IPhone :: After Replacing Data Is Safe?
Jul 24, 2010As the title says. Very good service from Apple. Turned out that my iPhone had a fair few problems when they checked it over. Is the data on it safe? Photos etc.

View 9 RepliesI recently lost my iPhone. It was a first generation that I had managed to hold onto and keep working for years. I left it in the back of a cab and despite all my effort to relocate it, it appears it's gone for good.I had AT&T deactivate it 20 mins after I lost it. I also had the passcode feature active. AT&T has assured me that the combination of the two will pretty much render the phone a paper weight unless whoever found the phone restores it. I've never had to restore the phone, so one question I have is could whoever has my phone gain access to my data after restoring it? Like will iTunes back up the data for them and then allow them to download it again to the phone? Is my data safe? I work for a media organization and I had some very sensitive and valuable data on that phone. The kind of data I could lose my job over if a third party were to somehow access it. Not to mention the countless phone numbers and the huge log of text messages that contained sensitive personal information. Also, please spare me the ridicule of asking why I had so much important information on the phone.I've spent the last week beating myself up over it, and needless to say have learned my lesson. Trust me when I say I"ve punished myself enough over this. After an initial search, it appears there are illicit ways to hack the phone and get around the passcode, however my understanding of the subject is limited, and my question boils down to: can someone access the data on my phone?I"m merely looking for peace of mind here.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Iphone 4 has been synchronizing for 4 hours and seems to be stuck on step 6 of 6 (Downloading Safari safe browsing data). It was taking a very long time before, and I had to stop the syncronization before it was finished. Now all of my music is greyed out. Is this normal?

eBaying my unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 3GS. What countries would be safe to send internationally? Or should I only sell within the United States?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI desperately need more storage on this phone.. The only way I have found to gain extra storage is to have root and use StickMount. I have a lot of info and game saves that I don't want to lose to a data wipe though. Is there a safe root method on stock 5.1.1 that doesn't wipe data?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a hairline crack on my phone and got it replaced and went ahead and did the following.
1. Checked the firmware 3.1.2 (which is good)
2. Redsn0w 0.9.2, During jailbreak, it asked if I have the newer version of week 45 and higher and I clicked yes.
3. After jailbreak, it rebooted and I got the itunes restore screen.
4. I ran blackra1n to continue tethered boot.
5. Ran Cydia and installed some apps. One of which asked for reboot. Went ahead and expected to rerun blackra1n as i expected a tethered phone and to my surprise, the boot went through without the itunes restore icon.
I believe I must have got lucky once again with a new phone. Purpose of this thread is to inform others that there is still the old iboots out there.
I need to replace my iPhone 4 screen and they told me that i need to replace the LCD and the screen because they are glued. That's fine with me. They charge me US$200 ($99.000 chilean pesos) and other guys charge me US$100 ($50.000). The one that charged me US$100 told me that it would be just like new, but i ask him if there are any difference with a replacement. He told me that the brightness could not be the same.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have loads of people in my contacts who have signed up on the day for newsletters/specials etc. When a customer asks to be removed from our distribution list, I always cut their contact details from the mobile and email fields and paste into their notes. This way, when I send out an update to everyone on the list, the contact doesn't receive it but I still have their details if they need me to contact them personally. I do this cut and paste on my 5s (OS up to date), on Outlook 2013 (Windows 8.1) and iCloud.Â
The problem I've been having lately is that when I sync my iPhone with iTunes (up to date), it somehow puts the more recent contacts' phone number and email back into the fields on both iPhone and Outlook. I have been doing this for a long time and have quite a few regular customers who opted out a while ago. Their fields are empty and their contact details are in their notes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new lcd screen to replace the cracked one in my LG Dare, and after putting it in place and reassembling my phone I found that when I turn it on all I see is a dark screen. It has a glow so I think the lcd must be working, but there is no picture, there is no crack, nothing. I've taken it apart again and checked all the connectors and still nothing. Am I missing something or could the new screen be faulty?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a display build assembly because mine had cracked and wasn't usable and I watched some videos on how to dissassemble, took me like five hours straight to dissassrmble and reassemble it and everything works, I was shocked cause it did take some manhandling . But the only problem is, I basically have a really nice iPod touch haha. My SIM card is in the phone but it says there is no SIM card. And I tried the whole cut a tiny thin card piece and put it in on top of the SIM card, it doesn't work. I really hope I didn't mess something up in there, andit he tiny hole next to it doesn't let me even pop it out I have to stick a tiny blade in and drag it out. SIM card appears to have no damage, could I of left something unplugged in it?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhowever, I want to replace it with the 16Gb card I have from my old phone. The problem is that I think that there might already be some applications on the existing SD card and don't want to lose them when I change over.I haven't been able to get it to work. My PC will only take normal sized SD cards, so that back-up option isn't one I can use. how I can take a back-up of the existing SD card, or even simply to transfer what's on it to the 16Gb card?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi would like to replace the sides of my galaxy s2 from tmobile. the phone got dropped today and the sides were scratched a bit. what is the part that i need to get and where can i get it online? also is there a guide on how to replace it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOk, before you trolls all rabidly defend RIM and jump on me with fingers pointed, yes I dropped the phone and it's all my fault, I didn't stick the phone in a vault until my protective case arrived, etc. etc. there I said it, now you don't have to. Last night around 9pm, I picked up a gorgeous blackberry bold 9700 from walmart for cheap money, an upgrade. 13 hours later, I dropped it, tried to catch it with my foot, and like skipping a rock across a pond, kicked it across my client's driveway full of sharp rocks, face down. Awesome. So now I have these scratches in my screen. Superficial maybe, but even though the LCD itself is perfectly fine (all my pixels are in good order), I have to spend $130+shipping to buy a new LCD unit, just because there's no separate screen cover anymore? That's what it seems like after checking the parts sites.
I noticed right away that the screen on the 9700 is right up front instead of set back behind an extra piece of plastic. I can press pretty hard on my curve 8310's screen without getting funky colors out of the LCD (I think I'd break the screen cover before the LCD would even flinch), but the 9700's screen is very sensitive to pressure.I don't know why RIM would brilliantly cover up their LCD units with hard, replaceable screen covers for years, one of the nicest features of their rugged phones, I thought, then go and do this to me. Yes, you heard right, it's all about me.Any comments? Suggestions? Tell me I'm wrong and show me how I CAN replace the screen cover without replacing the LCD unit? After scouring parts sites, doesn't look like I can.
First off, my BlackBerry Curve 8320's trackball broke, and the little gold tape is GONE, if I buy a new trackball set, will it work properly?
