Some of you, like me, have been wanting the new update for Google Play Services. just wanted to share that a new version of the Android Wear companion app is available. This update is dependent on the new version of Play Services..So by installing or updating Android Wear you should immediately be notified of the Play Services update. This just worked on 3 separate devices for me. Even without connecting a Wear device.

I found out, that I have an outdated version of Google Play Services and I have tried Google, but can't seem to find a way to manually update it and since it don't update itself, how do I update it?
I am having trouble with my Google play store. While I try to access it, it shows me an error that says "An application requires an update for Google play services".

Using 5.1.1.
Upgraded to L, factory reset, updated all apps.
I set up smart lock with trusted places. When it works it works. But every time I restart my phone I now get 'google play services has stopped'. I tried uninstalling google play services updates and reinstalling with no luck. Smart lock also deleted my trusted places last night and google play services crashed again this morning when I tried to read them.
Maybe this why samsung hide the setting on this phone (smart lock works perfectly on the moto x 2014 btw, so its not L )
This has been a little annoying as PlayNow application itself starts in background & starts drainging my Battery. The only solution i have is to restart the phone.This has now become daily issue to restart the phone & sometimes i reboot the phone twice a day, There is no option of force stopping the application & neither i could find out how to remove the application. I just dont know what is he prob with this phone....even after rebooting daily how come the application itself starts running....

Open Play Music, start playing an album or something. Lock phone via power button. Wake the phone. Unlock it or don't, it doesn't make a difference. Bring down the notifications shade. Press a volume button.
I accidently force stopped the account and sync setting (Xperia play) and now my sim and all contacts has been wiped.
Can you restart thi if it has been stopped and can I get my contacts back?

(Firmware: 2.3.6)Not sure which app update caused it...Suddenly "Facebook" , "Twitter" and few other apps stopped and a deluge of pop-ups of Force Close appeared on my Screen. Even though I select "ForceClose"..they reappear repeatedly. I could not open the TASK Manager by pressing the Menu button. I could not even select "Power-Off" option.
Finally I had to shut-down the phone by LongPress of the power button on the right.When restarted....All my contacts are lost. I am not able to import from my SIM card and neither am I able to create new contacts.When try to save a contact..."Unable to Save Contact" is the message I get.All the messages I received and Logs are intact. If I make new calls, its getting logged. Only Contacts has the problem...not able to create/save a contact.I have now:

Two weeks back, I updated the Firmware from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 using Kies. how to get the contacts working.
I have an app that I don't want to be auto updated, but I want the others to keep being auto updated. In the meanwhile, I turned off auto update entirely but it's a huge inconvenience having to update all the apps manually. Is there a way to keep a specific app from getting auto updated and still keep the auto update on?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot re-enable Google Play services on my HTC One M7. I disabled it to bypass the recent broken voice call problems. When I disabled it, the call worked. The battery drained, charged, and I turned it back on. Now I the broken voice call problem is back and the Google Play services is permanently disabled--when I go to apps to enable it, the button for enable/disable is gray.

I also put the google experience launcher on there from phandroids video. I unplugged my phone last night and when i went to bed i had 80% 8 hours later i woke up and had 9%. Gsam battery monitor said Google play services?
I took off the launcher but now i am stuck with the google now up date and the play store update. I also started using google hangouts. I tried uninstalling the play store update but then google hangouts won't work. What could have caused this? The phone is plugged in charging now so i have been through a days use since this happened but i am just a little worried because that is one of the main things that i was worried about before i got the phone was battery life!
I did not notice this problem until recently, at first I used Carbon+Ex kernel, now Im using Optipop+Uber, but the problem's still there, even with different Gapps. Can this be a hardware problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this issue when I realised that 1% of battery goes every 20 minutes. I see Google Play Services as the top battery drainer on my phone. I use the Moto 360 with it. I tried switching bluetooth off and checking, it's still the same, 1% every 20-30 minutes of no usage.
Edit: I forgot to mention that yesterday before I slept, I saw the battery was at 83%. Seven hours later, it was at 70%. Is this normal? Am I over-reacting?
I am on my 5th charge, and Google Play services is my number one battery drainer.
I have location services, BT, on 24/7. I only connect to BT when in my car though, so 5% of the day maybe.
If I let me phone sit idle for about 4 hours, Google Play services will be the only thing that consumed battery.
So far i've tried disabling NFC, google hang outs, ambient screen. I am trying things one at a time to see what's causing it.
There are no wakelocks, because I click the graph and I show it's only awake when I am actually using it. GPS is rarely, if ever on. WIFI is never on, as I have green signal everywhere + unlimited data via tmobile. I also do not have any other always connected apps like facebook, or facebook IM, twitter, or whatsapp, etc.
Secret code to dial in the dialer to access the network settings. I remember using it once in my old android device and theres is an option for LTE only. In the setting the option is LTE/WCDMA/GSM therefore I can not force LTE only...

I connect to Windows Phone 7 connector on OSX, but there is no update available. The Nokia FAQ says that updates 'After 5 days, all eligible phones will receive update notifications.' As o2 have already pushed updated to their versions of the Lumia. How can I force an update my phone?
Which is really annoying because I often found that it was useful to force GSM because several of my phones (including my current HTC One) favour a weak WCDMA connection over a strong GSM, which is pointless when all I want is a phone conversation with a good line!
Really kinda loathing this update... an unwelcome change that hasn't really brought me anything good that I've noticed. How do I force my X10 mini to update the Albumthumbs folder? My individual music folders have cover art in them and when I play on my PC via Media Go or Windows Media Player the cover art is displayed. But it is not displayed on the phone when I use the phone media player. The album folders have folder.jpg images and additionally the album tracks have embedded cover art. The art shows in the photo album on the phone so there is no problem with the larger image. For some reason it has not created entries in the Albumthumbs folder and I assume that is why the art does not display when I'm playing the music via the phone.How do I force the albumthumbs to be created? What normally controls their creation?
