All of the sudden, my iphone4 won't connect to the wifi at work. My computer is connecting to wifi with no problem. The signal appears to be strong.
There is no error message. When I select the network, the check mark that normally appears, does not, and there is a constant spinning and spinning in its place.
I did choose "Forget this network" and rebooted the iphone, and tried again, but am having the same result.
I have a new S6 on Verizon and am trying to connect to the WiFi network at my office. I'm able to connect to the WiFi at my home, but that's the only other one I've tried.
The WiFi at work uses a dual-step authentication, where you connect to the WiFi and then browse to an internet site, where you are first directed to a page where I must accept their Terms & Conditions. However, this page is never shown on my phone - the browser just said there is no network.
In fact, when I click on Connect on the WiFi entry for my office network, it says "Connecting..." and then nothing. No WiFi icon in the status bar or any error is shown.
I've shown this to our IT folks and they have no answer - they simply state that everyone else is able to connect (although I have the only S6 it seems).
I've read through the WiFi troubleshooting guide I've seen in other posts, but nothing seemed to work.
I've rebooted the phone, "forgot" the wifi and re-created it - nothing works.
The phone is running Android 5.1.1
I've contacted Verizon support and they suggested that I do a factory reset on the phone, but I hate to go to such an extreme step. Is there any way I can debug the issue to determine why it is not connecting on the WiFi?
I've had my Atrix for a couple of months now and I noticed this problem back within the first 30 days but thought it was an issue with our network at work..ie the wrong password. After getting our tech guys to set the right password I have tried to connect to the WiFi at work but it gets to the point of obtaining an IP address and disconnects. I know the password is right because my co workers newish laptop will connect and another coworkers Iphone 3GS will connect.
My Atrix will connect at home, Applebees guest and the local hospitals guest connection. The work connection is secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK according to my phone. It's a small work place and really the only person that would every use the connection would be me and honestly I'm a little peeved that I can't get it to connect. The routers are probably about 3 years old so I'm not sure what that would have on them but they should work just fine with this phone. I can't really log into the routers and change anything there because of some other things that are networked into the system. Are there any setting I can change in my phone that might force it to work?
So, I used to be able to listen to music at work without using my data plan. I could just connect to the guest wifi. Selecting the "Click to connect" would bring up the web page where we log in and I was up and running. Now when I select "Click to connect", I just get a big lock with a cross through it. Selecting "Use network as is" doesn't do anything.
Did the update and now my iphone 4s wifi does not connect to my home wifi. It just sits there with the little circle going round and round. My ipad3 updated and works fine...
All devices surfing wirelessly on Airport Express.Replaced Airport Express with Time Capsule.Problem: Wife's iPhone4 (5.1.1) can not surf on wifi provided by my time capsule. All my other devices (iMac, Mac Air, iPad and my iPhone) can. Wife's iPhone can surf on an unsecure network somewhere nearby in my apartment complex. (Which to me, rules out a hardware problem).
Steps taken: Tapped iPhone wifi On/Off multiple times with no change. "Forget this network" multiple times with no change. Reset iPhone Network Settings multiple times with no change. Restored iPhone using iTunes as New iPhone once with no change. (Since doing that, I have restored with back up of iPhone settings and data.) Powered Time Capsule on/off several times with no change. Turned wireless security off with no change. Security is back on. It is WPA 2 Personal with a lengthy password. I'm not getting the "incorrect password" msg. Renewed lease multiple times with no change.
Other indications: 3G is in upper left. Status wheel is spinning next to my network's name. On the initial "Settings" window, my network name is shown (as if it were connected. But tapping it and going to the "wifi networks" window shows the list of available networks with the status wheel spinning next to mine.) Tapping the blue arrow on my network name leads to the window that has "forget this network" at the top, and a list of blank fields: IP address, subnet mask, router and so on. DHCP is chosen, HTTP proxy is OFF. Sometimes, the top two fields (ip address and subnet mask) have values filled in, but the rest of the fields don't.
On my Time Capsule, as seen via Airport Utility (V5.5.3), 3 devices are shown as connected. Clicking this provides a listing. My wife's iPhone wi-fi address is listed. It's "rate" however is 1. My imac is 216 and my iphone is 65. BTW, iOS devices drop off the list when they go to sleep. No big deal there.
