View 10 RepliesI have the Galaxy S6 and cannot install certain apps. I keep the error message "unknown error during application install 501" when trying to install apps like SwiftKey, Antutu, CPU-Z, and almost any benchmark apps. Never really encountered this before. Even when finding the APK online I cannot install it successfully.

trying to restore my iphone i get unknown error code 21
Info:
iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1
So, unknown IMEI and Baseband. I ran e2fsck on the persist partition, but it errored out. Formatting worked. I edited and copied the .bdaddr and .macaddr files and those addresses are sticking after a reboot (I know I'm leaving a lot of details out, just trying to prove I did some research and did the basic steps first). So, the /persist partition WAS bad, but is fixed now.
Still getting an unknown IMEI and Baseband (note, Baseband shows correctly in the bootloader screen). Flashed multiple times. Even flashed using the LG Flash Tool (twice, once before fixing the persist partition, and once after).
Now, I think this last bit is the problem. I tried backing up the efs partitions, /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modemst1 and /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modemst2. I was able to backup modemst1 no problem (nice 3MB img file). When trying to backup modemst2, it just says "I/O error".
My Nexus 5, show Baseband as unknown. What can I do?

It's a circle with 2 dashes in it in the top left corner (not on the right!) Running Marshmallow on a Nexus 5 with Nova Prime.
I assume it's from a fairly recent app download but I can't figure out which one and I have lots, do not want to delete them all trying to find out....
I'm facing this problem since the first M Preview, I recently updated to the preview 2 hoping that problem wold be fixed but it wasn't.
The default mass storage device label shows Unknown instead the device's name (Nexus 5), I'm not facing this issue on my Nexus 4 running 5.1.1 stock so I don't think it's an adb driver issue. I've tried to update the drivers to the latest on Google page, but no success.
have recently started to get this message on my phone everytime I try to go on the internet, ''uncaught exception application net_rim_bb_browser_daemon (361)''

At far left (not right) of the bar.
I assume it's from a recent app but have uninstalled several and can't figure it out. It's a Nexus 5 with Marshmallow and Nova, not rooted. (see screenshot)
Is anyone having trouble with speed dialing?
I get USSD Dialing then a "Unknown Code" error
I've just updated my Lumia 1020 to Windows 10 preview 10572. Everything seems ok but for one thing - I can't install the twitter app. It's in the store an allows me to start installing, but it either fails after completing installation, or after restoring user data. I then get an error message with the error code 0x8103010F. I have tried soft resetting several times, but it will not install the app in full. Every other app seems fine, it's just the twitter app that has the issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
I have successfully flashed both LiquidSmooth ROM (ROM crashed..) and now I went back to CM 12.1... the problem is, when i try to install apk files on my Nexus the installer app says "app not installed" .... I have tried reflashing with a full wipe including dalvik and system format... n
Now I am about to give it up and leave my phone blank as a paper and have only free applications installed from Google Play... I have been already told that i might have flashed the wrong GAPPS but i doubt thats the problem since i flashed NANO GAPPS 5.1.1.
My nexus 5 is root and use TWRP recovery. every month i get security patch notification but the installation failed.
should i unroot my device or revert to stock recovery or both?
Nexus 5, unrooted with Lollipop 5.1
K9 mail app (V5.002) is my default mail client.
When install the most recent updates (V5.003/5.004) of K9 the following error msg pops up: "Unknown error code during application install '-505'". I posted the problem in K9 mail forum in Google groups, the developer replied:
"A quick Google search suggests that you might have an app installed that defines the same permission as K-9 Mail defines. On Lollipop the system prevents the second app that defines a permission from being installed.
There's nothing we can do about this. Uninstall the other app (check the Android system log [keyword: logcat] to find out which) and tell its authors to not define K-9 Mail's permission."
Unfortunately I don't know how to "check the Android system log". Then i search Google, found and install an app known as "aLogcat". After open it no log shows up.
How much free RAM are you guys seeing on your N5's after the lollipop update?
After a fresh boot, and opening an app or two, my free memory is running between 250-450mb. After I open too many apps, some won't open, or others start closing. I am handicapped in using my beloved N5.
Closed and opened deleted cache and force stop in googleplay couldn't find download manager apps from google play, I did all i found answered for others and it doesn't work!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just received a notification to update my rooted Nexus 5 to Lollipop. It downloaded the 440 megabytes and prompted for a reboot.
But it didn't rebooted. Instead, I got a menu from Team Project with some options. I just hit the "reboot" button and it rebooted to Android 4.4.4. Look like I have lost the lollipop update??! When I go back to check for an update, it says my device is up to date.
Why the Team Project menu showed??! What should I have done? Why the update is lost?
I already had installed Titanium Backup on my Nexus 5 but after changing to ART didnt worked any more cause it wasnt compatible, but okay so far no problem. But now i reflashed Cataclysm Rom (so no Titanium Backup installed) and Multiboot and so i wanted to backup my data for the second Rom but now i cant install Titanium Backup on my primary Rom, doesnt matter if i run in ART or change to DALVIK i even tried the newest version wich should run also with ART. It shows every time the error it couldn't be installed, during installprocess.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWith the news that Google will be releasing monthly OTA updates, I am wondering if we can create a method to apply OTA updates on rooted/modified devices (e.g. modify the update.zip itself to bypass whatever checks it performs)?
I run stock, but with root, xposed, and many system applications removed. Returning to 100% stock each month, updating, then re-modifying is a tedious process that I am not looking forward to. How the OTA updates work? Is it even possible to modify the update.zip to remove the check for a stock /system?
My N5 receive the Security Patch from Google via OTA. But i use custom recovery (TWRP) and because this, the update don't install.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I click a phone number from the gmail App, a pop up occurs asking me to select a dialer. I pick a dialer and select always. Next time when I again click on a phone number in gmail App it shows the popup with different dialer options again. For some reason it's not saving the application defaults.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 phone is running Android 6.0.1, but shortly before that, I switched from a T-Mobile Prepaid plan to a postpaid plan and then, immediately back to a prepaid plan again. The thing is that I had a $30/month prepaid plan which is not available as a postpaid plan. But no one told me. They just said that I was eligible for a postpaid plan after 18 months. Of course, I jumped right back when they wanted to charge me $50/month. So that is what caused the texting trouble.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 is rooted and running Stock ROM 5.1.1 and Franco kernel . I have xposed framework installed and use many xposed modules.
What is the easiest way to upgrade to marshmallow with minimum fuss ,prefrebly with Wugs nexus root toolkit. I also want to root the nexus on marshmallow and install xposed .
I've tried 3 CM based ROMs with different kernels and recoveries. All of them give this error when I try to install non-market apks like the ones from humble bundle. Specifically, larger apks which require extra files in the internal storage partition. Also, titanium backup freezes when I try to restore them. AOSP ROMs work fine.
