View 10 RepliesI reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.
My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?
So I made a backup as I wanted to dirty flash PN again to change kernel. My phone bootlooped after I flashed PN and franco kernel. So i decided to restore my working backup..still boot looping... WHY?! this phone never successfully restores backups in my experience.

View 4 Replies View Relateddkotoric has realised this is due to using the double tap to sleep function on some launchers. Locking your device with that prevents the fingerprint scanner from allowing access for some reason. So today was my first full day with the 6P. It's a truly great device. A whole bunch of times though when I've come to unlock the device I've had to put in my pattern because it won't accept the fingerprint scanner.
The icon at the bottom of the lock screen that should be a fingerprint is just a lock symbol. If I then lock the phone again and reunlock it works as expected. Not sure if this is a software bug or some setting I've got wrong. Can't see a pattern for when it does it though. I've switched 'require pattern on restart' off which has made no difference.
I have a rooted nexus 5 running android 6.0 MRA58N. After I updated I couldn't set a lock pattern any more. I can access every area in settings accept the lock screen session. When I try to enter the lock screen session it gives me the "unfortunately, settings has stopped message."
View 4 Replies View RelatedI forgot my unlock pattern and I don't have my device in ADM ... But the bootloader is unlocked, so I think I can install any image I want, right? Could this be a way to get into my device? So any solution to unlock my device without doing a hard reset?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I flashed M p1 and then updated to p2 without need of root. Now I just needed that for a particular reason and I used NRT root option, but it was too late when I realized that it was flashing the stable version of SuperSU and would not work. Since then I've flashed 2.49 (beta) one that I read somewhere that should clean the files from previous installations, but it's not booting at all. Basically I want to keep the files on SD and applications. So, what should I choose? Deleting SuperSu files from Recovery? Flashing only System back? Any other method available for my scenario.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have gotten my phone back from repair, and it is now empty. Before I sent it, I backed up the SMS messages using the stock messages app. I stored the file on dropbox. Now, I am trying to restore the messages. So, I go to dropbox, and export the file to the SD Card in the phone. However, no matter where on the SD card I store the file, the messages app cannot find it to restore.
//Note that I now have no messages in my phone. Do I need to make some messages to produce the correct folder first?// (Edit: I did this, and it made no difference)
why the file cannot be found?
So I'm rooted on stock 2.66 what's the modifications I could make to enable it?

I have followed the unlocking and rooting guide, and as such I'm worried that updating OTA will break my root.
How can I correctly update to the latest firmware without losing root?
I having a problem when I plug my 6P into my iMac. Android File Transfer opens automatically but always gives me the error that my phone is locked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAndroid Marshmallow. I noticed that on my Moto X Pure (Style) before and also now on my Nexus 6P that whenever I charged it to 100% it won't say "Full" but instead "Charging on AC" still. On my Moto X before, the "Full" message will be displayed after 30 mins or so. However on my Nexus 6P now, it will take more than an hour for it to say "Full".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI flashed the recovery, rooted the device. Updated the build.prop. Then unrooted it, put back stock recovery and locked the bootloader. I was getting "Your device is corrupt" message on boot, however, it was able to boot. I have received the January security updates, but I am not able to install it. It proceeds through installation and during the restart it shows "Error". I have already tried clearing cache.
Is there anything I can do ? Is there any way to update build.prop without getting "Your device is corrput" message ?
I haven't done a factory reset yet but I would love to avoid it if possible.
I went to take a picture of the wife's newly decorated Christmas tree and the stock camera fails to fully start. It behaves as if it can not use the hardware. When I look at the back there is a small red light/laser that refuses to go out unless the phone is rebooted.
I've rebooted the phone a few times and tried Manual Camera and a couple others .. same behavior.
The phone is running 6.0.1 and is rooted.
Unlocking the bootloader of my nexus wiped clean the internal storage. Although I did not lose much but it made me realize that I should have a backup system in place where everything is being backed up on my home NAS on a daily scheduled basis. I am planning to buy Seagate 4 TB (STCG3000200) which will be connected to my router. now I am looking for a way where I can schedule a incremental dump or differential dump of my phone on a daily basis so I dont have to worry about the backups any more.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I was running screwd ROM with elementalX kernel. Everything was working great but I'm a long time DU user. Went to their G+ page flashed ROM. I had issues with it so I wiped and restored my backup of screwd ROM through TWRP. The first go around I selected to restore all partitions. It got stuck on the boot logo. Booted back into recovery and restored android again. This time I unchecked the vendor image box and restored the rest of the partitions. Worked like a charm.
View 7 Replies View Relatedon my previous phone (Xperia Z2) I can plug in to my computer via USB and copy files to/from the internal storage or SD card. When I plug my Nexus 6P in to the computer the same way, I just get an empty folder. I can't see all the files on the internal Android file system. Is this normal?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI like to backup my phone with TWRP. I backup everything except for system image and vendor image. After restoring the backup I made and booting to the lock screen (I have enter pin to boot disabled), I have to put in my pin and am told that my pin is wrong. The only way to fix this is to factory reset.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried to create a backup with TWRP of PureNexus the 29M build with EX kernel and it has given me an error.

I was running Pure Nexus and decided I would install Chroma today. I made a full backup in recovery with TWRP. I then installed Chroma and Gapps. Upon booting it told me I needed to update my vendor image. I couldn't remember how I did that the last time so I decided to just go back to my Pure Nexus and restore it. When I tried I got this error: "E: Cannot restore System -- mounted read only". How to fix this so I can restore that backup? I've searched and didn't find a solution. Also, couldn't find exactly how to flash the update vendor.img. Should have written all this down when I did it back in November.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a chronic rom flasher and repairing my Bluetooth devices every time is getting extremely tiring. So, I did a little researching and found out that titanium backup can backup and restore Bluetooth parings. However, my question is, what do I backup? What's the name of the system app that I need to backup?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Titanium Backup and my backup folder used to be a USB-drive I mounted with Stickmount.
Now, with Android 6, Stickmount no longer works for me and the built-in USB-OTG mount takes over and mounts the USB drive to /mnt/media_rw/SOMEFOLDER.
But with Titanium Backup, I can't access this folder (folder chooser has no permission to move into this folder).
So, is there a possibility to access the USB drive in another way or do I have to do backups to the internal storage and move it to the USB drive manually?
I like to flash different ROMs, sometimes 3 or 4 per week, sometimes 3-4 per day ... I usually come back to a "daily driver" (currently Chroma) after trying new ROMs - but I always have a Nandroid of my daily driver I can return to.
I know that downloading apps and setting them up is the nature of the beast when flashing new ROMs, but is there a quicker way to restore all your apps and settings? I have Titanium Backup (pro) installed and have backed up all my apps I have customized settings for, the rest are just left as default. I also have TWRP manager (pro), but it asks you to individually install each app and is almost quicker to just let Google choose which ones to download and restore all the apps upon setup. I've never used TIBU to restore more than my backed up app settings, does it ask you to install each app as it goes through them too? Is Titanium the quickest way or is there another way?
