Yesterday, I dropped my nexus 5 and now my screen won't display anything any more. But the backlight works and so does phone (i know the phone still works because my alarms still are going of) What do you (people on the forum) think is wrong with my phone. Do i need a whole new display and touchscreen or is there just a wire that needs to be reconected?
View 2 RepliesI am inordinately happy about this, but also annoyed that I didn't know about it earlier. It was in the Google Settings app rather than the phone's settings, so I missed it! This was the one feature I envied on the Moto X and I had it all this time!

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have Nexus 5 and was running good with Marshmellow and suddenly one day the screen started scrolling up. Restart or factory reset did not work. While starting the boot logo was also corrupted and I use to get is display with random pixels lit with different colors, mostly white and red. So have tried different bootloaders and even downgrading to 4.4.4 but the issue is still there.

I can hear the notifications going thru my phone but the screen is blacked out. I've tried several times the Power button + Volume down but I can't even access the reboot display.

Last night, I noticed that my phone didn't seem to be sleeping. I rebooted my phone and it seemed to be working. The next time I tried to check something on it, the screen would not come on after pressing the power button. Pressing and holding the power button, the phone would reboot and I would be able to use my phone normally until it slept/I turned the screen off. Power button does not bring the screen up, but the backlight does come on. Notifications come through, (light included).
I've since factory reset my phone, loaded settings from what was saved before.
-> phone will not wake Factory reset, -> treat as new device, no apps from google play installed -> phone will not wake
This issue for me has just started as of last night, with nothing updated/installed/changed recently. Cycling the power (holding power till it restarts) allows for use of the phone (until it sleeps), power + vol up does nothing different from just power, and power + vol down boots to the bootloader with nothing changed when started from there.
I have looked elsewhere, this doesn't seem to be a common problem, but seems (to me) occurs more with rooted/rom'ed phones and not stock phones. This phone hasn't been either of those. None of the things I've found seem to have any solutions.
Edit: I went through the Google Play store troubleshooting thing for 'Device will not turn on' and now I cannot get anything other than the Google logo upon restart, or the Boot-loader if Vol - and power.
I have Nexus 5 but 4G doesn't works . My service provider supports 4G service at 800MHz and 1800MHz as it shown here [URL]... , but my nexus 5 d 821 does not work with 4G, I want to ask that if there is a solution like a roms or others things.
View 4 Replies View Related1 week ago i send my nexus 5 to the service because it was rebooting after google logo appears...after 2 days the send my device back.They didn't fix it cause of liquid damage... yes liquid sensor was red...they send a paper witch it says that lcd,battery,fpc flex,mainbord sort circuit due to liquid damage ...after 5 days i open my self the phone and i realize that the problem was on the power button...and voila!!!the phone open again,everything works fine except gsm signal .... after i insert the sim card it says "no service"sim card works i test it to an other phone. is any way to test quallcom transceiver? When i realize that the devise works i make update to 5.1 so i don't know if gsm works with older version. I think this is a hardware problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe last time the display functioned I was starting a play-list for my shower. I adjusted the volume once or twice without lighting the screen, and after drying off stopped the music by removing the speaker jack again without lighting the screen. The device then went into my shirt pocket and I ate dinner then watched a movie but when I tried to do a little surfing before bed the screen wouldn't light up. I had seen it light up the buttons but take a few seconds for the display when the CPU was busy so I waited, nothing happened. I pulled the battery and tried again, nothing on the screen. But then I discovered that the touch sensor was still functioning, I could swipe to unlock and power down in the standard fashion just blind. I have examined the water stickers they are both white with bright red X's.
While writing this question (I am sure many of you already know this fact) I discovered that the display of my device is in fact three distinct functional parts. The capacitive touch screen still in operation on my device, the LCD image generator also still in operation, and the Led illumination source which for lack of a more accurate description is burned out.So my question is how could this occur, is it software or hardware, and what are my recourses?
So the title says it all. I dropped my phone, after which just get LTE,. If I toggle to 3g/2g, it says No Service. I replaced my simcard from tMobile, still no luck.
How do I know what has broken? Will flashing stock Radio only work? Do i need to take a backup of something before flashing radio?
I am currently running 4.4.4 stock with root and xPosed framework. Phone was purchased on its launch, so, its not under warranty anymore...
1) Bluetooth wont turn on, but wifi works
2) Factory Reset to 5.1.1 , 5.0, 4.4.x doesn't work
My Nexus 5 refuses to turn on Bluetooth only. The slider moves to the right and then back again. I have factory reset the phone 3 times, flashing different versions from 5.1.1, 5.0 and 4.4.x to see if it fixes the problem, but I have had no luck. I know some other people have had problems too, but there doesn't seem to be a clear solution. I don't know if it is a hardware issue, since wifi works fine and the wifi and Bluetooth antennas are one unit located on the back cover( according to my understanding). I tried replacing the back cover from a different nexus 5, but still couldn't get Bluetooth to work.
My eyes are kind of damaged and I need to know if the Nexus 6P phone screen uses PWM for backlight dimming. Majority of people never notice it but I'd say 5% of people have issues caused by it (headache, migraines, seizures, etc.) Kind of like the CRT flicker but in modern LED backlit devices.
To test use a high end camera/DSLR with adjustable shutter speed and look for black lines on the phone screen when adjusting the camera's shutter speed.

