Huawei Nexus 6P :: Custom ROMs That Can Be Updated Without Flashing Thru Recovery?
Jan 21, 2016
Are there any roms that allow you to update as though it was an OTA update? I had Blisspop on my oneplus one and it allowed me to do so, without the need to boot into recovery and flash the new image. I could just download and install the nightly updates thru the settings menu. I would love something like that for the Nexus 6P!
My camera just shows a black viewfinder on all custom roms. I tried Chroma, Cataclysm - both have the same issue. 3rd party cameras don't work either..
Having issue with TWRP not erasing/flashing roms properly..I have a dark theme installed Domination Theme with the extras (MMS, contacts, etc) and i did a very clean install, normally I go Wipe > Advanced and select all partitions and format it.After flashing another rom, I noticed some parts are still dark themed like the MMS, Google search bar, contacts, etc
So this may be a stupid question, but this is my first Nexus device. I will have a 6P delivered Thursday and plan to unlock, decrypt, and install TWRP. The guides so far reference using MDB08K, and the modified boot is only for this version currently. After I install TWRP, am I able to install the factory image for the latest MDB08M and just exclude flashing certain images? Or do I need to flash them all then wait for a new modified boot image for 08M and install TWRP over again?
So I flashed the latest firmware, after being unlocked, then rent back to bootloader, flashed recovery, went to recovery and installed file. Then restarted...now stuck in boot loop. It booted before I went to flash recovery in the new firmware just fine.
Do you need to flash something else when you flash recovery?
it says device is corrupt when I restart, but I was under the impression that screen comes up when bootloader is unlocked, so not sure if it means anything...
I've not seen HALO on any of the CM based or AOSP based rom's? That was a great little edition which really made the phone look cool, is it a simple add on or if it's even already been implemented into a ROM and i've just overlooked it?
I'm aware that there is an app which tries to emulate it but it's nowhere near as intuitive or as integrated.
I just got my Nexus 6p and did the whole root and recovery thing. Made a backup and so far two ROMs downloaded have both bootlooped (CM13 Nightly and the Screwed build from 1/9). I am coming from the 6.0 build and am wondering if I am missing a step or something.
So I decided to try out Cataclysm after being on both Ubermallow and Pure Nexus for some time. Problem is, unless I can figure out how to extract the AOSP keyboard from either of those to replace this lacking Google keyboard without the longpress punctuation, I'm going to need to go back. In the past it was as easy as extracting the LatinIME.apk but apparently I've been in cold storage because the ROM zips look nothing like they used to.
So, how I can extract the keyboard apk from our 6P's roms?
I have nexus 5 with android 5.01 rooted with custom recovery TWRP. The problem is i downloaded 5.1 in about phone > check for update. When it restart it goes to custom recovery menu and nothing happen. I downloaded 5.1 zip file and i try to install with TWRP but it says error. I really wanna taste 5.1 ....
I recently bricked my Nexus 5 after attempting to load one kernel over another (I know now that what I did was stupid) and I'm now stuck in a bootloop. I believe I'm running on 5.1.1 and have no custom recovery anymore.
I am trying to adb sideload custom rom but adb devices is not recognizing my nexus 6p. I have deleted my internal storage, I have no os, am I screwed? My computer recognizes that my phone is connected, adb recognizes my phone is attached when not in recovery. The only time my phone is not attached is when in twrp recovery, when in recovery my phone shows up in device manager with an exclamation point and the message that the drivers are not installed but adb is installed.
What is everyone else running for custom RGB settings on custom kernels to fix the color inaccuracy? I'm running the following which when compared to my IPS computer monitor, is pretty similar:
I installed Pure Nexus and that went great. That is until I left the house and had no data. Did some searching and all the recommendations say install the latest vendor image. So I did and flashed the mmb29q vendor image and I still don't have data.
I'm trying to sideload the new OTA, but for some reason when Nexus Root Toolkit gets to the point where it actually tries to sideload it, ADB disconnects. I went into the driver software and it's a microsoft driver. I've tried replacing it with the Google USB driver but windows just says "Windows has determined this is the best driver for your device" and doesn't let me. I've been trying all day.
I've been on the Pure Nexus rom for a while now and I wanted to try out the Screw'd Rom. So I downloaded and installed said rom. When It boots up and goes to the setup wizard I get no network data what so ever. I looked through the thread and it said to also flash the update vendor.zip. I did that hoping it would bring back my data but it didn't. So I decided to go back to the Pure Nexus rom, clean install, and again I have no network data. What I could do to get it back? I've tried messing with the APN settings but no dice. I should have made a back up before switching roms but unfortunately I forgot to do so.
I currently am running Stock ROM from EE which includes WiFi Calling. I want to use custom ROMs but I cannot due to it not having WiFi Calling, I have asked developers but I have been ignored. I do not have any signal at work nor at home so I rely on WiFi Calling, how do I put it on a custom rom myself?
Since 2 weeks I have a problem with netflix, you have the rom XtrALite 2.6, and reproduce this series netflix entered an infinite load. I restored a rom Stock and the problem is solved, now I have chosen to have the rom wanam and I still have the problem of netflix,
i just rooted my motorola milestone and was wondering, where to get custom roms in english for my newly rooted phone?im currently googling to find some
I just got my second hand Nexus 6p and the bootloader came unlocked and TWRP is installed. The updates don't work when TWRP is installed so I want to go back to the stock recovery.
Build number: MMB29P Android 6.0.1 January 2016 patch.
I've tried a few methods of getting recovery back but so far have failed. I always end up with that droid and a red warning triangle, which if left long enough it will boot into android on its own..
After flashing viper4android, the speakers are unable to produce sound of any sort. I tried flashing the factory image, and uninstalling the viper driver, but nothing seems to work.
My Nexus ha been a dream. Though I've hit a few bumps, I don't expect to waste money on other flagships again.I don't need to be able to right this instant, but wiping cache is one of my regular troubleshooting tools. Upon troubleshooting an MMS issue I was having, I discovered my recovery wasn't working properly. Though I fixed the MMS issue by resetting APN settings, the recovery thing has been bothering me.
I am running stock and locked. I have done nothing to this phone to warrant it being my fault. The problem is simple (and a Google search indicated, common). When you get to Recovery, you get a droid on its back, a red exclamation mark and "NO COMMAND". Doesn't matter if you hold up and power, tap up, or get there from the bootloader. The recovery software is seemingly missing completely.
So just purchased my nexus 6p and after reading the index by Heisenberg, I came to know that I have four updates to install. So downloaded all serial wise.
But the problem is when I boot into stock recovery and select apply update from SD card it says sdcard not mounted. So how to solve this.
Second thing after mounting can I apply all updates serialwise one by one and then reboot or do I have to apply an update and then boot then apply the second one and so on.
I have found some zip file in the forums that removes all the unneeded google apps when you flash it. There is heaps of stuff i don't need like docs, drive ... Is there something like that for the nexus 6p?
I got my 6p yesterday and used skipsofts nrk to unlock and root the 6p. All fine and i am still getting the beginning splash screen saying device corrupt. I was reading in the purenexus rom thread and it said to flash the mdb08m vendor img. When I rooted I was and still am on Mdb08l. Am I able to flash that vendor img on the L or do I need to go up to M? Also is there a link or something on how to flash a vendor img and also where I would find it?
I tried to update my phone to the latest version. I hit install from the notification, my phone reboots goes into TWRP recovery.... does nothing, then I have to "reboot into system" and then the phone boots up like normal. Without updating to 6.0.1.
