I have an S6 (AT&T) and it is downloading to my phone random txt files without even opening any apps!
The two that are being downloaded are ScenenUserSleep.txt and miniclipld.txt
I removed the Pool game app from my phone (made by miniclip) and it seems to stop the miniclipld.txt from downloading but the other one I cannot stop!!!
Why is it doing this and how do I stop it??
I have been having this annoyance where the phone would play a sound (it is like the sound the lockscreen makes when you set it to swipe to unlock). I hear the sound about every hour or so, but I am trying my best to figure out how to remove it.
So far I haven't did anything to stop this from happening, I'm looking for some answers to hopefully get rid of this.... I keep thinking that it is a notification, but I don't see one of them.
S5 call the person you are texting? I can sometimes text someone and not hit the call button. Before I know it I am calling that person.

Done a few resets, flashed stock firmware, but nothing works.
Based in UK and my phone is unbranded on EE.
Almost every day, I get a random message on the S5 saying "contacts has stopped". How can I prevent this message from coming up?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI transferred/restored all my info and apps to it used it all day till night perfectly fine. It was fast, wifi working fine, etc. Then tonight I installed Go Launcher on it and played with it for like 10 mins and then noticed wifi stopped working. I turned wifi off and when I tried to turn it back on it failed, I kept trying until wifi turned on. Mean while the phone was super super slow so I turned off power saving mode but it didnt work. Then I noticed wifi started turning off on it own. My next step was remove Go launcher but it didnt fix anything, the issues stayed. Next I reset it to factory setttings but when it came on, wifi was failing (and phone slow) even during the initial set up wizard.
The phone was completely fine during the whole day.And my biggest worry is that this is an exchanged phone. I originally got a supposedly new s5 from ebay, (from a guy with thousands of reviews/transactions and like 98% positive score) but eventually I realized the battery was fake and that the IR blasted didnt work. He agreed to exchanged it and I received it yesterday and now today the phone has already failed but in the weirdest way possible by being completely fine for the majority of the day.

My phone ran out of battery so I put it on charge, as normal. Upon returning to my phone 30 minutes later it was on a bright, light blue / green screen that said "Factory Mode" in the top left corner and "Downloading - Do Not Turn Off Target" in the centre. I left this for an hour as I couldn't do anything, and it is still the same? Can't even turn the device off, or on.
I've not even had the phone a month, only have a handful of social media apps and last used it to take photos. Phone ran out of battery again. Rebooted after a charge and it is fine.
I know my way around PC hardware and OS's.My problem sarted when I went to the T-mobile update. Phone stuck on "downloading update...", blue text on white background. Unable to boot into recovery, but was able to get into download mode. I found the correct ICS firmware update .tar file, but Odin 1.85 will not work. It always sticks on Setup Connection. Others fixed this by using differnt USB port and/or cable. Tried all 10 USB ports, nada; don't have another cable, but I'm out to get one this morning. I assume if I can get to download mode I'm not totally bricked. Only way I can get into d/l mode is to remove the battery, otherwise phone just boots to white update screen.I'm looking at a $200 brick! Wonder if I should just walk in to a T-mobile outlet and demand a fix.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter it rebooted a number of times at the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge boot screen, I held Vol -, power and home. It brought me to a screen to choose Vol + for custom OS, Vol - to cancel or Home to reload from Samsung. I initially chose Vol - and it just started rebooting again. Did the 3 finger salute and chose the Home button. It's now been sitting on a turquoise screen with the phone info in the top left corner and it states in the middle "Downloading...Do not turn off target" It's been on this screen for about two hours now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have galaxy s5 I'm currently on a vacation so I and I wish I didn't ,putted my phone in the pool,it worked fine for like 2 mins but then it told me that headset is connected although I didn't connect any,and then the screen went off,I hurried to the romm and wiped all the water inside ,but still it wouldn't work , I tried exchanging batteries,didn't work,but then outta hope I tried one last time and luckily I had a screen saying "downloading. View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, to try and clarify...I have had all of the Samsung Galaxy S phones except the S5. I've moved all my photos & screen shots from them to my pc over time, generally via Kies or usb transfer. I've noticed that I have now got a huge number of .png files dated from about 2012 onwards that I can't open. Previous png files can be opened-they appear to be screenshots or the like. So I don't know what has happened. They can't be opened using any of the options on my pc. (I recently changed to Windows 10 from 8, but it was doing this prior to that) I can't re save them because they can't be opened, nor does changing the file name allow them to be opened.
I've also noticed that my current S6 makes all my screenshots .png files as well. The only way around this at the moment is to upload them to Google drive and change it to a jpeg file at the time. I have to do this for each shot one at a time. I'm assuming I can then move these across from Google drive as jpeg.
So, I need to know how to change the default on my S6 from .png to .jpeg for screen shots. How to change my previous .png files back to jpeg so I can open them! I have copied all of them to a usb stick and tried to open them on my work computer, but that also won't open them under any program. I realise that isn't an Android issue in itself, but as all of these images have come from my Galaxy S phones originally, I don't want to delete them without being able to see them as I might want to keep them...but without knowing what they are...
I've ripped thousands of songs to my Windows 7 laptop. The directory structure is: Artist Name/Album/xxxxxxx.wma
I'd like to add a 128GB micro-SD card to my Galaxy S5 that will hold all my music. My phone has the 'Google Play Music' app installed but it doesn't support WMA files. The Google forum suggests I download their 'Music Manager' program for Windows. Will this work on an android phone?
Any other app that will accomplish what I want (using the above directory structure copied to the Galaxy micro-SD card)?

