I have a 16GB iphone but am an avid music lover. I own tons of music. I have iMatch and iCloud. As of right now my phone says I only use about half of the storage space on it in audio. Very litle is used for apps or pictures. I have another half of the storage space in a category called "Other". What is in that category? I would really like to add more music however my storage keeps stating I am almost full and need to manage. I would delete things if I thought it would make more room but it seems to take very little room off when I remove apps and pictures and does not really affect the other category.

If I import my photo's from iPhone to iPhoto and let it remove them from my phone, they come back to my phone through the photo stream which is expected.But if i then sync iPhoto with my phone through iTunes, they also now appear under Albums in the Photo Library. Is this now using twice the storage for the photo's?

I'm using the default iCloud storage plan. Since this is only 5GB, I don't back up anything but WhatsApp besides contacts, mail and notes. I don't even have Photo Stream enabled. WhatsApp only takes up 1.3 GB, and I regularly delete redundant notes and keep my iCloud inbox completely clean (by forwarding emails to my other accounts), which would mean that my contacts take up around 3GB. This is impossible as I have only 100+ contacts and don't sync them with my Facebook contacts.Â
What's even weirder is that the iCloud usage tab tells me that there is 703 MB available of 5.0 GB on iCloud, but is unable to back up my phone due to needing an extra 3.9 GB of storage.how I could manage my iCloud storage more effectively.

I updated my iphone 5S, which I regret because it made my music app unplayable. I backed it up before updating, while trying to restore my phone from that back up an error message pops up sayif there is not enough room to restore from back up. There's 16.6 GB used and 10.2GB available. I read online that I can go to settinga > general > erase all content and settings, and that would free up the space to restore from back up. However I had this same issue on my old phone and no matter how much I deleted from my phone there still wasn't enough room to restore from back up. So I'm concerned that if I do clear my phone by erasing all content and settings that I will still be unable to restore my phone from back up and then I'll just be screwed.

So I have a 16GB Galaxy s5 and am down to 1GB of free space, though it's been less than that before and prevented updates. I thought the problem would be pictures and videos but it turns out 3GB are being used for contact storage, this is absurd because I only have 236 contacts. I do have it connected to my FB so I have contact photos on most, but that still seems like a ridiculous amount of space. I've had the phone for about a year and I clear cached data regularly because of the space issue. What do I do? Do I need to delete the contact photos? And if so how? Is there some sort of cloud storage I could use to get the data off my phone?

Photos and videos are going to direct to SD card (unless I'm doing it wrong, but I see the SD card indicator). Is there a quick way to tell which app may be putting too much data on the phone rather than the SD card? Or where space is being taken up that can be freed or moved?

My internal SD card says it has .90gb left, with 7.1gb being used. I have nothing in the media section and I have moved everything I can when presented with the option to make more room on the internal SD.Is there a way to clear more space? Moving apps to SD doesn't work. They just go to the internal SD card. I'm not sure what is taking up so much space. I don't have that many apps loaded up.

I hooked it up to my computer, opened iTunes and then the phone turned on just fine, but it's telling me that there's no memory (storage space, not RAM) left and I need to delete things.
iTunes shows my phone is like 95% full of "other." My phone is not full, not even close. Even still, I tried deleting things, but that didn't work. So then I went into my calendar to see when an upcoming appointment was, and everything in my calendar is gone. I then tried to send a text, but as soon as I write it and hit "send" the MMS app crashes and kicks me back to the springboard and my text doesn't send. The phone works, the mail app works and I've tested a couple apps and they appear to be working. Other than restoring, if there any way to fix it? If I do restore, what's the best way to back everything up? I don't want to lose my contacts or the data from some of my apps.
I had an iphone 4 that was 32 gigs and now am trying to restore my new i phone 4s that is 16 gigs. I think I may have too many pics to fit into the 16 gigs. Will this create problems restoring? Can I restore this new phone and leave the old pictures out?

so I was going to buy gta for my s5 I started to download it but I did not know that it would take up 2.4 GB wile I had like 1 GB so I did not have enough space and I would just get an error so I deleted tons of apps till I got 1.2 something GB when I tryed to download the app again it said it was downloading and would take 2.4 GB but I had 1.2 so once it reached 1.2GB/2.4GB it gave the not enough space error so, I checked to see how much space I had, well... i had 109 MB... yep. GG google playstore. GG. so I refunded gta (gives my money back AND uninstalls it) and checked back at my storage... still 109 MB. How do I delete this 1.2 GB unfinished file off my phone?? I looked all over my phone and can't figure it out. I am rooted on s5 Verizon by the way.

Due to battery life that's gone down to about 7 hours from an initial average of about 11, I decided it was time to reset my phone to see if that might work (though I've taken to the less nuclear option of allowing Google to restore my apps and app data from Google's backup).
Before the reset, I'd had almost every app that could be moved to the SD card moved to the SD card.
The reset did not affect the SD card.Now, I'd like to move all my apps that can be so moved, moved onto the SD card again. My question is, since the reset did not affect my SD card (I'd even removed it for one of the two resets that I've done since last night), is there app stuff from my previous installation on my SD card, stuff that I should be able to delete now to make space for my new set of apps that I want to move to the card?If so, how do I clear out that old app stuff?
I assume that I need to...If I had Audible installed on the card before, and I now have Audible in my phone's internal storage, if I move it to the card, is there any chance that it'll recognize the previous installation, re-associate itself with it, and thus save me the time of downloading previously downloaded audiobooks?

View 13 Replies View Related[Lollipop] Under settings/Apps there is a list of apps together with the number of megabytes it ostensibly uses. I can click on that and see those megabytes divided into App and Date use.
But... Today I uninstalled "Real racing 3", which claimed to use up 84MB (app+data). Immediately after that, the amount of free storage climbed with a whooping 1.14GB ! (and total "App" usage decreased by the same amount).
Is there a more reliable way to find out how much space an app is using?
So I just downloaded an icon pack and an alert popped up telling me I have 2.33mb of internal storage space left. When I go to my settings then select storage, it says I still have over 18gb available of internal storage remaining.

I checked it and my apps are only using about 1.0gb, with data downloads, pictures and so on the phone say it's only using about 4gb but the rest of it says other 11.5gb. I cleaned the internet history, catch files, all calls in the log, and so on. I can't find what is burning up all my storage space. Is there some hidden stuff somewhere I have to clear or something. For the last couple of days I have had this issue where the message that my phone is running out of storage space has been showing up and not going away.I have checked the amount of storage space I actually have available (10,70mb Internally and 3,66GB on a external SD card.) Well enough space to use. I have tried rectifying this by moving bigger applications and games to the SD card (amount of storage space available I posted earlier is after this) as well as emptying my text message storage and image gallery. Yet it does not go away.
