i think i screwed up today as i forgot to put my new iphone 4 on the xray trey when i had to go through a metal detector at the airport. since i am very careful about my new device im afraid the magnets may have damage my phone. is it possible that they did? i havent discovered anything yet but i have this feeling it got slower and the camera quality has worsened.
View 15 RepliesI have an older Airport Extreme 802.11n, and have been quite happy with it. I just purchased an iPhone 5C, (refurbed from AT&T) and I've noticed I get poor WiFi reception on the porch. This is only about 38 feet away from the base station, although it is on the other side of the aluminum screen door. I still show two out of three bars, but web pages are very laggy compared to being in the same room as the router, and sometimes refuse to load.   My 2011 MBP doesn't have nearly as many problems.Â
I assume part of this is simply the fact that there's a much smaller antenna in my iPhone compared to a 17" MBP, but I'm wondering if I should be looking at the settings of my Airport; perhaps a better setup would work with the reception on my 5C.Â
I can't remember how or why I arrived at the settings I have now - it's been a while since I touched things. Â
Right now, under the "radio mode" drop down in the Airport Utility, (6.3.1) it's shows "802.11n only - (5Ghz) - 802.11b/g/n" with the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels set to "automatic".  The drop-downs are a little confusing, as I assume the Airport is still broadcasting in the 2.4GHz spectrum, as my first gen (2006, Core Duo) MacBook could still connect, and I don't believe it has a 5Ghz connection. Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a household with 3 iPhone 3GS, 1 iPhone 4S, iPad, MacBook, 3 Windows PCs. All can usually connect to the Airport Express WiFi network. However recently one iPhone 3GS phone stoped being able to connect to the Airport Express network. We tried resetting the iPhone 3GS to factory settings and this did not fix the issue. We eventually had the phone replaced under the insurance I have with our cellular provider.
Now the same iPhone has just started doing exactly the same thing again. The symptoms are that the iPhone 3GS, sees the Airport Express network, it requests the password. The user enters the password and the little radial spoked wheel rotates endlessly and the iPhone 3GS does not connect to the network. Now the WiFi IS working as I have a 3G/WiFi bridge on test called a WiBE and the phone in question CAN connect to this using WPA/WPA2.
I have rebooted the Airport Extreme and the Airport Express network extenders several times as well as the phone, but it does not make any difference. This iPhone 3GS does not like the Airport Extreme network. I cannot believe I have a second faulty handset weeks after we had it replaced. Anyway it is not faulty as it successfully connects to a different WiFi network without difficulty.
On the logic board of a 3g and 3gs (i am not sure about the other models) there is a golden coloured tab that sticks out and when the board is in the housing it makes contact with the chrome bezel. I was wondering what the job of this little part is and what the implications would be if it did not do its job properly.

I need some app to detect which app/service is causing the Wakelocks so that I can take action. I cannot root due to restrictions on my corporate apps and they will stop working after root, which doesn't work. So I am looking for some app which can show wakelocks when I am not rooted. Previously on Nexus 5 I had used 'Wakelock Detector' app, which had ADB workaround to make the app work even if your are not rooted. But unfortunately after Marshmallow update it stopped working.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThe motion detector trigger is no longer working after my ICS update on my Droid Razr. Before that I had battery extender operating with no issues - it turned off background data and syncing when the screen was dimmed plus there was no movement. After, the battery extender will trigger every time my display goes off, ignoring the motion detector. Or other times it won't trigger at all, even when sitting on a flat unmoving surface. I've tried disabling and re-enabling. I've tried clearing the cache. I've deleted the rule and redone it several times. Sometimes I can get it to work if I shake the phone vigorously before place it firmly down, but not always. Before the update to ICS, it had the right sensitivity and worked every time. Currently I'm running Smart Actions version 3.1.5.1.2.
Is there any way to make this work again? It's such a shame to lose it, but I don't like having the battery extender kick in every time the screen goes off (as, if it times out while I'm looking at it, then I lose all my data while using the phone).
Been trying to set up some rules based on recomendations from this vid url...where they suggest using the Smart Action trigger for "Motion Detector" to save battery, and which looks pretty useful!However, I have a UK version of the RAZR and the Motion Detector feature does not seem to be enabled! Why is that? Is there a way of enabling it? Whilst I am on this topic I was also wondering if there is a way to restore the Smart Action Samples, as I managed to delete a couple of them accidentally.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ATRIX 2 at end of October and have spent days trying to make WIFI connection work.I could get to internet via cellular 3/4 G but although the phone would show the WIFI network and know it was there it wouldn't connect.It would try and then say "Disconnected".Finally, through reading tons of blog entries on different sites, I pieced together a solution I wanted to pass on to others.I have an Airport Extreme router.It was necessary to enter the MAC Address from my phone into Airports setup using Airport Utility. Then I also had to explicitly choose a Radio Mode that did NOT include the "N" option. Most options are hidden (for some bizarre unkown reason) so when clicking on the Radio Mode field in Airport Utility Wireless Section, hold down the "Option" key (at least on MacBook...maybe Control on Windows, but then you prob don't have an Airport router).This brings up a bunch of Radio options not shown by default.Choose one with no "N". Then be sure the Enable Auto IP" is checked "ON" under the Wireless Settings/Advanced section.Once this was done, have full strength connection and blazing fast.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDue to its grey colour, the keys don't create a strong contrast and they are hard to read in some conditions when light is coming from a certain direction because the keypad backlight come out to soon. Especially indoor I can't read any of the keys. I'm really disappointed when after I installed the latest software upgrade this problem still exist. Is it possible to "turn off" the ambient light sensor that I'm supposing causes this problem? Have you same issue? Some workaround or fix available?

Just in 3+ weeks USB port metal shield in phone was ruptured from phone circuit board and metal holding came out with the cable. Board was not damaged as I could get USB working by keeping cable in manually in right position but as it was not secured it stopped working as soon as phone moved even slightly. Using Nokia Comes with Music/Ovi store during Xmas heavily I connected/disconnected usb 200+ times in this short time frame.
Nokia repair shop took the phone for repairs for over 5 weeks and surprised by a billed (40 Euros) statement that it can't be repaired satisfactorily. It's not within Nokia limited warranty terms and I should by a new phone! I can't complain as consumer as I bought phone for my company and can't use my private insurance to cover replacement. As I bought it via an operator I'm wondering whose Quality Assurance I should now complain. As a telecoms consultant I've advised several equipment manufacturers on quality assurance but this really puzzles me.
I have been reading some conflicting stuff online. Some people are saying that you must be touching the metal side rails of the phone for the scanner to read a fingerprint and that's why people with cases on are having trouble. Other people are saying your finger just needs to touch the little metal edge of the button on the back of the phone for it to work. I held my phone by the plastic top and bottom and my fingerprint unlocked it perfectly..I wasn't touching any of the metal side rails. My case hasn't arrived yet so I haven't tested it with a case on.

The only way to turn it back on is by removing and replacing the battery. I have many apps installed, but this has happened with a fully loaded phone and a recently formatted phone, so that's not the issue. Any type of metal surface causes the phone to turn off. Some examples: inside my desk drawer, on a metal table at a restaurant, on top of a napkin dispenser.I reiterate: this has happened when the phone is brand new, untouched, and when the phone is fully loaded. It also ONLY happens on metal, and has never once turned off while sitting on any other surface.
