View 2 RepliesSo I made a backup as I wanted to dirty flash PN again to change kernel. My phone bootlooped after I flashed PN and franco kernel. So i decided to restore my working backup..still boot looping... WHY?! this phone never successfully restores backups in my experience.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I understand this is a new feature in marsmallow, right? Your app data within reason being backed up into your google account. I'm considering whether to root the 6P to install Xposed, and obviously unlocking the bootloader will wipe everything out and to be fair life is too short to spend configuring all my apps again the way I like them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running Android 6.0 DP3 on my Nexus 5 and have to perform a clean flash due to battery drain issues. However, this will make me go through the whole backup and re-setup process again - backup images, backup Whatsapp, backup all documents and download, flash the phone, restore everything, log into the different apps, set up Gmail accounts etc. Obviously, I'm not looking forward to that it's basically also the reason which has kept me from trying different ROMs on my phone in the past. I know that there is Titanium Backup just for that job, but it needs root access and I can't root my phone because this will trigger the "phone isn't secure"-alarm of my bank's super cautious TAN app which will stop it from working (just like using Tasker does, which obviously sucks).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to be a Blackberry user, and backing up and updating the device was as easy as plugging it into the computer and running Blackberry Link. This will be the first time I try to backup and my Nexus.
I'd like to follow the guide that was posted on this blog about installing 5.0 from the factory image ( i can't post the link, but its safeurl is 'android-50-hits-nexus-devices-heres-how-update'), but I'd like to backup all my apps, their settings, texts, pictures, etc first, then flash it to get a fresh install then restore the backups.
I was restoring a twrp backup and when it reaches "flashing system image" in the restore process it just reboots. Ive tried a few things but cant get it going. It just bootloops.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided this morning to root my phone and am now realizing that Nova Launcher apparantly doesn't allow you to choose the location of your backup file if you want to restore it..I keep reading that the default location where the backup file needs to be is on an SD card, how could Nova have overlooked this for Nexus 5 owner's?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.
My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?
Unlocking the bootloader of my nexus wiped clean the internal storage. Although I did not lose much but it made me realize that I should have a backup system in place where everything is being backed up on my home NAS on a daily scheduled basis. I am planning to buy Seagate 4 TB (STCG3000200) which will be connected to my router. now I am looking for a way where I can schedule a incremental dump or differential dump of my phone on a daily basis so I dont have to worry about the backups any more.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI like to backup my phone with TWRP. I backup everything except for system image and vendor image. After restoring the backup I made and booting to the lock screen (I have enter pin to boot disabled), I have to put in my pin and am told that my pin is wrong. The only way to fix this is to factory reset.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm stock rooted when I restore my back up when trying to unlock it when I type my pin or used swipe code it doesn't authorize it
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't delete any system apps with it anymore,....
View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried to create a backup with TWRP of PureNexus the 29M build with EX kernel and it has given me an error.
It says 'E:createTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255'
Why can I not create a backup? I really need to back it up!!!!
I was running Pure Nexus and decided I would install Chroma today. I made a full backup in recovery with TWRP. I then installed Chroma and Gapps. Upon booting it told me I needed to update my vendor image. I couldn't remember how I did that the last time so I decided to just go back to my Pure Nexus and restore it. When I tried I got this error: "E: Cannot restore System -- mounted read only". How to fix this so I can restore that backup? I've searched and didn't find a solution. Also, couldn't find exactly how to flash the update vendor.img. Should have written all this down when I did it back in November.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a chronic rom flasher and repairing my Bluetooth devices every time is getting extremely tiring. So, I did a little researching and found out that titanium backup can backup and restore Bluetooth parings. However, my question is, what do I backup? What's the name of the system app that I need to backup?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to backup any folder on my nexus 5 all works fine but the Whatsapp Images folder won't back up, as soon as i flag the cloud icon appear Google play services crash, am i the only one? i've tried to restar the device but it's the same story...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI don't remember this being an issue with any phone prior. I've had a video on here since Friday. Just a 30 second clip of my daughter riding a carousel at the mall. I can't get it to backup. I've set it to mobile and wifi, I've set it to wifi only, I've tried forcing the backup. Nothing. The pics have backed up just fine. But not this one video.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI like to flash different ROMs, sometimes 3 or 4 per week, sometimes 3-4 per day ... I usually come back to a "daily driver" (currently Chroma) after trying new ROMs - but I always have a Nandroid of my daily driver I can return to.
