I was using Hangouts 2.0 for SMS for a day or so, and I've noticed that it doesn't support splitting messages over 160 characters, as the stock HTC messages app (and Textra and most others) does. This is annoying, and until Google corrects this, I won't be using it.

My fiancee has an iphone and has been trying to send me MMS, and they're not coming through to the Hangouts app. I have auto-retrieve set to ON (even checked auto retrieve on roaming just to make sure). I'm on LTE in NYC (AT&T). I've rebooted the phone, tried deleting the message thread and starting a new one, airplane mode, etc...APN seems fine.
The strange part is this was working just the other day. Now, I'm totally new to Android (coming from an iPhone) so is it possible I changed some setting without knowing what I was doing? Possibly. Do I recall what I did? Nope.
Even stranger: Textra shows the image fine. Hangouts does not.
I believe since my last android update. When i receive MMS messages , I can't open them... When I click download it's downloading for a few minutes and then it just tell me message not downloaded. Touch to retry... I Have a nexus 5 therefore I only use hangouts.

View 9 Replies View Relatedsend an SMS message to someone in Hangouts then delete the message. Now open up the Contacts app (not Dialer) and find that same person. Under the person's details you will see a section called Recents. You will see the message you just sent and deleted with no options, at least that i know of, to delete this message. It will stay there for a few days and then will disappear. But those few days keeping a deleted message is not a good thing. I can just imagine the number of people who are cheating get caught because they didn't know their spouse, boyfriend or girl friend can see who and what recent messages they've been sending to someone, that they thought they had deleted or cleared, just by browsing thru the Contacts app. I think this needs to be changed so that if you delete your messages in Hangouts it will also delete the corresponding message in Contacts instantly.

My BBM has been not sending messages for up to half an hour at times, it just stays on the red clock. It's been like this for a while, I went into the store and they told me to do a software update. I tried that and it got better for a while and then started playing up again.

my phone wont send long text messages, any longer than 3 messages and it will go to send then a few minutes later it will make the message sound twice (as ive just reiceved 2 messages in a row) once i open it has a ! inside a red triangle.form memory i used to convert longer messages to mms but isnt doing it now.

However just today, a long text message was sent and I got 8 messages/8 notifications. And each message definitely had only 60 or 70 characters. Was this because it was so long that it was spit up into 8, but then why were they not split up into 160 characters?
It's seems to be that when I receive very long messages, the mouse/scroll just disappears and I can't scroll up or down.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently got an HTC One M8, and when I try to write a long text message, thats long enough to not fit all on the one window (so it has to scroll), it scrolls so that the bottom line of text is just above the on-screen keyboard. But THEN when i type, the auto suggest words appear above the keyboard, and cover over what I'm typing so that I can't see it, which is really annoying and means every word I have to click back and forth between the editing screen and the other screen to get the view of what I just wrote back.
PS I just noticed it only happens in landscape orientation. I always write texts this way since the keys are bigger and my hands are large. In portrait orientation it works fine.
So now my question is, is is possible to write long texts in landscape format?
I've found that loading and sending messages app sometimes a long time. But when I search messages for a contact or a particular keyword it takes absolutely ages to bring back any results. I never had this problem on the lumia 930 running 8.1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently started getting a problem where my text message program freezes if my phone turns off the screen (i.e. me being inactive for a while). When I get back again it says I can either wait for it to respond or terminate the process. If I wait it unfreezes, but it is still very irritating that it happens every time.
And who's incredibly stupid idea was it to make long SMS messages into MMS-messages? I have problems with my messages not being sent properly, or being sent only partially, all the time. Is there any way to change back so it just adds more text messages instead of converting into MMS?
I use the standard text messaging program that came with my X10 mini pro, and I'd rather not switch since I found it quite good until after recent updates when I got these problems.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter every call, Hangouts will freeze. It will unfreeze after about a minute. Then I send the error report, it will freeze again for another minute. Then I can click okay to close the app. SMS usually doesn't make it freeze, but sometimes will.

I backed up my first phone and then restored the new phone from that backup minutes later. Everything appears exactly as how i had it on the old m8, except my contacts and hangouts are doing this weird thing.
1. my google contacts are loading 141 people into my phone book. My google contacts in gmail, however, have only 85 people allotted for my phonebook in "my contacts" and my old device only displayed those 85.
2. Hangouts lists both the SMS and Hangouts convos separately, so that one contact (bob) is listed in a convo as both bob and bob with an "sms" icon in white over the bottom right of his profile picture.
So ever since I got this phone I've been having issues not receiving MMS messages such as pics and videos.

So I decided to use Google Hangouts instead. All was fine until I decided to send a photo. When I choose the default app to pick the photo and hit "always" it somehow doesn't remember my selection.
Hit the camera, choose send photo, then the popup shows up of using photos, gallery, etc. I choose photos and hit always.
So this is the third time this has happened when sending a photo via Hangouts. Pictures that were taken in portrait orientation end up rotating and sending in landscape orientation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I go into hangouts and sign out, next time I go back in it just automatically signs me straight back in. So basically anybody can read my messages because hangouts will just automatically log me in. How the hell do you stop it from automatically signing you in? Can't find anything in settings and I've tried going into apps and deleting the hangouts cache and hangouts data. But it still signs me straight back in. It won't even let me delete the app either.
