IPhone :: 4 Won't Sync/recharge, Only Charges Silently When Off?
Jun 10, 2012
So basically, my Iphone 4 started to have problems after 5.1.1. 1. It won't be recognized on windows or itunes. USB drivers are all updated, used different cables, different ports, different computers, latest itunes software.2. It does not charge or even show a charging screen when plugged into the wall socket. Tried different cables, different adapters and different outlets.3. ONLY charges when I specifically turn off the iphone and EXACTLY plug it in when the swirling circle appears. This charging process is "silent" where it does not show a charging screen. I must periodically check to see if phone is charged up to 100% by turning it on again visa versa.
I have tried a replacement battery, replacement dock connector, cleaned out my dock connector with toothbrush. I have tried soft reset, hard reset for a good 40 times. Took it to the apple store/genius bar and they are clueless as to how to fix it. For some reason, I can't seem able to enter DFU mode as it will not allow me, as well as do a factory reset as I CAN'T get this linked up to itunes.
Installed the Ovi Suite today (2.2), but when I start it I see the window for about 20 sec, then it silently disappears. So I can't manage my E71 (mostly today I just wanted to load the Ovi maps), or do anything.
I've uninstalled all the previous stuff (Nokia Map Update, PC Suite etc), and reinstalled the Ovi Suite a couple of times, but Ovi still drops out.
Proud owner of a Photon for a few days now. For the most part, aside from some minor glitches, I LOVE this phone so far. It's great. However I have one big problem. At work I have a decent 4G signal at my desk. My prior Evo got 1-2 (out of 3) bars and stayed connected all day with zero problems. My Photon connects to 4G just fine, but if I don't keep sending traffic over the network to the point where the 4G goes into what I assume is power save mode -- where the icon shows ZZZ instead of signal strength -- it will often lose connection in a silent way. What I mean is that I can then attempt to use apps, etc and the 4G will not transfer data, but still thinks it's connected. I'm not sure yet whether or not it stays in ZZZ mode or if the icon shows signal strength again, but I know for sure apps do not transfer data. For example when I listen to music, ScrobbleDroid starts queueing messages instead of sending them, etc. Also, GMail and IMAP push stop working, so I stop receiving email notifications. That is a BIG problem for me.
The problem goes away immediately if I either shut off 4G, or toggle 4G (turn it off then on right away). However, it will happen again quite soon after 4G goes back into ZZZ mode. This is a stock, non-rooted phone.System version: 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en.USAndroid version: 2.3.4aseband version: N_01.28.07RWebtop version: WT-1.2.0-160Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 dnt648@fl36bld222Build number: 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6ERI version: 6PRL version: 51083
I have an iphone 3gs 32gb that won't recharge. I thought initially that it would be a battery issue but here's the weird thing. When the battery was replaced the Iphone did turn on and function normally but when the battery ran out, because it wont charge with either the wall or just USB charge, the same problem happened...no way of charging it.
My 4s won't come on or recharge. I've tried to reset it by holding down the power and home keys, but nothing happens. When I plug it in to recharge it, nothing happens. It remains powerless for days at a time, then just randomly comes back on. The last time, 5 days passed before it came back on. Any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Has anyone had this problem and resolved it?
When I plug it in to recharge my iPhone 3G shows a plug, a plus sign, and the lightning bolt below a red level indicator on the battery screen. It won't start up. I have plugged it into many different Apple recharge cables, plugs and outlets. It doesn't seem to recharge anymore. Fortunately this iPhone was replaced by a new iPhone, but I was planning to use it for audio books, alarm clock and camera. Any way to get it to recharge again?
My Iphone 3gs after recharging screen is completely blank? Tried to resync under store? No service on this iphone does it have service to start working again?
I have recent purchased Iphone 4S by replacing Iphone 4. 4S heats up easily and recharging required min. 2 times a day or more then Iphone 4 providing bluetooth is not on.
1. Happily using my new iPhone, I leave it down for 3 hours while I have dinner, pick ut up and its dead, balck screen
2. Recharge it all night, nothing when I plugged it in and still as dead this morning as last night. When I hold down the On/Off buttion I get an empty battery indicator on the screen
Feels like the battery just gave up and died, that would explain 1) phone dieing and 2) phone not re-charging
My IPhone 4 has gone dead suddenly. it was fine durng the day up to 5 mins before it went dead. It does not even charge by the cable which works with the IPad. What must I do?
I would like to ask how it is with the charging battery in iphone 5s. I mean to charge so as not to damage the batteries and ensure a long service life. I've heard that charging the battery to full (100%) is not good and that charging all night is harmful to the battery. How is it really like to load to avoid damaging the battery.
I was just looking at Bell's rate plan promotions for the iPhone 4 and I noticed it said
From July 30 to September 30th get 6GB of data for only $30 per month with unlimited Wi-Fi in over 750 locations.
Now I was thinking is this a some sort of marketing tactic, to make some people think you normally really do have to pay, or do you actually normally have to pay?
So i went to the apple store because my phone was not charging and they told that it was water damage but it was not because i made a proffesional check my iphone. he than said that it was the thing were you plug the chrager to charge.after all of that my iphone 4 started charging when it was off but when i turn it back on it would not chrage, now it only charges when its off and not on. it even doesnt show the chraging sign on the statues bar at the top
A colleague mentioned they have been charged for using FaceTime by their UK provider? It got me thinking, although it uses wifi to carry out the call, it initiates as a standard phone call so even when it switches to wifi does it still maintain that cellular connection and then the call comes out of your inclusive minutes or charges you? It got me thinking because if the new iPod does get FaceTime, with no cellular connection they obviously cant initiate the call in the same way the iPhone 4 does. Which then led me to think if you just go straight to the FaceTime button in the contacts app and use that does that go straight to a FaceTime call and therefore does not do anything cellular?
Last night my iPhone 3G stopped being recognized by my laptop. I can only charge it with the USB wall charger which ***** because now I can't restore or put music on my phone anymore. This is. Second hand 3G but the same thing happened to my old iPhone.
I am running firmware 4.2.1. My iTunes is up to date and I'm on windows 7.
Just bought myself the 5800 XM navigator edition. How long does it normally take to charge the battery for the first time? It seems to be fully charged after only 3 hours (though it was already a bit charged when i bought the phone)
I know the iPhone battery isn't that great and most people on here charge over night. I charge over night, at work, later when I get home, then again at night ( prob down to 60%). should I limit the number of charges to save the long term life of the battery or can the battery take it?
My 32gb iPhone 5 died on me and I plugged it in so it can charge and nothing happened for the longest time. After several hours it was charged to 35% and it kept charging really slow. The phone would also get really warm, more warm if I tried using it while it was charging. When I would unplug it, it would die really fast or would jump down 10-20%, with little to no use at all, in a few minutes and when I plug it in it jumps up to the percent it was at and then continue charging very slowly. I'm using a wall socket with the apple chord and the apple power adapter, and I have turned it on and off. me figure out what is wrong and how I can possibly fix it?Â
I can't find this similar problem in other forums, I don't have time to drive to downtown to ask an apple employee and since it is over a year they won't do anything to fix it anyway, can't chat with customer service because I have to pay 20 bucks and it is not worth it. Apple needs to make better products and get better customer service.
I am using bold 9700 and bold 9000 at the same time. My bold 9000 was os 4.6 since the OS 5.0 is available. I updated the os 5.0.0.414. However, the battery seems like an issue for me. It get hot so easily and the battery level drop off very fast even I didnt really use it. One day I need to charge it for 3 times. May I know what is the problem about this? Is this due to the OS or what?
