Google Nexus 5 :: Cannot Install Apps In CM Based ROMs
Dec 20, 2014
I've tried 3 CM based ROMs with different kernels and recoveries. All of them give this error when I try to install non-market apks like the ones from humble bundle. Specifically, larger apks which require extra files in the internal storage partition. Also, titanium backup freezes when I try to restore them. AOSP ROMs work fine.
Code:

I have a problem with restoring my apps when I switch to another ROM, I can't so it, I tested on Cr-Droid, Euphoria OS and another and it can't restore my apps, I used Titanium, Go Backup, Backup+ and not worked.
Closed and opened deleted cache and force stop in googleplay couldn't find download manager apps from google play, I did all i found answered for others and it doesn't work!
My phone now goes into random reboot and goes into "Android is starting Optimizing app x of xxx" mode. It take a lot of efforts to bring phone back to normal. I googled for this issue but didn't find any firm solution for the same. My phone has custom ROM based on 5.1.1
The issue started few days ago and I am using this ROM since long time.
I have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
I have successfully flashed both LiquidSmooth ROM (ROM crashed..) and now I went back to CM 12.1... the problem is, when i try to install apk files on my Nexus the installer app says "app not installed" .... I have tried reflashing with a full wipe including dalvik and system format... n
Now I am about to give it up and leave my phone blank as a paper and have only free applications installed from Google Play... I have been already told that i might have flashed the wrong GAPPS but i doubt thats the problem since i flashed NANO GAPPS 5.1.1.
today I installed the new android 6.0 factory image, rooted it (used the modified boot.img from the previous build) and installed supersu 2.52 and blu spark kernel. Everything good until i deleted some apps (gmail, webview, youtube and other NON CRITICAL apps, like I ALWAY DO SINCE KITKAT), then rebooted and my phone is stuck at the Google logo, not even the bootanimation shows up.. Tried to reflash the boot.img, wipe cache, wipe data, factory reset but nothing.. The only thing that worked is to reflash the factory image! What am I doing wrong? Happened 2 times in a row so something must be wrong.. Another thing, I can't access TWRP every time, sometimes it skips and boots directly..
I got an apk file of the new Google Now Launcher which is an official launcher by Google and I couldn't find how to hide useless apps which cannot be uninstalled.
Is there a way to hide them? I thought I should post here if the Nexus 5 users know how to do it.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105. It's not rooted and I never will.
I've not seen HALO on any of the CM based or AOSP based rom's? That was a great little edition which really made the phone look cool, is it a simple add on or if it's even already been implemented into a ROM and i've just overlooked it?
I'm aware that there is an app which tries to emulate it but it's nowhere near as intuitive or as integrated.
My nexus 5 is root and use TWRP recovery. every month i get security patch notification but the installation failed. should i unroot my device or revert to stock recovery or both?
When install the most recent updates (V5.003/5.004) of K9 the following error msg pops up: "Unknown error code during application install '-505'". I posted the problem in K9 mail forum in Google groups, the developer replied:
"A quick Google search suggests that you might have an app installed that defines the same permission as K-9 Mail defines. On Lollipop the system prevents the second app that defines a permission from being installed.
There's nothing we can do about this. Uninstall the other app (check the Android system log [keyword: logcat] to find out which) and tell its authors to not define K-9 Mail's permission."
Unfortunately I don't know how to "check the Android system log". Then i search Google, found and install an app known as "aLogcat". After open it no log shows up.
How much free RAM are you guys seeing on your N5's after the lollipop update?
After a fresh boot, and opening an app or two, my free memory is running between 250-450mb. After I open too many apps, some won't open, or others start closing. I am handicapped in using my beloved N5.
I just received a notification to update my rooted Nexus 5 to Lollipop. It downloaded the 440 megabytes and prompted for a reboot.
But it didn't rebooted. Instead, I got a menu from Team Project with some options. I just hit the "reboot" button and it rebooted to Android 4.4.4. Look like I have lost the lollipop update??! When I go back to check for an update, it says my device is up to date.
