Oct 5, 2015I'm on 5.1.1 stock with Xposed and ElementalX. Should I completely wipe my phone when going to Marshmallow tomorrow?

View -1 RepliesIs it possible to make a backup of bootloader? If it is, how? I am not talking about kernel (boot.img is the kernel, correct?), system, recovery, or data. Bootloader. My Nexus 5 came with bootloader version hhz11n. The factory image from Google (4.4.4) has bootloader version hhz11k.
How different these two are, but since hhz11n image can't be found anywhere, I want to back it up before flashing to Lollipop or Marshmallow.
My Nexus is still running 4.4.4, bootloader unlocked, rooted, with TWRP installed.
My nexus 5 is rooted and running Stock ROM 5.1.1 and Franco kernel . I have xposed framework installed and use many xposed modules.
What is the easiest way to upgrade to marshmallow with minimum fuss ,prefrebly with Wugs nexus root toolkit. I also want to root the nexus on marshmallow and install xposed .
My Nexus 5 did an OTA upgrade to marshmallow today. SMS (handcent) and email didn't work after the upgrade. I fixed the SMS by uninstalling and re-installing handcent ( I think it is called Next SMS) now.
The email still doesn't work. When I click on the existing email app on the homescreen, it says 'app not installed'. The settings/accounts shows a Personal (POP3) account set up with the correct details, but I don't know how to access it.. There is no way to add an email app/widget to the homescreen... (there is nothing to do with email in the apps or widgets sections).
I'm facing a strange issue on my N5. After the update to Marshmallow, the clock is getting slow. I have tried to malually fix the time, set it on automatic and even automatic time zone; but no prevail.

I want to install a custom rom; however, I would like to do a clean install of the custom rom (making sure no files/settings of my previous installations are left if that makes sense). What's the best way to go about this? Does it mean I have to install both the custom rom and the recovery again in order to do a clean install?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow much free RAM are you guys seeing on your N5's after the lollipop update?
After a fresh boot, and opening an app or two, my free memory is running between 250-450mb. After I open too many apps, some won't open, or others start closing. I am handicapped in using my beloved N5.
I just received a notification to update my rooted Nexus 5 to Lollipop. It downloaded the 440 megabytes and prompted for a reboot.
But it didn't rebooted. Instead, I got a menu from Team Project with some options. I just hit the "reboot" button and it rebooted to Android 4.4.4. Look like I have lost the lollipop update??! When I go back to check for an update, it says my device is up to date.
Why the Team Project menu showed??! What should I have done? Why the update is lost?
I successfully rooted my Nexus 5 without entirely knowing what I was doing. But I am finally ready for the Lollipop update that came over the air several days ago. I finally downloaded it, but when it got ready to install it the phone went into what I believe was recovery mode and said "teamwin," before opening up to a menu. From there, I didn't exactly know what to do to get Lollipop to install itself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my 6p yesterday and used skipsofts nrk to unlock and root the 6p. All fine and i am still getting the beginning splash screen saying device corrupt. I was reading in the purenexus rom thread and it said to flash the mdb08m vendor img. When I rooted I was and still am on Mdb08l. Am I able to flash that vendor img on the L or do I need to go up to M? Also is there a link or something on how to flash a vendor img and also where I would find it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to do a complete re install of pure nexus ROM and elemental because I believe I have some issues mainly on my SD card so want to wipe this also. What's the steps to do so? I only have my work laptop also so can't adb anything. Do I just download ROM etc put on laptop, wipe all on phone, then transfer ROM, gapps etc back to phone then reboot to recovery and go from there?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two Nexus 5, one is running Lollipop 5.1.1, the other Marshmallow 6.0 (OTA upgrade).
USB Audio out works fine on the Lollipop Nexus 5: I can connect a USB DAC (iBasso D-zero MK2) using an OTG cable and play streaming music with Spotify, Google Play Music and local music files with Rocket Player. Connecting the same USB DAC with the same cable to the Marshmallow Nexus 5 fails: no sound when playing streaming music and local files using the same apps. (The USB Audio Player Pro app works fine on the Marshmallow Nexus 5, though, allowing to play local music files via USB.)
I tried the "Select USB Configuration" setting in Developers Options and set it to "Audio Source", with no success. Also, the "Disable USB audio routing" setting in Developers Options is disabled.
