HTC One M7 :: Google Playstore App Updates Notification
Aug 28, 2014
I used to get update notifications when I used the pull down screen on my home screen. Now I have to go to the playstore and access my apps to see if there are any updates. What changed and how do I get the update notifications back?
I have an lg g3 and any app i try to download from google playstore it shows downloading but really does. I have tried multiple apps i tried clearing my cache restarting my phone. Nothing seems to work.
I zip signed a few apps that I don't want to ever get updated, such as Quickpic.
However, they're showing on the play store again, and I tried updating one of them and it went through, even though the signatures should not match in the least.
What's going on and how to prevent this from happening?
I want to add, I verified that the one it overwrote was definitely signed by me...
i have a problem with my arc handset. me and my girlfriend both have the arc with andriod 2.3.3. the problem is if someone writes on my partners wall on facebook she recieves a notification on the notification bar on the top of the phone, however mine does not. ive reinstalled facebook app on the phone and even reinstalled the whole phone from scratch. ive gone through all settings to make sure there all the same and im at my wites end.
When I unlock my phone, there is no notification bar where it usually displays BBMs, App updates etc. The bar that contains this has disappeared and I cannot see my notifications. I don't know where the setting for this thing is or how to fix it.
Why does the "Updates Available" icon in the alert notification bar disappear if it isn't selected immediately? And once it's gone, how can I get it back? (This applies to all types of updates: Android system, service provider's software, and installed apps). The Android User Manual seems to address only relatively simple update-related questions, and I'm not sure whether this notification behavior is a general Android system characteristic, or just unique to Motorola phones, or only to the Photon.
Often, it's not practical or convenient to drop everything else and install updates immediately when the notification appears, e.g., if you're on a phone call, in the middle of writing a somewhat urgent text or email, changing the baby's diaper, etc. The user might especially want to wait until later to download and install updates that are quite large and time-consuming and those labeled "manual," which seem to require monitoring individually in order to accept terms of service, etc., vs. just being able to select "install all."because some of the updates are large and time-consuming, I'd like to be able to turn on 4G or wireless, if they're not already on. (And they usually aren't, to conserve battery power, as recommended by "Remy" in his excellent post on "Android Tips & Tricks.") But at least on the Photon, turning on 4G or Wireless often causes the update icon to disappear, and there doesn't appear to be any way to get it back.
True, the "My Apps" section of the Android Store supposedly tells you which apps have available updates, but it's much more time-consuming to have to connect to the store and check manually instead of just selecting the icon in your notification bar. Also, the App Store won't have info about system updates.BTW, even when you select "install all," you still need to monitor the installation closely. When the update process finishes, you usually get some notification, like "Updates successfully installed." But if your screen has timed out and is off when the update process finishes, you don't get any information about the updates, so you don't know whether they all installed successfully. (Maybe if your screen is off, you only get a notification when an update isn't successful -- but there's no way of knowing that until it happens!)
I'm rooted with an unlocked bootloader. I received the notification to install 6.0.1. I told it to install. When I went back to check on my phone the "team win" screen was up. I chose to power off and restart. I'm back up now but in settings it says I'm still on 6.0 and no updates are available.Did I do something wrong? How do I get to 6.0.1
I rooted my N6 and have TWRP installed. A beautiful combination, however, recently I have been getting upgrades from Google for the phone which will not install. The upgrade has the phone reboot into recovery mode, which is TWRP and then it simply does not take place.
I did not want to put on a custom ROM, I simply wanted to get two apps running and for that, I had to be rooted.
How I do the upgrades now? I used the WUG kit to even put the phone back to stock and remove TWRP but then when it went to do the upgrade it went to the recovery screen and showed an error when it tried to upgrade. I am not sure if my bootloader was locked or not, maybe that was the culprit.
I'd like to leave the phone rooted with TWRP but still do the upgrades?? How??
Shows last time the phone checked for updates in its own was 10:07am this morning. When I try to "check now" it says unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped...why?? This has been going on all day even after turning the phone off and on...
if I rooted my phone using SuperSU after OEM unlock, so stock rom and recovery just root access, would I be able to apply OTA updates, or sideload them?
When install the most recent updates (V5.003/5.004) of K9 the following error msg pops up: "Unknown error code during application install '-505'". I posted the problem in K9 mail forum in Google groups, the developer replied:
"A quick Google search suggests that you might have an app installed that defines the same permission as K-9 Mail defines. On Lollipop the system prevents the second app that defines a permission from being installed.
There's nothing we can do about this. Uninstall the other app (check the Android system log [keyword: logcat] to find out which) and tell its authors to not define K-9 Mail's permission."
Unfortunately I don't know how to "check the Android system log". Then i search Google, found and install an app known as "aLogcat". After open it no log shows up.
I'm thinking about getting the Nexus 5 mainly for the price and fastest android updates. I know the phone works without activation with a carrier (t-mobile, sprint, etc.) But without a carrier, will I still get the android updates straight from Google?
I have a Nexus 5, completely stock 4.4.2, never tampered
Whenever there are multiple updates in the Play Store and I press "Update", the first app updates, then the second one starts downloading, but the download hangs at some point, then after a few seconds the entire Play Store app closes without any message.
After that I can open the Play Store again and try to update the apps, but they only update one at a time, because on the second update it always crashes.
All the Google apps are at the latest versions, Play Store has version 4.6.17. This is happening for a while now, but I can't pinpoint it to a certain version of the Play Store app, but in the past I did not have this problem.
I've tried restarting the device, clearing data and cache for the Play Store app, clearing the cached data for the entire system, even switching the runtime (btw the problem is happening on both Dalvik and ART), but nothing worked.
I also have enough Available space: 4 GB as reported in Settings/Storage.
On my wife's Nexus 4, also completely stock and with updated Google apps, the problem it's not happening, so it's not something in my environment.
My fone cannot download on the play store. it can open but doesn't download or install anything. the last time it gave me "error 489" and now it is giving me error "947" ....
S5 is my first android .. I would like to ask , i cant download some program from the play strore , for example = whatsapp messenger / yahoo messenger. It keep stuck at the blue downloading bar.
but i can download another program like Path / something else, I already tried clear data , clear cache , factory reset, but it still wont work , i still cant download whatsapp / yahoo messenger .
When I use my phone I will be on something e.g text messages or notes or something like that all of a sudden playstore will open and kinda reccomend a app. It's so fustrating
My daughters both have 9300's One is running on 6.0 2949 the other 9300 will not let me upgrade from 5.0 1399. When I plug phone into PC and check for updates I get message saying no Blackberry updates
Since the Market App was updated to ver. 3.1.5 on my htc Desire, that when I get a new message in the notification area that there are updates for any of my20 Apps and clicking on updates it goes straight into My apps but no updates are showing only installed apps so don't know what apps need to be updated, or if already updated it does not say what app was updated. On clicking on all my apps there is no ticks in any of the Automatic Update boxes! Before the update to ver. 3.1.5 you could see what apps needed to be updated and why and had a choice if you wanted it updated or not
No matter which type of reminder I set (when or where) or whether I do it by voice or text, they won't notify me. I get a card on Google now showing up but no notification sound or anything in the notification tray. I have notifications turned on in Google Now settings.
Updated M8 to Lollipop (not by a custom ROM), are the Google Apps displayed with transparent notifications? (in other words, does the color extend to the very top on all of the google apps?)
Suddenly, my notification bar has stopped (vertical and horizontal), so, I cannot receive any notification.I did a dalvik cach, or even check in settings. But I couldn't see nothing that made it be stopped. I'm using XtraSmooth ROM.
