After upgrading to 5.1.1 I am unable to assign my mp3s as custom music to contacts. I can assign default ring tones but even if my mp3 seems correctly associated to a contact, when I receive a call the default ringtone plays.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI set my wife's contact with a custom ringtone. Sometimes when she calls, the phone plays the custom ringtone. Sometimes she calls, and it plays the default ringtone.
I check the settings, and the custom tone is still set correctly. And the ringtone is on the phone, not on the memory card.
Today I noticed that when this happened, the phone started ringing the default tone while her cell number appeared on the screen, before the phone detected it was the contact with her name. Could it be that the phone delayed recognizing her number as being on the contact list, and therefore played the default tone?
I only received my Galaxy S2 today so am very new to this, I want to have my own ringtone instead of the ones already set up on phone, on previous phones I've just been able to assign any of my music to ring tone but I cannot seem to that with this

With other BB's, I was able to assign a different ringtone to each of my contacts. I cannot figure out how to do that with the 9650 I just received from work.
Basically, I want one ringtone for all calls except for the contacts where I have assigned a different ringtone for them.
I have tons of contacts and don't like the quiet tone that's set on my new phone. It will take hours to do individually so need to learn how to do all at once.

Who thought it would be a good idea to remove the functionality to assign each email account their own notification ringtone? I use this as a tool to know when an email is from my personal account or from my work account. Now I have to pick the phone every time to find out which it was. That was dumb of Motorola. I just got my nice new iphone and have found trouble putting custom ringtones on. i can succesfully sync 1 ringtone (yes its 29secs long acc format with .m4r ending). In my itunes ringtone folder i can see the 3 ringtones i have put on there so far yet when i go to settings on my iphone only one shows up, not the multiple copies others have experienced. im using itunes 9.0.3 and have iphone 3gs 16gb version 3.1.2