I know that downloading apps and setting them up is the nature of the beast when flashing new ROMs, but is there a quicker way to restore all your apps and settings? I have Titanium Backup (pro) installed and have backed up all my apps I have customized settings for, the rest are just left as default. I also have TWRP manager (pro), but it asks you to individually install each app and is almost quicker to just let Google choose which ones to download and restore all the apps upon setup. I've never used TIBU to restore more than my backed up app settings, does it ask you to install each app as it goes through them too? Is Titanium the quickest way or is there another way?
I'm running the latest TWRP 3.0.0.0. I noticed when taking a backup, and it asks which partitions I'd like to back up, I notice a couple new ones I've not seen before. System image, vendor image, right below, system, and vendor. I notice the "image" partitions are slightly larger than regular system and vendor. What are these, and should they be included in a regular backup?
View 2 Replies View RelatedTitanium backup won't back up my apps/data claiming insufficient space when I have 46GB left. I'm on Chroma ROM, not the most up to date one though.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo days after owning this phone I had the dreaded bent metal issue near the volume button. I flashed pure nexus on it though and I'm trying to get it back to stock before I take it back into bestbuy to get a new one. My stock nandroid backup fully flashes but it won't boot. All I see is the google logo.
I know I can fb flash the stock, but that's so much more of a process. Plus, it doesn't make sense to me that it wouldn't work...
I'm currently on pure nexus/ then restored stock and titanium backup is displaying an insufficient storage error when trying to back up an app. Also, I can't download anything from Firefox or chrome.I've reflashed the ROM and it didn't solve my issues. What can I do to fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis may be nothing, but I've noticed when I activate Google Now when my screen is off and ask it to save a reminder, it is no longer prompting me after "Do you want to save this?" I don't have a chance to say yes or no. When the screen is on and/or the phone is totally unlocked, it does prompt me.

View 10 Replies View Related"OK GOOGLE" on my N6P is just not responding well at all.
1) most of the time, whether from a lock screen or unlocked screen - OK GOOGLE just doesn't recognize. I've retrained my voice several times - no improvement
2) When it is recognized - it just opens up the search screen - and I either have to type the command or hit the microphone to speak the command... but by now - its out of sync and it just doesn't work.
3) from the lockscreen - when it is recognized - the screen doesn't unlock, but the command may process (or not)
4) frequently when OK GOOGLE is recognized - the following command isn't heard or the timing is out of sync...
OK GOOGLE has become basically useless on my N6P - and it is one of the Android features I use the most. Heck - how am I supposed to prove OK GOOGLE always trumps SIRI - when it just doesn't work? Quite embarrassing actually ...
When using 'Ok Google' the device location icon comes on in the notification bar. Is this normal? I just don't see why Google needs to know my location whenever I activate Google Now.
Talking about the location icon that appears when you use maps and navigation.
For some reason my voicemails are not being sent to my google voice even though it shows that it is set up properly. I am stock/rooted on att.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the setting checked but its not detecting the voice command.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have set up "OK Google" to recognize my voice from screen off.
This works great, however, when I use it, it requires me to enter my PIN/fingerprint to show the results.
Is there any way to turn this off? I have to do that every time.
And as far as security reasons, the phone won't respond to anyone else, so it's not like someone would be able to "OK Google" and unlock my phone, unless they sound exactly like me.
i was wondering what all of us are using as screen settings and why. For me srgb looks certainly more accurate but White are yelloish, they look better on Google's calibration settings but then colors are too saturated... So for now i still haven't made my choice.
