How can be sure if my iPhone 3G battery is dead or just needs a recharge?
Info:
iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2, Version is 4.2.1
1. Happily using my new iPhone, I leave it down for 3 hours while I have dinner, pick ut up and its dead, balck screen
2. Recharge it all night, nothing when I plugged it in and still as dead this morning as last night. When I hold down the On/Off buttion I get an empty battery indicator on the screen
Feels like the battery just gave up and died, that would explain 1) phone dieing and 2) phone not re-charging

I have a problem with my tour.after I get a low battery notification and the radio turns off I charge my battery and then afterwards I can't send SMS.I can send and receive emails, receive SMS and surf the web, but until I do a battery pull I cant send them.Seems kind of weird that this would be normal. After the battery is charged, what is the purpose of preventing me from sending? Is there a fix?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using bold 9700 and bold 9000 at the same time. My bold 9000 was os 4.6 since the OS 5.0 is available. I updated the os 5.0.0.414. However, the battery seems like an issue for me. It get hot so easily and the battery level drop off very fast even I didnt really use it. One day I need to charge it for 3 times. May I know what is the problem about this? Is this due to the OS or what?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have read the helpful advice posted on this subject. But it does not help. I have a Bold 9000 and accidently I let it run completely and utterly dead. Now whatever I do, I cannot start it. I have plugged it into a charger, I bought a car lead because I have found that this gives a boost, and I have bought a new battery.
Whatever I do, it does not work. Unlike previous writers, when I plug it into any of the charging sources I do not even get a red light, absolutely nothing. When I attach it to the computer nothing is recognised. I am sure that it has not been physically damaged, it has merely run absolutely flat.I am stuck in a holiday destination. Can anyone advise me?
My mobile battery started to drain within seconds after recharge . The mobile also restart often. Had given it for service in Bangalore. Workorder no.SE312AT210964. The service and after sales customer support is so pathetic. They kept mobile for 3 weeks and returned it saying battery is not in stock. How to escalate this ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an iphone 3gs 32gb that won't recharge. I thought initially that it would be a battery issue but here's the weird thing. When the battery was replaced the Iphone did turn on and function normally but when the battery ran out, because it wont charge with either the wall or just USB charge, the same problem happened...no way of charging it.

My 4s won't come on or recharge. I've tried to reset it by holding down the power and home keys, but nothing happens. When I plug it in to recharge it, nothing happens. It remains powerless for days at a time, then just randomly comes back on. The last time, 5 days passed before it came back on. Any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Has anyone had this problem and resolved it?

When I plug it in to recharge my iPhone 3G shows a plug, a plus sign, and the lightning bolt below a red level indicator on the battery screen. It won't start up. I have plugged it into many different Apple recharge cables, plugs and outlets. It doesn't seem to recharge anymore. Fortunately this iPhone was replaced by a new iPhone, but I was planning to use it for audio books, alarm clock and camera. Any way to get it to recharge again?

So basically, my Iphone 4 started to have problems after 5.1.1. 1. It won't be recognized on windows or itunes. USB drivers are all updated, used different cables, different ports, different computers, latest itunes software.2. It does not charge or even show a charging screen when plugged into the wall socket. Tried different cables, different adapters and different outlets.3. ONLY charges when I specifically turn off the iphone and EXACTLY plug it in when the swirling circle appears. This charging process is "silent" where it does not show a charging screen. I must periodically check to see if phone is charged up to 100% by turning it on again visa versa.
I have tried a replacement battery, replacement dock connector, cleaned out my dock connector with toothbrush. I have tried soft reset, hard reset for a good 40 times. Took it to the apple store/genius bar and they are clueless as to how to fix it. For some reason, I can't seem able to enter DFU mode as it will not allow me, as well as do a factory reset as I CAN'T get this linked up to itunes.
I would like to ask how it is with the charging battery in iphone 5s. I mean to charge so as not to damage the batteries and ensure a long service life. I've heard that charging the battery to full (100%) is not good and that charging all night is harmful to the battery. How is it really like to load to avoid damaging the battery.

Just bought myself the 5800 XM navigator edition. How long does it normally take to charge the battery for the first time? It seems to be fully charged after only 3 hours (though it was already a bit charged when i bought the phone)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have already read enough of this great forum post, I hope in the future to helpbeginners like me, one day we had to IOS (formerly had a Galaxy S2) and now we are more than comfortable with my 4s!I have the cell phone constantly charging, either in the Dock, when I go to bed, Through The cable in my university (when I'm in class or on the computer in the Library), this because the phone if consuming battery (I have the iOS 5.0.1) and hate running out of battery (no phone) when I'm away from home. Then the doubt (I've already searched in many forums) is whether this is detrimental tothe battery of the phone, or simply when the iPhone detects that is loaded, just stops receiving load and nothing happens:

My iphone 4s battery was dead, so I replaced a battery bought over internet. Now when I charge the phone ( using usb cable plugged to the power outlet on the wall) on right top corner it displays "battery is charged" (battery icon with a plug) but % of charge remains at 5%.

So I returned my iPhone 4 yesterday and got shamefully put down by apple with the white announcement lol. But regardless. My 3GS has terrible battery life. Like really bad. I've barely used it today from 10am and it's at 40 percent and that's literally mostly asleep. My question is , is there any way to salvage a bad battery? By using a specific charge cycle to maybe boost it up a bit? I just need a temporary fix while I use this phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work! Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.
Is there a way on the 9530 to simulate a battery pull without actually removing and reinstalling the battery?