Back to Airport Utility, in the summary tab... status is normal, version is 7.6.1, wireless mode is "create a wireless network", security is "wpa/wpa2 personal", channel is 149 auto and 1 auto (I tried changing 1 to 11 with no change), connect using "ethernet" and finally my IP address begings with 76. 76.xxx.xxx.xxx
Moving to the "Wireless" tab of Airport utility... wireless mode is "create a wireless network", radio mode is auto, radio ch. selection is auto, wireless security is wpa/wpa2 personal, "remember password in keychain" is checked. Now Clicking on the "wireless network options" button..... 5ghz is not checked, country is USA, multicast rate is "low", t-mit power is "100%", WPA group key timeout is 1 day (it used to be 1 hour but this has made no change in the problem), "use wide channels" is not checked, "create a closed network" is not checked.
MAC access control is not enabled. But it was enabled previously and I added my devices by their Wi-Fi addresses one at a time until i decided to turn it off due to this problem. this resulted in no change with the problem.
Personally, I feel the prob lies with the DHCP and ip address and related fields, but I don't know enough about what their values should be in relation to my other devices to alter them on my own.
Droid Turbo (Android Version 5.1) - WIFI works fine at home and seems to work other places. I have been using it for months at work. Recently I cannot connect. Other people can still connect. I had the connection saved...but even tried deleting it and researching, but it won't locate the server.
For the last several weeks neither the WiFi nor the Bluetooth will turn on. When selecting to turn on WiFi is starts to turn on then stops and displays Error. About 75% of the time after attempting to turn on the WiFi the phone will reboot. I have factory reset the phone and the WiFi and Bluetooth will work once after the reset but once the phone sleeps neither WiFi nor Bluetooth will operate. This is even after a power down. I have checked my settings and can't find anything that would cause this.
Wifi don't work on 4GS, after I connected to my friend's shared network. The wifi on my 4GS couldn't find any wifi network, the search icon just kept on spinning, never stop. I tried reset network setting, still didn't work.
I got an iphone 4 yesterday and i am having trouble finding wifi spots.i went to a shopping center today and it had around 10 different wifi spots and i could only see one.
my 3 other friends has iphones (two have 3gs on has 4) and they could see and connect to them all fine. this is happening everywherealso i cant even see my home network unless i am standing right next to the router where as the other iphones can pick it up from upstairs or in the garden.is there anything i can do to change this like restoring or anything else? or is it faulty?
Cannot connect to Wi-Fi any longer. The networks are strong and selected, but the phone continues to use 4G. This is the case in my house, someone else's house and at a major university. My iPad and Mac Air are having no trouble. I can use the university VPN at the university, but even that kicks out at random.
I have an Time Capsula working as the router. The Macs, PCs, Printer and iPads connects fine. It is the iPhone the wont connect. It has been like this for a while, but I thought it was going to fix itself.
why wont my iphone connect to wifi?.. i have already reset my network settings and made sure that i am entering the right password. my ipod touch connect just fine but my iphone wont. even my roomates iphone will connect.
found my old i phone it was not working just cam up with apple sigh taken it to phone man he got it all working but now is saying no celliar network to connect to wifi .and will not connect to my sky wifi but my other iphones 3S AND 4S WILL
I'm trying to use an app that transfers files to the iphone via Wifi.Access is by entering the iphone's IP address and port into a web browser.I've seen quite a few apps that use this method, so it seems pretty standard.I've also used this method myself quite a while ago, but now can't seem to get it working. When I enter the iphone's IP address into the web browser, it just times out.Tried pinging the IP address from MSDOS from PC and get "Destination host unreachable."
Packets sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss)
PC can't connect to iphone at all.iphone is connected to Wifi okay and can access internet with no problems. Both PC and iphone are on same domain and subnet, ie. both 192.168.1.XX and 255.255.255.0.Tried disabling all firewalls and AV programs, Router sees connection of both PC and iphone with no problems. So both PC and iphone are on the same network and can connect to internet fine but can't connect to each other.iphone model is a 3G running OS 4.2.1, which is the latest version that my phone can use.
My phone stopped connecting to wifi. My husband has the same phone and his is working. It keeps spinning the "circle" and won't get a "check mark" to show it is connected