My S6 will not stay connected to my PC so I can transfer files, use Kies, SmartSwitch, or anything. Sometimes I hear the Windows notification that it's plugged in, but even when I do, it goes back and forth between being recognized and not. Most of the time it doesn't even show up in Device Manager.
I'm currently running Windows 10, but it did the same thing on Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the Samsung USB drivers as well as allowed Kies and SmartSwitch to install them.
Thinking my Windows 10 being upgraded from 8.1 without a full wipe carried over whatever problem was in 8.1, I did a full wipe of my PC and reloaded Windows 10 clean. That also didn't work.
When I first installed Windows 10 clean, my PC didn't recognize my phone at all. It just acted like a charger. After I installed the Samsung USB drivers, it started making the 'connecting' and 'disconnecting' sounds. Also, the most I got Windows to recognize my phone was for about 5 seconds, and that was right after turning off USB debugging. But with it on or off, it still won't stay connected.
And yes, I've made sure (when the phone has connected for a second or two) that it was on MTP. But... I've tried the camera mode as well.
This makes it not only impossible to move files easily between my phone and PC, but also to use Odin.
I've read many posts where people have this problem, but everyone just tells them to go download the Samsung USB driver, and after having done so three different ways, I can say it doesn't work for me.
Have installed pdf reader app as well I have changed setting to no limit download size and auto download as previously suggested. I end up always getting file size 0 or incompatible file message.

I have removed all my pictures and files that are visible to an external hard drive, all is left to access is the pictures and files i have in private mode. I wish to remove these before sending phone back, its essential i retrieve these hidden folders. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of pictures and videos that I'm trying to transfer to this S5 and it's just giving me errors whatever way I try. I've tried moving all of them from my pc to the phone through usb and it will transfer some of them and then just stop partially through like it's frozen. I've tried sending them straight to the microsd card in the phone, and also tried transferring them to the internal storage and both methods had the same result. Then I tried instead to compress all the files into a .rar and then transfer but that method hasn't worked either.
The loading bar will appear as usual and when it gets almost completed it gives an error saying something along the lines of "cannot copy file because device has been disconnected or stopped responding". I used to be able to transfer files to this phone all the time until just yesterday so what can be causing this problem. This is the same phone, and pc that I've been using for a while now, the only thing different is now there's a different sims card and microsd card in the phone, but I don't figure that has anything to do with the connection problem it seems to be having?
Whenever I attempt to download a file through the stock web browser (i.e. an .iso file, .nzb file) which is not compatible with the bundled office suite, I often find that my download either fails or is somehow corrupted. The problem is solved by installing a third party bloatware browser (i.e. firefox) to download files with.

The files are mostly MKV videos files, ranging from 1GB to 3GB in size.
On my old S5, I usually take the MicroSD card out and copy the files using a USB 3.0 card reader connected to my computer's USB 3.0 port. Or I just connect the S5 to my computer using the included USB 3.0 cable. Both methods are very speedy.
With the S6, I don't know, it seems to take about 3 times as long to copy the same files. I thought the internal memory was supposed to super fast... or is the USB 2.0 connector the bottleneck? or is there something else that I can do to speed things up?
In preparation for a potential factory reset, see post on TouchWiz, I wanted to copy off my files from the phone to my desktop. I can see the files I want using "My Files" on the phone, but when I use Windows Explorer (Win10) with the phone connected over USB, the folders are empty. I've never had trouble finding files before but I add this is the first time I'm trying with Windows 10.
