How to restore deleted phone contacts? Somehow I managed to wipe the phone contacts, all other options in the people app are still there, whatsapp, google etc, but I cant find out how to reinstate the contact I deleted. I tried to restore from a backup, as the phone automatically backs up every 24 hours, but for some reason the option to restore back ups is greyed out....

View 4 Replies View RelatedAll of my contacts have been deleted by my phone. I know it sounds nuts. I did not do anything to delete anything that I am aware of. I don't go into those things for fear of doing that. It started last week when my phone was not showing my contact name with the phone number when someone would call me. I went to go and pull up a number today and my entire contact book was empty.I have already tried the following:
-Battery pull, waited for 15 secs.
-Checked my address book filters-both boxes are unchecked
-completed a restore,
having backup-ed my contacts onto the SIM from the phone.Then again, I never knew that an update would delete it.I need to know, is there anyway to recover the contacts in a simple easy way (instead of manually writing everything again).Maybe I can import contacts from Facebook to BB.

However, when i connect the phone & sync with the BB desktop software, its recoginses the device as new & hence not all my contacts are available for use.

I went to the att store where they transferred my contacts over to the S6. 2 days later I tried to install an ios emulator to download an app not available on android that I used to use. The emulator turned out to do nothing and I felt like I just installed malware so I look into restoring the phone to a previous point. To my surprise there is no option to do this but factory restore and then back up from your google account. I
do this thinking I'll be fine because I turned on the setting to back up my phone to the google account. I do the reset and discover that I only get one restore point and it doesn't mention from what time; just says "last used today". I do the restore even though its probably not far back enough to erase the damage the emulator download did and discover that I have lost all my contacts.
Whats the point of the backup if it doesn't backup the single most important thing: your contacts! Whats the point of backup if you can't restore to multiple points! Feeling really frustrated with this phone right now. Do I need to go back to ATT with my old iphone to get my contacts back again?
I have just bought a new lap top and I have transferred all my files over to it. I backed up my I phone 3gs and then restored my new I phone 4gs with the back up. Everything went well except my contacts and apps are not on my new 4gs? Mail settings, old text messages pictures etc all there? Where can I find them? I had assumed i would be able to save/backup/restore the most important info on my cell like my text messages, phone contacts and ALL my photos in my photostream thru iTunes and NOT have to shell out $3.99US + taxes to be able to do so! The App Store has only 1 free app (out of a whopping 5) which, of course, i cannot use on my 6.1.6 iOS..

I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
