IPhone :: 4S Earphone Volume Controls Not Working After IOS 5.1 Update
Mar 13, 2012
I just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 5.1 yesterday, and now I noticed that the volume control buttons on the earphone are not working. I can still listen to music and the pause button is still working. Is it caused by the update?
First I thought that the song I was paying was the problem (error in recording), secondly I tried to find the balance between the left and the right channel (Settings-General-Accessibility under the heading Hearing). I started to slide the bar to maximize the volume first Left, then Right. In my case the volume was much higher on the right channel (microphone installed on the cord). To eliminate a potential song error I doubled checked the same mp3 song in another player and it worked out fine. So, the last thing I could do was to buy a new set of Apples earphones. I unpacked them and then it worked better for a few weeks time but now I'm back where I started. Same problem.
My external speaker doesn't work for notifications or ipod audio. It only vibrates no matter what type of notification sound is selected. Incoming calls come through the speaker ok. I cannot control the volume with the side volume buttons unless I am in the Settings>Sounds screen and if I move the volume on the touch screen first. Of course the mute button on the side upper left above the voume controls is not on. Also, the setting under Settings>Sounds>"Change with Buttons" is "ON". I have reset the iPhone and the nothing has changed. I know the volume buttons work because when I plug the earphones in, it will control the volume up or down.it is a software issue or setting.
I have a Lumia 900 with Rogers (Canada), post update. I can't seem to hear well when earphones/earbuds are connected, even with the volume at 30/30 (I can hear a bit at 30/30 when there is no ambient noise, but can barely hear anything when I try to use the device at the gym). The spearkers are nice and loud when no earphones are connected. I've tried with 3 different earphones (including the ones that came with the phone) that all have the same problem. I didn't have this problem with my previous Samsung Focus.
So recently i noticed on my fairly new Xperia Z3, that the call sound volume went extremely low. Since all other sounds from the upper speaker work normally and on normal volume (media, ringtone, notifications), I'm guessing it has nothing to do with hardware.I have read the other support replies and ''solutions'', and i have tried a fair amount of them, but none worked.
A few days ago, I connected my X6 to my car radio system, which went along with some cracking. Since then the volume of any voice played via headset or earphone is too low while music continues to play at regular volume. Putting my phone back to factory settings didn't help. Do I have to go for a hard reset?
I just simply haven't been able to figure out a couple of things:
1) When I dial a number there is an annoying beep when I press the call button. I can't figure out how to disable it.
2) I can't seem to "lock" the ring volume controls. I set it for a low volume ring but somehow it keeps resetting itself to ring loud. How do I keep the ring volume at the level I set it? TIA.
i bought the new iphone 4s last 2 weeks. but now my earphone damage. i can hear the person online voice but they can't hear me. i suspect my mic is not working how to solve this?
I have a Motorola Atrix 4G (US) and was wondering if it would be possible to show the lock screen from pressing up or down on the volume buttons. It worked for my previous phones and would be a great alternative for this phone.
Referring to Nokia 5800, is their a simpler way to access the Volume/Ringer controls other than going into Profiles? I read somewhere about being able to create a Shortcut in my Apps to these functions.
I have an iPhone 4s (Verizon). I had recently purchased what was described as an OEM screen plus LCD after I had cracked my factory screen. After replacing the screen and LCD such features as the side volume controls, vibrate switch, and proximity switch (dimming after accepting a call) have stopped working. I double checked to see that all of the connectors were pushed on correctly and they were. Is it possible this may not be an OEM screen and causing the problem or is there a piece of the hardware that I may have damaged that controls all of these functions (i.e. motherboard)?
A volume setting is stored for playback through the iPhone's speaker, and another for when earphones are plugged in.
I have noticed since updating to iOS 5.1 that the volume slider in the Music app sometimes displays the "speaker" level during "earphone" playback when switching between the two modes.
Although the slider displays the incorrect volume level, the playback is at the earphone setting's volume, not the displayed volume.
N.B. I have an iPhone 3GS, and the performance of the Music app has degraded with each iOS update; this seems to be due to the core software growing more complex. It is possible that there is just a very long delay between loading the Music app, it recognising the earphones are plugged in, and the volume slider widget being updated accordingly. I will report back with more clarification after more observation.
I've just came back from Vodafone with a brand new Nokia E72 and very pleased with it, however I've installed Spotify and streamed some music from it, it sounds fine when using the bundled earphones but if I use my iPod earphones or Skullcandy's it sounds awful like its only coming out of one ear, can anyone help?
I recently bought a new nokia n8. And the headphone which comes with my mobile (wh-701) is working good. But recently the right earphone is stop working. Is there any way to repair it or change with nokia care. My mobile is in under warranty.
after updating my phone to .587 earphone speaker is not working. i am unable to hear the voice while calling but the same is heard while it is in speaker. while having service test ie *#*#service#*#* the earphone speaker is working fine
It Stutter a lot when I talk So I buy an App called DAF Professional to To reduce my Stutter but I must use EarPhone with this App when I make a phone call.
The problem is When I make a call in my Xperia Z2 the EarPhone always Stop working? How can I enable using my EarPhone During the call, in order to use this program.
My xperia phone's jack isn't working. When I put my earphone into the jack, I get no sound except a buzzing sound. My earphones work fine on other phones; the speakers on the phone work fine as well and other earphones also give a buzzing sound when used on the phone.
I have an HTC One M9 and a pair of HTC headphones which should allow me to skip back and forward between music tracks.
However, this function does not work and pressing the skip forward or back buttons only turns the volume up or down. I have actually tried several different brands of headphones and experienced the same issue.
Headphones with remote - the remote controls don't work. Dr. Dre Beats earbuds that say "designed for Android" - mic/headphones work, play/pause and volume buttons do not
The music controls on my N8's earphones have suddenly stopped responding when playing music. Actually, ALL the keys aren't working, Volume, answer call and forth. Tried changing the settings under Accessory settings without any luck.Really frustrating to have to unlock your phone just to skip a song.
Ever since the latest update last weak the pause play button on my bluetooth headset and the pause play button on my earbuds have not worked on my Samsung Galaxy s5.
