Nov 15, 2015My Nexus 5 is rooted and in the past OTA updates have always worked just fine. I don't use a custom recovery. However, the November Android security update fails. I was thinking this was because BBS was installed as a system app. After uninstalling that it still doesn't work. The only other thing I use is Adaway, so I reverted back to the original hostfile and also uninstalled BusyBox. Still no dice. Or is it perhaps Marshmallow OTA updates simply won't work if the phone is rooted? How come in the past I've been able to do OTA updates with my phone being rooted?
What can I do to get the update? Does that mean I have to basically lose my user data every month to do an OTA update now and reroot my device

Jan 4, 2016I have a rooted N5 and im running 6.0 build MRA58K and continue to get prompted to install a security update.My question is, is it safe to install this update, will i lose root or have to reroot? If i "unroot" the system with supersu and then install it after, would that work too? Also i would like to update my kernel to the newest version. Im running blu_spark build #30. Would i just reflash the kernel or do i have to jump through hoops by reflashing the rom first? I dont remember how it works.

The thing is that I had a $30/month prepaid plan which is not available as a postpaid plan. But no one told me. They just said that I was eligible for a postpaid plan after 18 months. Of course, I jumped right back when they wanted to charge me $50/month. So that is what caused the texting trouble.

May 31, 2011ive just updated my nokia x3 but when i updated it ovi suite restored my phone using an old backup file. this backup file held a diffrent security code which ive forgotten. ive spoke to nokia and the care point in sailsbury. the repair point says i shouldnt be charged for the repair. im awaing a responce from nokia, about them charging me if i use the repair option on the website. Before putting it away or giving it away I was going to wipe out all the old information and hopefully reset it to factory settings.Unfortunately it appears as though one of his friends changed the security code from the default last 4 of the cell number to something else without telling him. Very funny practical joke. Unfortunately my kid has no idea when this happened and his friend does not remember what he changed it to.
I tried every 4 digit combo I can think of and nothing worked. Verizon told me there was nothing they could do. They say they have no master code to reset it and they can't plug it in and reset it manually either.Is this true? Is this phone locked forever? I don't want to figure out what the old code was. I don't care to. All I want to do is to reset the entire thing. Is there no way to do this once that code is changed?
If so then Verizon and LG should make that abundantly clear to people because the odds of someone changing that code and completely hosing their phone is not that low.