Why the Team Project menu showed??! What should I have done? Why the update is lost?
I already had installed Titanium Backup on my Nexus 5 but after changing to ART didnt worked any more cause it wasnt compatible, but okay so far no problem. But now i reflashed Cataclysm Rom (so no Titanium Backup installed) and Multiboot and so i wanted to backup my data for the second Rom but now i cant install Titanium Backup on my primary Rom, doesnt matter if i run in ART or change to DALVIK i even tried the newest version wich should run also with ART. It shows every time the error it couldn't be installed, during installprocess.
With the news that Google will be releasing monthly OTA updates, I am wondering if we can create a method to apply OTA updates on rooted/modified devices (e.g. modify the update.zip itself to bypass whatever checks it performs)?
I run stock, but with root, xposed, and many system applications removed. Returning to 100% stock each month, updating, then re-modifying is a tedious process that I am not looking forward to. How the OTA updates work? Is it even possible to modify the update.zip to remove the check for a stock /system?
how to download and install apps from Google Play to Nexus 5 through PC? I connected my Nexus 5 to PC, how to download apps from Google Play? Nothing happens once I press install.
I just got my Nexus 6p and did the whole root and recovery thing. Made a backup and so far two ROMs downloaded have both bootlooped (CM13 Nightly and the Screwed build from 1/9). I am coming from the 6.0 build and am wondering if I am missing a step or something.
So I decided to try out Cataclysm after being on both Ubermallow and Pure Nexus for some time. Problem is, unless I can figure out how to extract the AOSP keyboard from either of those to replace this lacking Google keyboard without the longpress punctuation, I'm going to need to go back. In the past it was as easy as extracting the LatinIME.apk but apparently I've been in cold storage because the ROM zips look nothing like they used to.
So, how I can extract the keyboard apk from our 6P's roms?
My nexus 5 is rooted and running Stock ROM 5.1.1 and Franco kernel . I have xposed framework installed and use many xposed modules.
What is the easiest way to upgrade to marshmallow with minimum fuss ,prefrebly with Wugs nexus root toolkit. I also want to root the nexus on marshmallow and install xposed .
i have followed all the steps using NRT to unlock boot-loader and root the phone.
Installed TWRT manager and flashed the recovery.
Now i am trying to flash CM12 for the first time and stuck with error message "can't install this package on top of incompatible data" during flashing .
downloaded the following flash zip from CM website: cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip (281.77 MB)
Recently, I've found this cellphone lying around in my brother's house, with the screen broken. He said it was a great phone till the screen cracked out of nowhere (touch area intact, lcd glass intact), and he didn't bother fixing it, bought the **bleep** bitten fruit phone.anyway, I brought it back to life two or three days ago. A new batt (actually, two - the normal battery and the clock's batt), a screen (cheap nowadays) and a lot of WD40 on the board, to flush out the oxidation. Had the v20 FW and I've updated it OTA to v60.0.003 (released 09-22-2011)
My camera just shows a black viewfinder on all custom roms. I tried Chroma, Cataclysm - both have the same issue. 3rd party cameras don't work either..
Are there any roms that allow you to update as though it was an OTA update? I had Blisspop on my oneplus one and it allowed me to do so, without the need to boot into recovery and flash the new image. I could just download and install the nightly updates thru the settings menu. I would love something like that for the Nexus 6P!
Having issue with TWRP not erasing/flashing roms properly..I have a dark theme installed Domination Theme with the extras (MMS, contacts, etc) and i did a very clean install, normally I go Wipe > Advanced and select all partitions and format it.After flashing another rom, I noticed some parts are still dark themed like the MMS, Google search bar, contacts, etc
so I have a nexus 6 I am trying to root and I am using nexus 6 root toolkit I do everything they say to do but when I install the custom rom it says I don't have root access what am I doing wrong. I have tried to root it like 3 times now and it does the same thing.
