IPhone :: 4 Has A Black Screen And Gets Warm When Charging?
Jul 2, 2012
My iphone 4 has a black screen and gets warm when charging. also, the battery runs out unusually fast. I can still receive calls etc and can see a 'backlight' come on behind the black screen when buttons are pressed, but I can not see anything on the screen. I have tried restoring the phone from recovery mode in iTunes but this does not fix the problem. If it were the screen that needs replacing then would the phone get warm?
Until recently my 4S worked great but now it gets warm in my pocket and loses its charge very quickly--even in standby mode. This occurs whether I use the iPhone or not. I closed all apps and recharged the iPhone several times today but the same problem repeats itself.
I got a new iphone 4 yesterday because my old one had a spring break so the power button wouldn't work. The new phone worked fine for most of the day but last night showed a message saying I needed to plug the phone into itunes again and restore it. I have now tried to restore the phone on two separate computers and both times error message number 1 has shown up with a note saying that apple can not process my request. I am wondering what the number means so that I can fix it and restore my phone. As it is now its useless. Its just a black screen with a charger picture and an arrow telling me to connect it to itunes.
When charging my iPhone and get a text (or any other activity takes place), the screen is greyish and dim, and if I slide across to unlock the screen, it goes dimmer and eventually fades away to black. I then have to lock the screen and unplug my phone to be able to read the text or get to whatever I need.
have this phone for the last 8 months now , I noticed a black spot on the screen (near the profile icon) just 2 days back, immediately did a hard reboot (pulling the battery when the phone is ON) , but the black spot remained on all the screens , the spot became smaller and smaller till yesterday morning ,but when i charged my phone again (overnite) ,the black spot again 'grew' back this morning , this is very peculiar and i am unable to get a handle on this.
I got an iphone 4s 64GB a month back as a gift and it has got applecare+ protection plan as well. I stay in India. One of my friend gifted me the phone from US.
Problem: The screen is too warm(yellow tint). I found it only after comparing my iphone with the iphones which are in the local stores. The in-store demonstartor told me that the phone can be replaced in the country of purchase.
I updated my N97, and after that my phone did not work properly, the old version was 2.0 and the new is 2.1, the charging light did not work and i get black screen when i turn my phone on.
i was wondering if this is normal, i had my phone for like 3 weeks now since thanksgiving, after 10 minutes of use the top part of the screen where you listen to gets very warm and the back part where the camera does too, i was wondering how could i fix this and is my phone defected? i haven't tried any longer because i don't want my phone to fry up
I seem to notice the transition from a cooler color to warmer when going from bright light to lower light. I especially notice it with white backgrounds or my keyboard, which is light gray.
I am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads. What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). Pardon the audio - my kids were watching Spongebob Squarepants so you might want to turn the audio all the way down! I guess my question is two-fold:
1) can this in fact be the result of a virus? 2) if this isn't due to a virus, what is it due to?
I have a iphone 3g and I am having big problems accessing my apps. Everytime I go to use a app e.g facebook or ebay the scrieen goes black and then goes back to the home screen. It also seems to be taking forever to got to make a phone call. What can I do as one of the main reasons for getting this phone was using the apps
I accepted the update for ios and now my phone is going from black screen to apple screen. I have tried turning it off and holding both buttons NOTHING! I also hooked it up to my computer and went onto iTunes and it does not show as a devise?
I got an iPhone 5s what the screen is totally black, but the touch screen and other functions are still working, has been replaced the LCD but it keep doing the same way.
Anyone notice this? It's getting really warm doing simple web browsing and settings, etc. (no games). It never got warm doing that kind of stuff before.
FedEx finally just made my day and dropped off this absolutely stunning phone. The display truly does have to be seen to be appreciated. But has anyone else noticed that the phone gets kind of warm on the back? It's warmer than I remember my 3G getting, that's for sure. I'm not doing anything all that intensive either--all I've done is setup my email accounts, set wallpapers, moved around apps, etc.
I should not that it is plugged in though. Maybe that's the reason for the warmth, who knows. I'll continue to experiment and see what happens.
My iPhone 3G gets warm/hot after a few minutes of use, anyone else? im talking about just scrolling thru springboard apps and checking your text then locking your phone, and repeating this again a lil bit afterwards.
I know that the older iphones would heat up under heavy use but my iphone 4 seems to stay warm constantly. Do you think it's because of the multitaksing/quick app switching that is going on in the background? I have location services turned off.Anyone else experiencing the same?
I'm sitting in an air conditioned building waiting for a concert to start and my iPhone feels very warm to the touch on the right side where the battery is. Is this a normal thing? I never experienced this with my 3GS.
I just replaced my iPhone 3GS and I noticed that the LCD is a little warmer then the one I had. How does your iPhone look? has anybody else noticed this? Does anybody have pics?
I was just comparing the iP4's display to my 3GS and it seems a lot warmer [Yellowish Tint] than the 3GS!! I remember when the 3GS was launched, many of us got very warm displays! Luckily, mine came with a bad GPS chip and the exchange unit had the nice *cool* display with a bluish tint!
I wonder if the first batch of iPhones are plagued with warm 'yellowish' screens ?This is not to be confused with the yellow patches people are reporting, which is a defect. In my case, the entire screen is warm, not defected! How is the display/tint on your iP4 ? How is compared to your 3G or 3GS, if you have one around ?
Hello, i got iphone 4s white 16gb. My question is it normal for the phone to get warm when i text or use the net on it? (on back side of the phone, sim area) And by doin this my battery gets used more quicker then my old iphone 4? Should i get it replaced or its a norm with this phone?
My iPhone 4s gets very very warm, to the point where I can't hold it for a long time. It's worse when its charging but I've noticed it when I've not used it for an hour or so. I don't use a case and everything else seems to be working okay. Is it normal or should I take it too an Apple store?
Now when I am on Facebook and just surfing the web for like a coulpe of minutes it gets warm were I can feel it not super warm but pretty warm and I don't know why. I just want to know if it's only mine or dose others do this as we'll.