I'm driving overseas and using my phone as a gps. The phone display is set to go off after 2 minutes which is annoying when using a gps.
Is there an easy way or setting to automatically make the display stay on - only when using maps - without having to constantly change the settings?
Its been almost 1 1/2 years since I bought Xperia X 8, off late, even after locking the handset, the backlight is getting "ON" and becase of the display the battery is getting drained fast.I did the following steps but still the problem persists
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy sister has an S5 and got it wet. She thought it was dead but turns out the backlight only works now when it is turned all the way up. The issue with thar is that max brightness drains the battery quite well. Any way of fixing the backlight? I tried Lux auto brightness and that just turned the brightness down, which made the light turn off as it does when adjusted manually.

The problem is : Google Logo stays displayed. Bootanimation doesnt displays and so, it seems it prevents phone from displaying Setup Wizard, and Android UI. Maybe the problem is "libsecureui.so" dlopen failed.
I just picked this up last week on a whim, the day Verizon released it, so I am new to the phone.
My question is... Can I customize the notifications that show up in the ambient display?
In other words... I want all notifications at the top of the home screen, just like always... but I only want text messages to show up on the ambient display. Not every piece of junk mail I receive, or ebay notices, etc.
I am about to just turn it off, but am hoping I can get it to only show SMS (texts).
some of my contacts relate to my work and i fill their company name when saving them to my contacts.
However when receiving a call from a work colleague i get only his NAME and the Company is now shown.
Question - is there a way to see the company name of the contact as well when receiving a call?
Noticed that the clock will sometimes be slow by as much as a few minutes - only in ambient display.

View 10 Replies View RelatedVerizon 32 GB Nexus 6, stock no root. 5.1.1. It won't autorotate. Display setting is set to autorotate and Accessibility setting is set to autorotate but it won't. Multiple on/off reboots with settings off and on. Cleared system cache. I downloaded Check My Android and it shows all sensors active and working normally. I downloaded Set Orientation and it won't change automatically. I can force it to landscape mode using the app but have to do it manually. The camera takes a picture in portrait and displays it either upside down or in landscape.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently my Nexus 5 stopped working. I get no display, But I can assume the phone is on because when I connect it, the holder on my computer opens up.
I assume there is something wrong with the connection. sometimes i can play with the daughterboard and the backlight lights up. but there is still no display.
The problem is that the phone is in PTP instead of MPT.
I don't care about the phone much as the pictures on it, because they are the last picture I have of a family member that recently passed away in an accident.
Even though the phone is rooted. when I load up Nexus toolkit, the phone is listed as unauthorized and I don't know how to pull any files off of it.
So I have Priority Mode set at night so I won't get bothered by notifications, but I also have Ambient Mode on and even on Priority Mode it still lights up. Is there any way to set it so that my screen doesn't light up when Priority Mode is set? My room is pretty dark and I keep seeing my screen light up at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my phone suddenly started flickering out of the blue. And had lines going down vertically. I restarted the phone and then the display was fine but the touch screen wouldn't work. Upon another restart it was just a blank screen with white vertical lines.
Figuring something must be wrong with the screen I ordered a new one, and upon install the new screen has the same problem. Blank screen vertical white lines. Not sure if another component is faulty.
On most recent version of screwd with tk gapps and I can't get wallet to load. It hangs up on the splash screen and never moves. Have tried clearing cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
Im havin a lil trouble wid the the backlight on my device...wen im on the desktop..the display doesnt go off..my settings for display backlight time out is set to 10 secs...dis doesnt happen when i reboot the fone...the backlight goes off after 10 secs..but after making a call or using some applications like contacts or conversations..the same thng happns again..and ive enabled the power saving mode..