I tried to build a zImage for nexus 5 and I did everything as usual, git cloned kerenel/msm.git, git checkouted hammerhead marshmallow-mr1, got gcc 4.8 eabi, make hammerhead_defconfig, did one change in config (the only thing I need is TTL target support), make, got no compilation errors, repacked boot.img, tried to fastboot boot and my smartpone simply stuck on Google logo. I tried to compile without any changes in config and again, the smartphone got stuck at Google logo. Unluckily, I don't have UART adapter to see boot logs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I am lagging behind a little in the updates department. I am currently on kitkat 4.4.4 (towelrooted, TWRP recovery with system files modified). AFAIK, i can't use the OTA update I received months ago for 5.0. Is there anyway I can upgrade (without wiping any data), to 6.0? If not, what would be the best way to upgrade to 5.0 (not a clean install/wipe)?
View 5 Replies View Relatedon the marshmallow auto backup feature that saves app data to gdrive, does this also save the data like titaniuim backup does? or just the apps installed? I wonder if titanium is even needed on marshmallow now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to update my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow using ADB/Fastboot and Googles images. I have followed a number of different (yet the same) approaches to flash the unit and NOTHING works. I tried to go back to 5.1.1 and can not restore the unit. It has not bricked (yet) and not sure what to try next. I have read options that call for reformatting parts of the operating systems but fearful this will brick the unit. I have flashed the bootloader, phone, recovery, userdata, sys, etc., and nothing works. I know others have had trouble with Nexus 5 based on what I have read however to date not be able to restore the device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLooks like one of the new features of Marshmallow is native visual voicemail. I think it's only active on T-Mobile so far and it seems to be working for me. All voicemail is downloaded to the dialer app and its synced with the carrier voicemail system. It's okay but not as good as Google voice as it does not convert the message to text. Otherwise pretty useful if anybody ever calls me and leaves a message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own Nexus 5 for enough long time to know how Kitkat worked. There is one thing that has drawn my attention - when I had Kitkat radio running on my phone, the mobile signal was great but after each upgrade to Lollipop and Marshmallow it's gotten noticeably worse. I was wondering, is it possible to install Kitkat radio when running Marshmallow ROM (Cataclysm)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to encrypt my rooter N5 with latest Marshmallow. I have following apps installed - SuperSu, TWRP, Busybox, and ROM Toolbox.
I am trying to adb shell --> su --> then
pkill -KILL daemonsu
And immediately I go into settings and try to Encrypt. I get green android screen and then the phone reboots and goes into boot loop, (I verified... waited for more than 1hr). I interrupt bootloop by powering it off and restart, it will boot normally but not encrypted.
I just got an upgrade notification to marshmallow today. But I still want to stay with lollipop yet. How to remove the notification without being wakelock.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just followed this tutorial : [URL] .....
I used the second way, because the first one told me that 'system.img' was missing (not the only one), whatever; second method was good I did all it was asked but I didn't saw the one command out of the box "fastboot flash cache C:androidimagecache.img", I mean, I did all the command in the 'Code' box but the one 'fastboot flash cache C:androidimagecache.img' was out and I miss it.
So next I followed the step, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons, press Power Button + Volume UP when the android is dead with triangle, it's okay, but now the phone just rebooted and there were no 'Select "Wipe data/factory data reset' as tutorial said there will be.
And now I'm stuck in the boot animation since around 15 minutes I tried to update to 6.0.0 and it's just stuck in the animation.
I just flashed the OTA update for Android 6.0 last week on my Nexus 5 and I noticed that with the new update, phone calls no longer get routed through Bluetooth on my Mazda3. It is able to pair fine with the car and can stream music through Bluetooth, but calls do not go through.
Here is what happens: When I place a call, the audio automatically gets routed back to the phone. If the other person picks up, calls will continue going through the phone speaker unless I manually select route through Bluetooth. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't, but it does get frustrating trying this workaround especially while driving.
I tried unpairing and re-pairing bluetooth with the car, cleared the data and cache of the Bluetooth app on the phone, and even tried a factory reset, but the problem still persists. For the record, when I did this with Lollipop 5.1.1, it worked without a hitch.
Have installed android marshmallow.
Installed appropriate titanium backup.
Successfully installed supersu.
But still the restoring backup stuck at 0.
