Galaxy S5 :: Possible To Access Hidden Files On Phone From PC?
Oct 30, 2014
My child dropped my phone from the top of the stairs, and my screen will not display anything it has several hair line cracks on the screen.- if i swipe my fingerprint i can hear the phone opening but again display doesn't work. I have removed all my pictures and files that are visible to an external hard drive, all is left to access is the pictures and files i have in private mode. I wish to remove these before sending phone back, its essential i retrieve these hidden folders. Is there any possible way to gain access from my pc???? i can swipe my finger to unlock phone but thats it.
I don't have the ability to 'explore'. I have hidden files and can now not get to them. I didn't have this problem until I had my handset replaced under insurance.
I just installed Kaspersky mobile, and after a scan I've seen more than 18000 jpegs in E:system, a folder that I cannot access from phone or via Nokia Suite. Is there any way I can browse that folder and delete unwanted files? I think I got lots of useless files there after I installed Nokia Belle since lots of applications dissapeared. Also, I'm trying to see the hidden process that runs on my phone and I have no idea how because that dont shows in the application list. I dont know how to free more space on C: , got 46 Mb free and I dont know to free up more space.
I am using HTC M8 and my issue is with hiding video files. For hiding video files I am using gallery vault app. The problem is that I have a video file (wmv format) 1 gb in size on my SD card and when I try to hide the file using gallery vault or any other video hiding app the video file reduces phone memory. I was told that when a file in SD card is encrypted it is getting stored in the same destination (SD card). For eg. a file in SD would remain in SD even after hiding. So why does the files which are hidden is reducing my phones memory. I had the same problem with my S4 phone.
Is there anyway i can access the other file in the phone memory.everytime i download an app it keep reducing eventhough it install the app in my card memory.and i dont think all the file there are of great importance to the system itself.now i'm left with just 3mb. hard format doesnt seem to delete this file
I have the latest bb Bold, and when I go into my media, explore, then click on show hidden files, I can see my hidden files but the problem is, my phone refuses to let me unhide them.
Okay, so I have got my Lumia 820 and tried to send my contacts from my old N8. I managed to connect via bluetooth and send the contacts, but they are no where to be found. Tried going into Phone Storage, but from there I can only see how much memory is taken up and how much is left.
how I could access the phone storage memory and the files on there?
I recently added a new app to my phone, upon completion of installation of app I noticed that all my pictures were missing. At first I thought they got deleted and was really upset but upon exploration I have found them. When I go into the media file and go to explore it brings up my device memory then I go to home where there is nothing but I can hide the user folder but when I go into the properties of the user folder I can not unhide it because the hidden button is greyed out. Does anyone know how to change this or fix this? I would really like to have it back to normal! Again I don't have a memory card it is just the user file on the device memory that will not unhide
Up until last week I was able to merrily sync my songs onto my Storm's memory card using Windows Media Player, then all of a sudden all the songs on the memory card disappeared from the Storm's media player and I could only see the songs on the phones onboard memory. However, you can see and play the files by exploring through the file system on the Storm and choosing the "show hidden" option in the folders. As these files cant be viewed through the Storm's media player, the media experience becomes very poor. Now, I noticed that if I sync the songs to the Storm using Windows Media Player AND choosing NOT to create a file hierarchy on the Storm's memory card, the songs appear correctly in the Storm's media player, with the disadvantage that the memory card becomes a bit cluttered because tracks arent sorted into folders as I have chosen not to use a file hierarchy when syncing.
Ok so as much as I have learned to do with my storm 2 I just tonight decided to experiment with the hide option for files or pics or whatever. And now my question is how do I find em now? I figured I would find a view hidden files option but don't see it and I accidentally hid a spreadsheet I kinda need lol.
All my media files on the memory card are hidden. When i select any of the options in Media menu, I can only access the item that have been saved onto phone memory. All the files/folders that where on the memory card have dissapereard.
When i am in Explore mode and select the Show Hidden option, I can see all my previous files/folders. All the folders on the mem card have been hidden, and thus my device cant access the files.
How do i change this attribute permanatley, restore it to what it was.
So I checked the box to hide files on my media card but it seems that I can't get them back - I am using 5.0.0.423 and the "explore" option is not present when I click the menu button under "media". Any other ideas?
Ok, to try and clarify...I have had all of the Samsung Galaxy S phones except the S5. I've moved all my photos & screen shots from them to my pc over time, generally via Kies or usb transfer. I've noticed that I have now got a huge number of .png files dated from about 2012 onwards that I can't open. Previous png files can be opened-they appear to be screenshots or the like. So I don't know what has happened. They can't be opened using any of the options on my pc. (I recently changed to Windows 10 from 8, but it was doing this prior to that) I can't re save them because they can't be opened, nor does changing the file name allow them to be opened.
I've also noticed that my current S6 makes all my screenshots .png files as well. The only way around this at the moment is to upload them to Google drive and change it to a jpeg file at the time. I have to do this for each shot one at a time. I'm assuming I can then move these across from Google drive as jpeg.
So, I need to know how to change the default on my S6 from .png to .jpeg for screen shots. How to change my previous .png files back to jpeg so I can open them! I have copied all of them to a usb stick and tried to open them on my work computer, but that also won't open them under any program. I realise that isn't an Android issue in itself, but as all of these images have come from my Galaxy S phones originally, I don't want to delete them without being able to see them as I might want to keep them...but without knowing what they are...
I've ripped thousands of songs to my Windows 7 laptop. The directory structure is: Artist Name/Album/xxxxxxx.wma
I'd like to add a 128GB micro-SD card to my Galaxy S5 that will hold all my music. My phone has the 'Google Play Music' app installed but it doesn't support WMA files. The Google forum suggests I download their 'Music Manager' program for Windows. Will this work on an android phone?
Any other app that will accomplish what I want (using the above directory structure copied to the Galaxy micro-SD card)?
My S6 will not stay connected to my PC so I can transfer files, use Kies, SmartSwitch, or anything. Sometimes I hear the Windows notification that it's plugged in, but even when I do, it goes back and forth between being recognized and not. Most of the time it doesn't even show up in Device Manager.
I'm currently running Windows 10, but it did the same thing on Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the Samsung USB drivers as well as allowed Kies and SmartSwitch to install them.
Thinking my Windows 10 being upgraded from 8.1 without a full wipe carried over whatever problem was in 8.1, I did a full wipe of my PC and reloaded Windows 10 clean. That also didn't work.
When I first installed Windows 10 clean, my PC didn't recognize my phone at all. It just acted like a charger. After I installed the Samsung USB drivers, it started making the 'connecting' and 'disconnecting' sounds. Also, the most I got Windows to recognize my phone was for about 5 seconds, and that was right after turning off USB debugging. But with it on or off, it still won't stay connected.
And yes, I've made sure (when the phone has connected for a second or two) that it was on MTP. But... I've tried the camera mode as well.
This makes it not only impossible to move files easily between my phone and PC, but also to use Odin.
I've read many posts where people have this problem, but everyone just tells them to go download the Samsung USB driver, and after having done so three different ways, I can say it doesn't work for me.
Have installed pdf reader app as well I have changed setting to no limit download size and auto download as previously suggested. I end up always getting file size 0 or incompatible file message.
I have an S6 (AT&T) and it is downloading to my phone random txt files without even opening any apps!
The two that are being downloaded are ScenenUserSleep.txt and miniclipld.txt
I removed the Pool game app from my phone (made by miniclip) and it seems to stop the miniclipld.txt from downloading but the other one I cannot stop!!!
