatically changes the text ringer as well. Is there any way to only give them a custom call-tone and leave all text messages as the same tone?

I've downloaded it as an MP3 to the My Music folder and also copied it to a new folder that I've called "music" on my external memory card. So I'm able to play the tune from both locations but I can't find any menu option that allows me to set it as the ringtone. When I hold down the song in My Music a menu comes up that gives a number of options starting with Play and ending with Copy to DLNA server and Delete. The Mortorla phone tech person said that between the last two on his phone was a Set as ringtone option but it does not exist on mine. He offered to reset my phone to the original factory settings. I turned the phone on this AM and when a contract called me, it rang with a different ring tone. I looked at the phone contacts and each one I had set for a custom ring was CHANGED to a random mp3 in my song library. My default ring was set to "UNKNOWN".

I have a 5800 that I have been troubleshooting for the past Month. We have been to the provider who has now replaced the phone twice in the past two months. Calling out appears to be fine. However when customizing the phone I am unable to set picture and a ringtone to a contact in the contact list. The Contact is saved on the phone. When the person dials in the picture will display correctly but the ringtone will play a default ring not a custom file as selected. This has heppened on all 3 of the phones. I am down to the OS of the phone which the provider says is up to date.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore updating my iPhone 4S's software to 5.1 the Bluetooth connected to my vehichle's Bluetooth radio and worked perfectly. Now if I receive or make a call, the Bluetooth connects and rings through, but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. Also, my music will no longer play through the vehicle (which worked perfectly before the update). The song title shows up on the vehicle's radio but no audio. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth but nothing seems to help.
PS On a side note, this update made an amazing difference on my battery life on my iPhone 4S. I used to charge my phone every night and have about 40% remaining at the end of the day...now it's about 85% left at the end of the day with the same amount of usage!

Well the other day I went to use my new headphones on my iPhone4 and the sound was terrible. The sound is distorted and crackly, to get the other speaker to go on I have to put the volume at 100% and that makes my ears bleed lol. I plug the headphone in my computer and they worked fine. I tried another set of headphones on my iPhone and Only sound would come out of one speaker. Same thing happens if I plug it into a stero. Im freaking out bacuse my iPhone is my baby and I have no idea what happen. I have already restored the phone and restarted the device multiple times and still nothing is working.

Every time I try to unlock my phone with my finger, it keeps saying try again and have to put my passcode.
Then I go to settings to delete the fingerprint and create a new one. So then I let it read my finger, after resting my finger on the home button. After lifting and resting my finger on the home button for about 10-13 times, I get this error every single time. What can I do to fix it? I keep drying my hands and cleaning the home button but that doesn't . On the first day I got the phone, it worked perfectly but in about a few weeks, it's not working correctly.

I tried with Mp3 at 320 bit rate and as well as WMA. After upgrade to the 5.1.1 iOS I was not able to set individual ringtone to each of contact anymore.
All my contacts are using the same default ringtone when ever anyone calls.
When I go into contact and hit edit I can see the different ringtone already setup for each contact and when I click it I can hear it play just fine. Then I exit and went back to main screen and try to call the phone and it still using the default ringtone.
